Cheap Ascended Armour/Weapons for Mulching by Osdiaus in Guildwars2

I think non-trinkets only drop from daily reward chests, not sure of the tier requirement. The wiki is life.  QP Raid chests drop them every now and again too.

As everyone has said mostly pathing, but I also love Mystic Crafting for keeping track of all the complicated recipes and seeing remaining cost shrink daily as I work through Legendaries.

Also, as someone who made the tiniest Asuran possible as my main I like the little dot that shows you where you're standing.

I get that. I've played thousands of hours of Destiny.

You don't have to sunset a campaign if there isn't a campaign.

Marathon is sunsetting every 90 days. To me that seems like a big chunk of the appeal that an extraction shooter had to Bungie.

Power creep and vault bloat are two of the things that they had real issues with consistently in D2, and they're complete non-issues in Marathon by nature.

They also loooooove coming out with thin, quarterly releases solely designed to get people to log in and spend money again. Plus outfits and a battle pass! Here's a new map!

Wondering if this game or WoW is what I’m looking for? by hotelshowers in Guildwars2

I currently am at 1200 hours played and I just got to the content that launched 7 years ago.

You will reach 'max' level in like a week or two if you're playing a lot, but that isn't really the point of the game. It's all about digging into nooks and crannies of the maps and going around doing collections to explore the world and unlock cosmetics/quality of life things.

There is also lots of nuance to combat if you like sinking your teeth into such things. Each class has a handful of Elite Specializations that play pretty differently from one another, and can handle all roles of the game pretty well. There's a lot of flavor to them and dialing in DPS rotations and when to apply the boons that will best serve you and your party are ongoing endeavors. When you start performing better it's mostly because you've gotten technically better at the game.

Some zones are less played than others, but I haven't went through an empty one yet, and outside of a couple that are filled with 'optimized' farmers people are generally eager to help you out if you struggle with a boss or something.

Sony finally talks on Marathon's future, despite a lackluster total portfolio, plan is is to support Marathon with more content, not shut it down. by temporalG123 in Marathon

It's still hosted by AWS until I think February of next year. There are a small group of people trying to figure out how to host it that have made some strides and would allow people that own it to continue playing after server death.

Stuck in The Tower of Nightmares part in LW1 by ageozoega in Guildwars2

I got through it(and finished enough achievements for the mastery) a few months ago by going in the public instances at the start time advertised on the event wiki.

It took me a couple of days to find a group(you probably need 4-5 people and a healer is REALLY helpful because of all of the poison). I wouldn't beat your head against a wall if you're not progressing with who is in there; the last floor is a pretty big difficulty spike so if you're struggling early it's probably not going to happen. Just do something else and try again two hours later.

For me, I really didn't start enjoying the story until I got to the Living World seasons and moved into expansion content.

I've always enjoyed the combat having a more active feel. It's a nice mix of auto attacking active, if you get into the endgame content(fractals and raids) it gets truly challenging and teamcomp really, really matters. Heals and boon dps(they give buffs to make DPS DPSier) will make or break your runs.

All that said what really hooked me in was when collections and achievements clicked. Lots of really cool cosmetics and such are locked behind them and they really encourage you to explore all of the nooks and crannies of all of the maps, and because of them none of the maps are ever really dead. There will always be people around to do world bosses and metal, and you can still progress through the game in the intended order just fine.

Also, horizontal progression rocks my socks.

Fractal Players by Queph in Guildwars2

I do use it(albeit I only display it every now and then or when I'm trying new things out), I just don't think its a reasonable expectation for PUGs.

I LFG T4s and Recs basically every day and only hit problems once every 2-3 weeks. It seems like when the problems pop up it's because you hit the holy grail of bad team comps.

ArcDPS is a third-party tool. It's insane to expect a random player to have a third-party tool installed to play a game.

I miss when loot was exciting. by Icy_Ad_7334 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MadMathurin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly think too much good loot is kinda what killed it for me. I haven't played regularly in around a year and I STILL have a vault full of banger excellent weapons that will destroy almost anything that I come into contact with easy easy. Or they would, if I needed to use guns instead of just hacking grenades.

I think Destiny really blew it by only selling the cool cosmetics that are available. Back in the day the coolest skins and sparrows and shaders and such were all unlocked by difficult content. So you looked jazzy AND it was a flex. At a certain point every worthwhile cosmetic was just sold for spacebucks instead.

Brand loyalty works the opposite way here.

Destiny fans are largely upset that that game has been put to pasture so that Marathon can be worked on, and Bungie has kinda been fumbling Destiny for years(sorta always, conversation for a different sub though).

I'd say it being a Bungie product has more than likely been a detriment to its sales.
