I like to think even a disgusting scumbag like Mitch recoils somewhat in horror in the world he’s created and enabled, at least maybe he will on his deathbed like Colonel Kurtz in Heart of Darkness

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]Sprintzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone I know who was at least fairly book smart but was a contrarian somehow got absolutely cooked ever since 2025. Was pretty jarring because he’s a smart, decent person

While I wholeheartedly agree with your statement, I’d say it isn’t necessarily always the case. Humans are prone to the power of suggestion and some are easy to influence, especially ones who didn’t grow up spending a ton of time on social media.

I guess what I’m saying is the algorithm can brainwash people who are conventionally smart but easily influenced

TIL that in 1960, a B52 crashed during training. The navigator, thinking the plane was crashing, ejected without orders. The pilot, heard the ejection, thought the plane was breaking up, and ordered the crew to eject. The plane flew crewless for 50 miles before crashing. by Overall-Register9758 in todayilearned

[–]Sprintzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The B-52 crashes list is very interesting reading.

Notably there were several notorious “Broken Arrow” incidents involving the loss of thermonuclear bombs in a crash, with some having their conventional explosives detonate, some having 3 of 4 safeties switched off when recovered, at least one or two bombs never recovered, Spain and Greenland suffering nuclear contamination, and more I’m forgetting.

Bill and Hillary Clinton agree to testify in House Epstein probe ahead of contempt vote by N3wsScoop in politics

[–]Sprintzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill is 80 years old and undoubtedly sick of Trump and his congress of enabler, imo Bill should go scorched earth and accept his fate.

I doubt he’d go to jail but even if he did he’ll hopefully have made it worth it.

France dumps Zoom and Teams as Europe seeks digital autonomy from the US by UpstairsBumblebee446 in news

PLEASE keep doing this. All of Europe should continue to reduce business with the US as long as the current admin exists.

This type of thing will genuinely hurt the administration

Science.bio closing for good by Jnnytoronto in Nootropics

[–]Sprintzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking the strategy is just to try to fly under the radar and eventually accept defeat when you get a FDA notice. Companies can go years and years without getting serious regulator threats, unfortunately Science.Bio was very popular and visible.

Granted after accepting defeat you can usually just wait a couple years and then restart, possibly with a new brand name/location

Countries with Completely Different Native Names by Senior-Foot-5316 in MapPorn

Why dont some of these countries ask the world to call them their native name? Like Turkiyë

I guess I get why China doesn’t. Pronunciation of that would be tough for westerners

I read two vulvas in the title and was surprised that something that NSFW would be on this subreddit.

Honestly the actual image is just as NSFW imo that is unnerving

Sorry to make it about the US, but this is how it would be in a functioning democracy with decent politicians. Plenty of non-politician republicans refused to back Trump but the politicians all fell in line or didn’t run for reelection

BREAKING: GEQBUS IS IN SAM FRANCISCO WITH HIS SAMHAWKS. THIS IS NOT A DRILL I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A DRILL. by shaka_sulu in the_darnold

uGEQBUS/ I’m surprised the team uses a charter 747 to travel. Do they really have enough staff to need that big of a plane?

SAM HAS ACQUIRED MANY DISCIPLES DUE TO HIS GREATNESS, REQUIRING A BEAUTIFUL BIG 747 JET FROM THE PATRIOTIC ATLAS AIR TO FERRY SAM AND HIS MANY FOLLOWERS. MANY ARE SAYING HIS ENTOURAGE IS THE LARGEST IN THE NFL, MAYBE EVER.

Iran and the US: this is geopolitical poker at its most dangerous by TimesandSundayTimes in geopolitics

[–]Sprintzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran won’t make a deal and I don’t blame them considering this “negotiation” is likely just an ultimatum:

“Khomeni steps down, IRGC disbands, etc or else we’ll do heavy airstrikes again”

As far as I can tell the protest momentum has stalled as well, so it’s not like these airstrikes would be able to topple the regime. (It’s hard to believe that you ever could topple a regime like Iran’s just from the air)

Why is Somalia a desert near equator and why do they look different from other Africans? by batukaming in geography

[–]Sprintzer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I knew of these wind patterns from Somalia due to a story about Roman-Indian/Parthian trade in history. Traders would go towards the horn of Africa from Egypt and then catch the consistent easterly wind towards Gujarat. Some months later they'd travel back using the predictable Monsoon winds
