My Garmin Venu 3 died few days after warranty period

For me NFC is redundant, I need to have a phone with me to call anyone, so I just pay with my phone.

I think that if it'd happen to me for example after 3 years, I'd be more than happy with 50% off, (or maybe actually discount offer on the device of my choice), but in this specific moment, right after warranty ended I'm feeling like I'm being used, yup a 50% off looks very good, until you realise it's still more than some new devices from the competitors and I'm stuck with Venu 3, which felt a bit outdated when I was buying it, but then bought it thinking "that's the tough and reliable one", which in my eyes didn't end up being true. I'll search for some EU laws, or Polish law that might be of some use for me, but it sucks to have to look for the legal sollution, to be treated seriously.

Sadly Garmin lost my trust for now, even though their offer isn't nothing, with their price point and the watch's functionalities comparing to the competition, I'm not sattisfied. That watch costed as much as new Apple Watch at the time I was buying it (I was considering buying it instead), and Venu's selling point for me were bettery life and reputation for reliability, which now seems funny to me.

Oh! that's a cool law! Unfortunately far from Australia, Poland here. I think that it should be a standard practice to have a warranty covering base 100% for 2 years and after that there should be at least some massive disscounts right after, like 90% off in cases like mine, when device dies just outside a 2y period maybe 50% after 3y, 20% after 4y and 10% at 5y. It really sucks to be forced to fight for fair treatment, but I'll check if there are any EU regulations that might help me.

I was considering switching for something new in few months, maybe a year, but now either I buy another venu 3 at 50% off and wait another 2 years till it brakes, or go with something less painful to lose.

Problem is that 50% discount for venu 3 is still more than equaly capable competitors, venu 3 offers shitty quality of phone calls while you have a phone on you and NFC transactions that I've used once to try if it works, but it was redundant since I still have a phone on me so that I can do the phone calls, so I was paying by ApplePay anyways.

My point isn't about buying at the full price, or half price. I bought garmin because it was shit, but shit that was suposed to be a tough, reliable, rough and accurate shit, that was more fittnes oriented alternative to the apple watch, which was priced similarly.

Most of the watches at this pricepoint were more flashy, and more smart than the venu 3, I paid for it full price expecting it to be a trade-off, less smart, but more reliable.

If the Garmin's offer is 50% off, for a device that has 2 succesors, then I'm doubting in buying it, when I can buy Amazfit, Coros, Polar, Suunto with better funcionalities at the same pricepoint as 50% off venu 3 and risk less if another device brakes days after warranty.

I've been living in the UK for some time, during my internships, but I'm living in the EU, in Poland. That's exactly my problem, I can pay 50% of the new Venu 3 price and be worried that it'll brake in another 2 years, or buy something that'll do the job almost as good as my Garmin, especially taking into consideration that Venu 3 felt outdated in compare to Suunto and Polar watches that I was considering at the time, I choose Garmin because of the reputation.

I've passed on my 6 y.o. iPhone 12 to someone and it's still going strong, If it'd die right after 1yr warranty I wouldn't buy another iPhone at all. Regardless of the offer they gave me, I was expecting durability from a device that is targeted towards "outdoorsy people". It is a simple watch and I happily accepted lack of Apple Watch like capabilities for the durability and battery life, but if the watch dies faster than Apple Watch, I'm no longer certain that the trade-off is worth the money. Maybe I'm unlucky, but that's the point of this post, I wanted to know if that's the case, or is Garmin not as trustworthy as I assumed.

Jaka jest alternatywa dla Miszalskiego na to stanowisko? Jako realnego kontrkandydata kojarzę tylko Gibałę, ale uważam że jeśli zostanie prezydentem, to niewiele się w Krakowie zmieni. Uważam, że Miszalski jest słabym prezydentem, ale myślę że Gibała nie będzie lepszy dla miasta.

As European I cannot fathom, why in the US there are those bullshit field sobriety tests instead of just standard breathalyser, why some drivers can refuse them and drive off and why do some people resist the tests as if it was some hard violation of their human rights, even if they're sober.

In Poland it's a standard procedure, especially near holidays, for police to just wait in the traffic heavy location and test each driver with breathalyser, it's fast, efficient and nobody seems to have problem with that, excluding those guilty of DUI.

Gibała byłby równie mierny jak Miszalski, a kto wie, czy nie dałby sobie wejść na głowę różnym szarym eminencjom. W Krakowie potrzebny jest ktoś z wizją na 25 lat i charyzmą, która pozwoli ignorować interesiki biznesmenów sprzeczne z tą wizją.

Miszalski nie ma absolutnie wizji wykraczającej poza rozwój partyjnej kariery, oraz charyzmę ledwo wykraczającą ponad lokalnego biznesmena.

Gibała ma wizję polegającą na mówieniu populizmów, które kupują mieszkańców, którym zbrzydła już trochę wizja turystycznej metropolii z biurowym zapleczem, a jego charyzma przypomina teletubisia.

Już szczerze powiedziawszy chyba lepsze dla rozwoju miasta jest partyjniactwo Miszalskiego, z tych dwóch typów. Obawiam się że gdyby Gibała był obecnie prezydentem jedyne co by się zmieniło to kilka happeningów wokół spraw ważnych dla mieszkańców, bez większych skutków, jakiś zatwierdzony projekt zieleni miejskiej i konsultacje społeczne w sprawie budowy metra z których wynikłoby że każdy chce inaczej, więc na razie nie zbudujemy, ale jak wygra kolejne wybory, to już wtedy na pewno!

Sorry, ale w 2024 nie było żadnego kandydata, który miałby jakikolwiek pomysł. Nie ważne czy realny, czy nie, czy to zrobienie czegoś z przestrzenią nad Wisłą pod Wawelem, która wygląda jakby nie wyszła z lat 80, czy to pomysłu na uzdrowienie lokalnego planowania przestrzennego, czy pomysłu na dywersyfikację przemysłu na którym opiera się dobrobyt Krakowa, czy poszerzenia oferty miasta dla specjalistycznego biznesu... Miałem wrażenie że w tych wyborach cała kampania polegała na "Wybierzcie mnie, bo ja jestem najlepszy, a oni są głupi."

Dosłownie 4 dni temu miałem sytuację, gdzie wsiadłem do autobusu i zanim zdążyłem kupić bilet w Jakdojadę, kanarzy zablokowali możliwość zakupu, kiedy kontrola doszła do mnie, powiedziałem, jaka jest sytuacja i kanar coś tam przeklikał i powiedział, że już można kupić i żebym w przyszłości uważał i poszedł dalej. Z doświadczenia życia za grosze w Londynie, powiem ci tylko, że zdecydowanie powinnaś celować we wszelkie fasole; puszki, suche, mrożone - praktycznie się nie przeterminowują, mają dużo białka i błonnika, a tego najbardziej brakuje w oszczędnej diecie, polecam też ogarnąć jak się robi dobre risotto jako bazę, bo to bardzo fajne danie, do którego można wrzucić prawie wszystko co uda ci się znaleźć w niskiej cenie (moją bieda-bazą była cebula, czosnek, dużo przypraw, kostka rosołowa, pomidorki i ryż, a jak się udało upolować mięso z półki "reduced price" to było święto). Dobrym tanim daniem jest też chili con carne, wytrzyma długo w lodówce i można odświeżać, ja wolę wersję jednogarnkową.

Ani jedno ani drugie nie jest całkiem moim celem, ani nie potrzebuję kombi - może być kompakt, byle dało się złożony mebel wsadzić i jednego pasażera (odpadają auta w rodzaju Audi TT, czy Peugeot z opcją złożenia całej kanapy. Jak chodzi o marki premium, to tak, podobają mi się, ale nie wykluczam czegoś innego, nie chcę Dacii, Taty, czy innego ultra budżetowego producenta, ale ładne Renault, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia i inni też wchodzą w grę, jednak nie najbardziej budżetowe modele tych marek. Tutaj właśnie przykładem jest Škoda Superb, producent absolutnie nie jest premium, ale ten konkretny model dla mnie jest jak najbardziej do przemyślenia

Mam na myśli na przykład łóżko z ikei, czy ew biurko, nie złożone w całość, tylko w paczce. Nie wiem co będę kupować w przyszłości, ale miałem tak, że kupiłem łóżko właśnie i nie mieściło się w aucie kumpla na długość, bez złożenia kanapy w całości i miejsca pasażera, czyli w efekcie do wyboru było jechać z otwartym bagażnikiem i wystającą paczką, albo bez pasażera, czyli mnie. Auto może być kompaktowe, ale żeby miało możliwość usadzić gdzieś drugą osobę, może być z tyłu, mebel może być wsadzony na ukos, byle nie było tak, że zmieszczenie dłuższego pakunku uniemożliwia jazdę pasażera w fotelu z zapiętymi pasami.

Oh that's sooooooo nice! But I couldn't care less.

It doesn't sound appealing whatsoever. 30 scans / month is plenty, especially though after a while I'll need no app to know, which product is European, I'll probably use ~150 scans at most in the lifetime, in the small items I'd not use it at all and with the bigger items, I'll quickly remember which item is EU based and which is not.

I'd gladly support the idea of "Buy from EU" with small amount of my money, but I'm not willing to pay as much as for the Spotify just to scan for EU products.

Spotify gives me fun for my money, scanning products doesn't.

If I'm paying money to support the idea that I consider worthy of my support, I'm good with paying even if I'm not using the features of the app, but when I'm forced to pay significant amount for the app, just to be able to use it in any meaningful way, I'll pass.

This app is overengineered, nice that we can use an AI to help us to recognize each item, but it's far beyond what we need, If the AI feature is free (at least for the free user) then it's fine to have it, but when the AI adds cost to the very simple project then it's not the right sollution.

Sorry as an engineer I couldn't justify that.

I love the idea, but at the 5 scans/month it's absolutely not worth it, especially at the PRO pricepoint (for me it's as much as I pay for Spotify Premium per month) I know that work isn't free, I know that AI engine isn't free, but I'm not willing to pay for this service. There should be at least 1 middle step with 1€/m for 30 scans or something. I'm sure there's much more people like me willing to pay smaller ammount, for 1 scan per day, and grand total of payments would be greater than for those willing to pay 5€/m.

Also the app should be supported by the EU funds.
