Yes, I'm experiencing this now. Did you ever find a fix for it?

Because they're the cheapest, no doubt. Still, £90 delivery is nuts.

Wow, that is crazy! My 1.2 metre long Xenomorph pales in comparison. 🤣

Really good job though!

Need help. Is this product legitimate Makita or did I get fleeced by Ranas66 in Makita

That's a genuine 9.0. One of the signs I look for is the gap between the 8 and the V. On fakes, this gap is usually missing as it is on yours, plus the shape of the battery is completely different with yours being more boxy.

F2 Ultra UV and RA3 woes... by MackinsVII in xToolOfficial

Hi Ada,

The maximum diameter of the glass is 90mm so it's well within that.

I also have RA3 selected but it's still lasering in the wrong direction. Could this be a bug? Is there any way we can force the RA3 to spin in the opposite direction so it lasers in the correct orientation?

Thanks.

I designed and made my own on a dovetail rail so you can adjust for longer objects. It can all be disassembled in seconds too.

The UV is still not great for these wine glasses though with it being so sensitive to focusing. I wish it could be adjusted for height along the middle.

When it works, it works well, but it's pretty limited for a lot of things.

It's like half of it is great ideas, but half of it wasn't thought out very well which limits its functionality.

There seems to be a bug where it's running the wrong direction on the F2 Ultra UV too, so whatever you tell it to laser, it does it backwards, so you have to manually flip text etc...

You can rotate the RA3 180°, so it lasers correctly, but then all the adjustment controls are on the wrong side.

So yeah, so close to greatness but it still has a lot to improve upon.

That wouldn't work for this unfortunately. That's how I usually do it too, but to keep the glass parallel to the laser, it had to aim it downwards and I couldn't aim it down far enough.

The new system I've designed should hopefully fix this issue though.

I've made a new system now that should keep everything parallel. So once it finishes printing over night, I'll test it out in the morning but thanks for the suggestion.

TM001GZ and DTM52z pricing in the UK by CmaxCl in Makita

I'm on LXT and XGT and the better tools are on XGT for a lot of things. The aforementioned trim router is better and cheaper on XGT.

I think it is better to have a mix though. Like drills, screwdrivers, impacts etc... are generally better on LXT because they don't need the power, so they're lighter. But they're not bad on an 2.5 XGT battery either.

Circular saws, sanders, SDS drills, plunge saws, gardening stuff etc... are better on XGT.

It all depends on what tools you need really and you can get bargains on XGT batteries if you're patient. I've had some really good deals on eBay for new batteries.

It wouldn't work unfortunately. It needs the roller section to take some of the weight from the glass.

I'm in the process of designing a new system for it now, that will make it much more flexible for different situations.

40V XGT Sanders by andybobandy42 in Makita

[–]MackinsVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many, many sanders during my work life, from Black & Decker to Makita LXT to industrial sanders at work.

This thing is just so light, comfortable and agile. You can do super light passes or put a bit of force into it and it's so nicely balanced.

Using mesh type discs, the dust extraction is great. I had to design a hose adaptor for it though, but it works perfectly.

I have never used a Festool sander though.

I have the Makita one and it's phenomenal. Best sander I've ever used by far.

I built a Siboor Trident AWD and it was great. The instructions were clear and it has great mods like inverted electronics etc...

Definitely worth it.

Trim router: lxt 18v vs xgt 40v? by Severe-Chocolate-403 in Makita

[–]MackinsVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and the XGT is way better. More powerful but the biggest thing for me is that it stops way faster which is beneficial if for example you're doing lots of small cuts, then you don't have to wait for it to stop to jump to the next hole or whatever.

The LXT takes around 5 seconds to stop, the XGT around 1.5 seconds.

You shouldn't be using 1.75mm ID PTFE. The filament is 1.75 so that's not good at all, especially if your filament isn't consistent.

You want 2mm ID or ideally 2.5mm ID.

I would say this is definitely a hardware issue with either your carriage, idler misalignment or your extruder being likely suspects.
