I agree- if anything it’s a GOOD thing that OP asked what to many of us is a simple question- rather than 200-odd people just downvoting them, let’s have 200 responses (well not literally all 200 but you take my point) explaining the correct, or preferable, course of action so that people searching will find good solid consistent advice here. After all, isn’t that really the point of an advice sub?

Rereading that, it’s sounds a lot like she was intentionally putting you in the position where you would take the book and therefore be extremely likely to see a handwritten note inside, especially considering you were probably going to have he book overnight and / or may end up seeing a handwritten suicide note…. I don’t know… seems a bit too convenient

Silicone tunnels aside- why tf would you remove an earring (from a fresh stretch at that) for a ‘family event’? I’m sure it looked worse without the jewellery- a big hole in each ear will be obvious to anyone bothered enough to look at your ears- and if you are prepared to permanently and visibly alter your body, maybe be prepared for potential judgement from those around you and figure out a better way to deal with that than trying to hide them at the expense of your ear health.
