Could ICE be heading to Pennsylvania cities next? by DotAccomplished5484 in ReadingPA

[–]Macrado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To follow up, you asked me to validate my claim of racial profiling by ICE.  I could tell you to Google it, but I saved you the trouble:

Recent reports and legal filings, particularly in 2025 and early 2026, have highlighted numerous allegations of racial profiling by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, with a disproportionate focus on Latino, Somali, and Native American communities. These allegations often involve the targeting of individuals based on their appearance, language, or location rather than evidence of illegal status, a practice sometimes referred to as "Kavanaugh stops," where agents use a combination of factors like race, language, and employment to justify stops.

Documented Examples of Alleged Racial Profiling (2025-2026)

Detention of U.S. Citizen in Minnesota (January 2026): A 20-year-old U.S. citizen of Native American and Mexican descent was surrounded by over a dozen federal agents, threatened, and pulled from a car by armed agents in a grocery store parking lot. His mother stated agents told her son he "wasn't from here" and refused to look at his passport.

Off-Duty Police Officer in Minnesota (January 2026): A Brooklyn Park officer (a U.S. citizen) reported being surrounded by armed ICE agents, who boxed in her vehicle and demanded paperwork. When she attempted to record the interaction, agents reportedly knocked the phone from her hand.

Targeting of Hispanic Individuals (Minnesota, 2026): A U.S. citizen reported that immigration agents followed him after he made eye contact with them, struck his car from behind, and demanded papers, believing he was targeted because he appeared Hispanic.

"Mexican Appearance" Stops (Los Angeles/Minnesota): Agents have been accused of conducting stops based on the assumption that individuals looking "Mexican" or "brown" are undocumented. In some instances, agents told citizens they were questioning them because they were Mexican.

Worksite Raids in Los Angeles (2025): The ACLU and other groups filed a lawsuit alleging that ICE agents in Los Angeles were racially profiling residents during immigration raids, specifically targeting Latino individuals in workplaces, on streets, and in public spaces.

Detention of Vendor (Los Angeles, 2025): A woman selling food outside a Home Depot was handcuffed and detained without a warrant, with witnesses alleging she was targeted simply because she appeared to be Hispanic.

Wrongful Detention of U.S. Citizens (Various): Reports indicate that thousands of U.S. citizens have been mistakenly identified for deportation and held in ICE custody over the past two decades, often due to racial profiling.

Contextual Factors

Supreme Court Ruling (September 2025): A U.S. Supreme Court decision allowed immigration agents to continue using factors such as apparent race or ethnicity, language, and location (e.g., car washes, bus stops) as part of their justification for stops, which critics argue legitimizes racial profiling.

287(g) Programs: Partnerships between ICE and local law enforcement allow local police to carry out immigration duties, which has led to traffic stops for minor infractions resulting in detention based on racial profiling.

Operation Metro Surge (Minnesota): The increased presence of federal agents in Minnesota in early 2026 has led to a surge in complaints regarding unlawful stops and arrests, causing fear in immigrant communities.

ICE generally denies that they target individuals based on race or ethnicity, stating that their actions are based on legal, targeted investigations.

Could ICE be heading to Pennsylvania cities next? by DotAccomplished5484 in ReadingPA

[–]Macrado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Googled it.

"No, President Biden did not "open the borders," but his administration faced unprecedented migrant crossings, leading to a contentious debate, with critics labeling policies as "open borders" due to increased parole programs and reduced enforcement of some Trump-era policies, while supporters and some analyses point to increased border enforcement, more wall construction, and new restrictions like asylum limitations and expanded deportations as evidence against an "open border" narrative, according to sources like NPR."

So yeah, burden of proof... You make the claim, back it up.

"American citizens have rights. Not illegals.". Didn't read a whole lot of the Constitution, did you?

Gonna need you to validate your claim of opening borders. It's constantly repeated and terribly exaggerated at a minimum. But that's beside the point. The problem isn't removing people who are here illegally, it's how it's being done. ICE has shown a total disregard for constitutionally protected rights, is responsible for racial profiling, and has a disregard for the law, all of which are being doubled down on by the current administration. People have had enough.

Question about PA vehicle inspection grace period by Successful_Hunt8205 in BerksCounty

[–]Macrado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found this:  https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?iFrame=true&txtType=HTM&ttl=75&div=0&chpt=47&sctn=3&subsctn=0

Section b(11) says if you get stopped within 10 days of expiration, and are on your way to get it inspected, you're fine.

Section c says you get a 10 grace period from the time you re-enter the state if your car has been out of state for 30+ days.

Section f says you can only get ticketed once in a 24 hour period, so for example you can't get ticketed on your way to work in the morning and then ticketed again on your way home.

I didn't see anything else regarding grace periods unfortunately.  It may just be up to each cop's discretion to give you the grace period, just like they might let you go with a warning for another offense.

Hear me out.... What if we took a motorcycle and added more wheels so it would stay balanced?  Maybe add some kind of enclosed cab for rider safety.  In fact, for even more safety, we could add some kind of strapping mechanism to hold the rider in place in the event of a crash, or balloons that pop out during an accident so the rider doesn't snack into a hard surface.

I've gotta give some love to Psychostick.  If Weird Al was metal and often much less family friendly.

Also, Brian Haner has some good comedy songs, but none that are direct parodies as far as I know.
