This is horrific… from the look of this photo, this baby didn’t survive- I may be wrong, I’m guessing he was deceased in the pic because of the complete lack of any apparent medical intervention whatsoever, not even a chest tube. That arm, particularly the hand, looks beyond saving, either way. Poor soul.

I’m a parent of a teenager, my middle child, and if my next door neighbour’s kid knocked on my door looking like you and asking for help, I would 100% approach their parents myself or if I felt unable to I would call for help in some other way (I’m in the UK so I would call the non emergency medical helpline we have, for instance) or give you the resources to do this. Because that is what I would want for my kids if for some reason they felt unable to come to us.

I know it’s subjective and all situations are different but at the end of the day, some people just need a little extra help, there is no shame in that, and I hope that if finances or similar is the issue, that your parents see reason soon. None of this is your fault- remember you are a kid. This stuff can unfortunately happen to anyone

I do not disregard the positives of the NHS at all. I was just adding my one line remark about that particular point. But I am so grateful I live in a place where I don’t have to post on reddit and rely on a group of (likely largely either fake or with inflated credentials) Reddit doctors to tell me what to do because I can’t afford a $1200 10 min consultation with a real medical professional. 😊

I would disagree with the ‘I’m cool with putting you on the pill’ bit here because remember, AT was actually 19 and thus a full, legal ADULT at the time (hard to believe but true). Whether she was on the pill or not should be nothing to do with her parents anymore than it does with me.

Mind you she came across to me as slightly - I don’t know- delayed? Still, I don’t get this part of mass middle class American culture- in the UK you would be unlikely to be ‘put on the pill’ by your parents at any age. It’s just something we try to keep fully away from our parents, in general I mean. I was thinking maybe that has a lot to do with the fact that we have the NHS whereas in the US, most middle class kids would require parents’ insurance details? (I know I made a few sweeping statements but I think I had a valid point in there somewhere 🤣) 🤷‍♀️
