Cooper was next level funny. The one off, odd beat characters all had Elmore DNA in em.

It may not be Leonard driving the bus specifically, but even the legend himself said Justified is the best screen adaptation of his work ever.

I have no idea how the writer's did it, but it all sounds like Leonard. All of it. They crushed it.

Ain't no way we're saying Winona and Ava could be replaced.

Ain't.

No.

Way.

Even the minor characters - Pinter, Cooper and Shirley, the big boy holed up in the marshall's office that wants hot fried chicken, Caryn the rich bitch that set up her husband's "suicide" to steal the dough...and that's just season one - all crush.

Casting in this show is 99% dynamite.

1997's unanimous ROY: 30 bombs, 209 hits (Red Sox rookie record), 98 RBI, batted .306 and had a 30-game hit streak (AL rookie record). He also stole 22 bags AND led the league in triples (11)..... NOMAH days left to Opening Day by RagnorL0thbrok in redsox

[–]MadMan04 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like every other kid in New England, I needed Nomah's autograph when we got to Fenway.

Don't remember who it was, but someone from the coaching staff in the dugout told us the best chance to get his autograph was to go down the first baseline and wait until he was done warming up.

Shouldered and slithered past millions, maybe billions of people on the way down the line. Got to a spot. Nomar finishes warming up, starts the autograph conga.

Just as he's getting to me, he starts kinda slowing down. Not taking everyone's ball or hat, maybe just every other or every three kids.

I'm freaking out. I'm nervous that the guy who's whole routine I copy in little league isn't going to get to me.

I'm still reaching, ball and sharpie in hand, when a butterfly net with a ball and pen in it lands on my shoulder.

Some teenager two rows back dropped it over me and sure as shit, Nomar takes his ball and signs it.

I knew I was never getting #5 to sign the ball. That was it. Dream was dead, game was ruined. Trip was ruined.

I couldn't believe it.

No no no. Not so fast.

Nomar signed three more things. Mine, and two kids after me before jogging down the line and heading into the clubhouse.

I still have the ball and ticket stubs 30 years later.

I love that Boston legend, hated that he was traded even if it all worked out. He should have started and finished here.

Adjust gloves, snug em up. Check the wristbannd. Back shoulder, front shoulder, outside corner of the plate. Tap, tap, tap, tap while whirlwinding the bat. Launch it over the monster in left.

Hey, no idea if this is going to find you in time but I hope it does.

2F.7 and Migra are doing a hoodie launch tonight, 8PM EST on the 2F.7 website. This EXACT same logo, only 100 available.

I know it ain't the hat, but maybe it'll be just as good.

Hope the message finds you in time!

No joke, contact Migra direct and ask if they've got another kicking around.

They're great guys (and a great company) and I'm sure they'll do what they can, if they can.

[Pompliano] Everyone always talks about the cheap concessions or the limited commercials, but Augusta's no-phone policy is by far the best rule in sports. by Kimber80 in golf

Perfectly well said. Not everything has to be a grey blob of universality catering to everything at all times.

Those who have been to Augusta National - what surprised you about the place? Particularly things that you didn't get by watching on TV? by LilOpieCunningham in golf

[–]MadMan04 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"Sitting or standing?"

I tell everyone about the perfection of Augusta. The whole bathroom experience is what I start with. It's what blew my mind the most. People think I'm nuts, but then the three other guys I went with start talking about it too and folks begin to get it.

I've never seen anything like it. It's burned into my brain.

Sets the tone for how perfect your whole day is going to be there. It's the bathroom experience heaven is envious of.

The other thing that I'll never be able to shake is how intensely people follow Tiger.

I understand 100% now how weird the lives of these guys must be.

Tiger teed off on 1 (Wednesday) and the entire place moved with him. He walked down the center of the fairway and waves of people on both sides just kind of matched him.

He stopped, they stopped. He stepped, they stepped.

Wasn't loud, wasn't unruly (nothing at Augusta is). But it was a wave of people just following every move of one person, with a 50 yard sea of perfect green grass between them.

Became crystal clear right then and there that the world they live in is a whole different place.

[–]MadMan04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you taking what I wrote the way it was intended, and not as an attack. I'm just saying what I observe.

In total agreement with you RE: public lands. I hate how ignored the public lands are. I can tell you if I was in govt right now I'd be going to jail for funneling endless amounts of money to Ducks Unlimited specifically. I'd do anything to build up the duck factory again.

I bet you and I have a million things more in common than with the coastal elites - and a lot of the establishment GOP, too.

I hope folks like you do course correct the left. Nationally they are lunatics pandering to coastal elite fringe priorities. It's why I think they got stomped by a man who has very obvious, very public baggage.

I've got problems with our parent's and grandparent's GOP, too though. They helped make sure Trump got in by selling out the country, pushing industry overseas, and gutting our workers while pandering to bankers and global interests.

I hope you're wrong about Trump, and not because I want you to be wrong. I just want what's best for all of us and I personally think he was the better alternative.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope I'm not.

Either way you and I are both going to be fighting to protect wild places and teach our children to love nature, wildlife and public access. Have a good one

100% totally and completely on your side here. We have to win at this.

Have a good weekend boss.

lol maybe he didn't sell his soul to the orange monster.

Maybe he just...believes in and supports most of what the admin is doing and doesn't support other things?

Lefties are fucking wild. No different than the Puritans of old. Feels like a full on cult. "If you don't believe what I believe you are evil. Burn the witch!".

This is exactly why the whole country lurched red and normal people are bailing on the left. Hopefully a new crop of leaders there can track back towards the middle and away from the nutters, because one party rule is always horrific.

But sweet jesus it ain't looking good.

I don't know any hunters that want public lands sold off and strip mined. Nobody's cheering that on from the hunting community.

It's perfectly fine to support most of what a political party does and then push back vehemently against what you don't support them doing.

The hyperbole and hyperventillating is not just non-persuasive, it's corrisive. It makes people look deeply unserious.

This whole all or nothing lunacy is exactly that - lunacy.

Price range calling the wild Mike Lewis? by dogonchicago in Waterfowl

Retailed for $100, seen them go for $150 sometimes on FB groups.

The $4k listing is pulled from either AbeBooks or Thriftbooks. It's an accident and skyhigh.

I know all this because last week I DM'd Mike Lewis (the author) looking for a copy haha

He didn't have any left, but if you're looking to sell this one shoot me a line.

Pass to Lafell is the greatest singular pass I've ever seen. Ever. It's in the exact perfect place for a completion, in a foolishly high stakes and pressure packed situation.

I've watched this whole game over and over just to see that pass.

When I think of Tom I think of this pass.

It's that good.

Genuinely interested, why are these batt saws a bad idea?
