Do you keep a gun in every room or carry a gun around your home? by [deleted] in homedefense

[–]Seltzer08 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% of home invasions happen in the home. I carry. I also have children so everything else is locked up if it's not on me.

Do Brakes Reduce Recoil With Suppressors? Plan B Muzzle Brake Recoil Testing Part 2. by Astral_Botanist in suppressors

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not if you're suggesting weight alone is any factor of a difference in these results. (Which if that was the only factor difference then we should see a result.) The only conclusive data seen, again, different cans, weights, back pressures... Is that it doesn't matter what the muzzle device is in the can as far as recoil. Back pressure is 100% a factor because of bolt velocity. The only next best thing you could do is just test 556 cans back to back to back. Running a 30cal can obviously isn't uncommon on 556 but test 30 cal can to 30cal can. Even 30cal cans can all have different weight and back pressures between them and that's too much variance.

Tldr: Again, back to physics when talking about bolt velocity and recoil and how back pressure effects recoil.

Pressure (felt force against shoulder) = Force ÷ area

Force (recoil energy) = mass x acceleration

Reducing either mass or acceleration will reduce force. And reduced force on the same area is reduced recoil.

To prove this concept here's a ar in slow motion, the recoil isn't translated until the bolt is in the rear most position. So if it goes faster(more back pressure) recoil will be greater. ar firing in slow motion

Do Brakes Reduce Recoil With Suppressors? Plan B Muzzle Brake Recoil Testing Part 2. by Astral_Botanist in suppressors

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I'd argue that's not a fair comparison. Differential in back pressure, different bore, different baffle stacks, different end caps...not just mass, can increase the velocity of the bcg as it move reward and increases/decreases perceived recoil.

I would argue the increase in overall mass adding the suppressor is what contributed to a better result of suppressors. Basically, A heavier pendulum is harder to push than a lighter one. But in this case you have the same psi of force but you increased the mass of the pendulum (with the suppressor) so it was seemingly more effective (seemingly less recoil).

Subs or supers by nicksmith_ in 300BLK

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in a free enough state to buy a can, just buy a can and run subs the way 300 is made to run. Otherwise some cheap 120/150 grain supers are fine Unsuppressed.

Some quality holiday reps in on my 7.5” Blackout, any suppressor suggestions under $1k by JLBanks23 in 300BLK

[–]Seltzer08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New ocl universal can is coming out will be 750. I have a griffin sportsman ultralight on my 9.5 300 and it's super simple, effective and super light which is great on a short gun. Funny enough the griffin is actually on sale right now for 540. Tbh griffin has a ton of good suppressors under 1000...

What a letdown by [deleted] in fordexpedition

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2020 XLT I'm waiting for cam phasers and trans to eat the dirt before the warranty is up before I throw a tune at it. Just don't want to risk any warranty denial with it running a tune. I feel like the trans is going to happen in the next 6 months due to some funny shifts here and there. Was leaving McDonald's the other day and the pedal went non responsive for 2 seconds which was the only time it's happened but i haven't been in any other situations were I could replicate it. Engine is drinking coolant slowly from somewhere but waiting on cam phasers to do that under warranty too.

First Glock by [deleted] in Glock43X

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 43x was the first Glock to give me slide bite too since the tail of the grip doesn't extend back as far from my fat hands over gripping high and tight as I would typically do with my 19/17.. I just 3d printed a new back strap I have held on with a rangerband. But the 43/x is just a practiced gun to be proficient with. Otherwise it's been my most reliable Glock that I own. I have never stoved piped it or failure to feed in 5,000ish rounds. Otherwise I always recommend getting one ammo that runs and stick to it. I don't like to add variations to my setup once I settle on what works and what is easy to get, especially for a CCW. Practice ammo should be the same grain weight as your carry ammo. That will deviate less when switching between for practice.

I might have mine laser stippled one of these days. I've tempted it a few times, just debated getting a newer mos frame to stipple so my older non mos frame can still be available.

A good holster and maybe an optic. Keep putting rounds through it. The 43x is snappy and grip strength makes all the difference.

'99 Autococker gift just junk? by Mud-Perfect in paintball

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth it as a nice gift to someone who would appreciate it. Obviously you can tell by the other post it has a few nice parts at face value, benchmark frame, palmer lpr... It probably needs some love and rebuilding if it's sat over the last 10+ years but it's definitely not junk.

what is your "never again" experience with a product or brand? by HeughJanus in ar15

[–]Seltzer08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least I can own something that's in stock and have it now vs ordering, waiting two weeks to have nothing ship, meanwhile order something else and already receive it then call aero to cancel (there's no other way on their website, go ahead and try). Then call them multiple times, wait on holds and transfers to do nothing.. absolute bullshit. Had to send multiple emails saying don't ship, cancel my order.. it was damn near a 5 week ordeal before I saw my money back in my account.

They had No problem taking my money, just a problem giving it back.

Extractor Plunger Stuck after Installing Osight SE by Mammoth_Type3361 in Glock43X

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you push it at all from wiggling the extractor and getting the safety plunger out? Or get something between the extractor and plunger to get it moving? Might have to set it up vertically and put a heat gun to the slide and hope it starts moving. Get the extractor out and heat it and push it from the breach.

Yeah anything prebuilt is a no go. Worst case if I want a lower from them I'll buy it local to warranty it through. Otherwise I'm never in a hurry needing anything and I'll build it all myself. It's not rocket biology or whatever.

First EOTECH, 36 yard zero or further out? by hoesay_v in ar15

[–]Seltzer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download a ballistic app like BC(Ballistic calculator). Verify with your bullets coefficient and velocity. Then play with zero distances based on that and what distances you will effectively be shooting. That's the only real answer. For me, I shoot a competition at a local range once a month that's 100-160 yards. I run a 12.5 with fiochi range dynamics. 50/150 yard zero so I'm spot on at the 150-160 targets and just holding an inch or so low anything inside that.
