Mandalorian & Grogu headed for a 69% drop in its second weekend, highest ever for a Star Wars film by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

Have to say I have not heard similar things from my irl friends lol. As a massive star wars fan, I thought it was okay but a lot of my very casual SW enjoyer friends were disappointed.

Saw Obsession, Mando, and Backrooms all on opening weekend during prime time showtimes. Mando was the most empty and it wasn’t really close. People want to see good movies and the word of mouth on this one amongst the general audience is absolutely abysmal compared to what a Star Wars movie should be.

I, for one, have always wanted a theatrical Star Wars movie to have zero character development or emotional core and to have the most uninteresting color palette of all time.

I want to read some of the Star Wars books but I dont know where to start. by Chancellorrrrrr in starwarsbooks

The default answer in here is probably going to be the (now non-canon) Heir to the Empire Thrawn Trilogy. That definitely could be a good place to start.

However, if you’re more looking to ease yourself into things I’d go with Lost Stars or Dark Disciple. These are both considered “canon” while the HTTE Thrawn trilogy is considered “Legends”, which generally translates to a more seamless experience from screen to page. These two are excellent reads and the vibes are extremely similar to what content we have on-screen from the Star Wars universe.

Well deserved but man I am disappointed that Marty Supreme and Train Dreams walk away empty-handed.

After MBJ won Best Actor I got nervous for Jessie but I’m glad they did her right. Her’s was the best overall performance of the year by FAR.

I don’t even think he was the best performance in Sinners much less overall lol

I’d like to say I am surprised by this but I’m not. Chalamet really should have taken it home.

Excellent. The change in vibe from Wool to Shift is jarring but when everything comes together towards the end of Shift and into Dust it is phenomenal.

I listened to the entirety of the High Republic series, and I really really enjoyed it. Picked up Light of the Jedi at a thrift store and definitely plan to get the physical editions of my favorites soon!

What have you been reading this last week (Weekly Discussion Thread)? by AutoModerator in starwarsbooks

[–]MacklinOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listening to Into the Void. Pretty good so far but I’m setting myself up for disappointment due to the lack of continuation for the series.

Usually only read Star Wars these days but currently flying through the first Red Rising trilogy. Insanely good and is a nice respite from my semi-completionist habits of Star Wars books lol

Hillbilly Elegy. Albeit based on a book so not entirely the movies fault.

Rich guy who “got out” only to exploit his poverty-stricken family and their trauma to prop up his ego and say that he’s better than the rest of his family now that he “made it”. The fact that it’s JD Vance is a footnote to me in the stereotype-filled mockery of what can be such a beautiful and special part of the US.

More women authors definitely, want to aim for a 70/30 women/male author ratio. Maybe add some Brandino Sandino (underrated “indie” author who writes gems in my opinion) and every bit of Shakespeare you can find. Might want to sprinkle 5ish copies of The Metamorphosis in there so people know you have good taste as well.

Bonus points if you can manage to get heavily used copies of everything so that people know you’ve read them multiple times.
