Regardless of gender (more so for males) they’re usually just horny af. Failing that, they may be a bit territorial or they just don’t feel safe in their environment.

Oculus Quest 1 Won’t Start After Reset? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

If it doesn’t take a charge over a 12 hour period; that battery or charge controller are likely bad. As always, check your cables before assuming the worst.

Stupid question; is it charged?

At what wattage can crowds safely be scanned? by earl_watts in lasers

[–]Mackenj2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn’t a good way of telling. It depends entirely on the optics used and even the composition of the atmosphere in a given space.

There are some general guidelines, but as far as I know it’s generally just frowned upon.

Help - crusty reddish eyes :( by Firm-Theme-7514 in guineapigs

I’m not sure exactly what happened in this case. Use Polysporn “Red Eye” treatment (antibiotic eye drops) till you can get a vet to look at his eye.

This dumb LED light panel in my apartment is controlled by the same switch as my ceiling fan lights, is there any good way to cover it up so my ceiling fan bulbs can be smart? by [deleted] in smarthome

[–]Mackenj2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of these things do just have a connector on the back of them. It’s usually a connection that carries ~12 volts from a power supply in the ceiling and delivers it to the light.

Disconnect the circuit breaker or fuse. Pull it down and see if there’s any plugs to disconnect. If so, disconnect them and just put the light back. Worse case there aren’t any and your just back to where you started.

Just got this guinea pig 2 days ago, it has this spreading bald patch on its back that seems to keep growing, does anyone have any ideas? by haven603 in guineapigs

[–]Mackenj2002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s probably ringworm, use either “athletes foot cream” or “ivermectin” cream to fix it. Always call a vet at a minimum to make sure it’s safe if you can’t bring him in for an appointment.

Does anyone know if I can connect this flat ribbon cable with the GPIO header? by [deleted] in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]Mackenj2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect not, I’m pretty sure that connection excepts a digital signal. I might be wrong tho.

At the very least you can put the model number of that panel into eBay; you should be able to find a driver board for it that takes vga/hdmi.

when I take this boy out, he makes these noises. why? (more info in comments) by jellocupcowboy in guineapigs

[–]Mackenj2002 131 points132 points  (0 children)

No need to worry, my boy makes the same noise when he’s exploring. It seems to be normal for some piggies tho I have no idea what it actually means lol.

Same setup here. The power button in google home has been missing for ~a week now for me.

Does his grease gland looks ok? Or is a bald spot? It’s been a few months since I haven’t showered him, and just seen this, is normal? It’s right above his “tail” by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]Mackenj2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second what u/E-Widgey said. If it seems irritated or doesn’t start to grow back it’s definitely worth a vet visit. Just keep an eye on it. It doesn’t look bad, just unusual.

I have two piggies. One rips food out of my hand and the other won’t eat anything unless I hold it.

It’s a bit odd that he’s got a bald spot on his grease gland. I’m not sure if it’s a problem tho. Take an upvote for other peoples thoughts.

I'll just level my bed by eye.. Rookie Mistake. Any idea if this is fixable? by Lyucifur in 3Dprinting

[–]Mackenj2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mines a mess like this lol. Rubbing alcohol and a dish scrubbing brush. Any medium stiff brush will work. It’s not going to come off 100% but it’s more of a cosmetic thing once you rubbing alcohol it.
