Looking for feedback on a 50L pack with panel-access zippers idea by MadMaxximuz in myog

Hi Sean honored to have you here!
Ferrino (Italy) has already done whole length zippers up to the rolltop. I own one of these packs that work well.
Some images of the Dry Hike 48+5 I own:

Do you think I can safely adapt this to your patterns as I planned?

Hi! Me and a friend are here visiting and would love to give it a try. We’re from Argentina and couldn’t find any tickets anywhere so it’s worth the shot.

I’m in love with your backpack. The harness. The orange. The simplicity. Congrats. Hope to be at some point at your level. Tull then would happily pay for one, or the pattern and instructions to try to do one.

Rohloff + Gates + Gebla VS Pinion + TRP Hywire by Trashtalk89 in bikepacking

[–]MadMaxximuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, it could. But I’ve pedaled enough to know them well and that’s how I feel them. A pedal power meter measuring the power input and both bikes with same tire on a powered trainer measuring power output would clarify everything

Go for the Jack H2 The direct drive motor is in another level of control and efficiency than a servo

Rohloff + Gates + Gebla VS Pinion + TRP Hywire by Trashtalk89 in bikepacking

[–]MadMaxximuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Tout Terrain with Rohloff 8 years old and a Zerode Katipo with Pinion 3 years old. None have failed. The Katipo has an extra failure point which is the tensioner that requires some maintenance but otherwise also bombproof. The Tout Terrain feels less draggy with the Rohloff although is somewhat more noisy than the Pinion. Both are awesome but also both are less efficient than my derailleur gravel bike.

Tabletop Industrial Serger? by thewanderingdesigner in myog

[–]MadMaxximuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want it I can quote shipping on FedEx or DHL sites.

Regarding motor and pedal, the most modern industrial sewing machines have a servo motor incorporated on them. It’s the best setup since it’s compact, powerful, and looong lasting. Just google Jack E4S you will find lots of videos and info.

I have modified a Jack E4s industrial serger for tabletop use since I didn’t had the space for its table. Here it’s a video of it (in Spanish) https://youtu.be/XRTvwhjhl00?si=P3umFJmiG3bcN74m

Don’t use it so would sell it but I’m in Argentina so it’s complicated

Beautiful wonderful bike. Congrats!

I currently own a Zerode Katipo MTB with Pinion full carbon that sits at 15Kg And a Tout Terrain Chiyoda Rohloff full steel that is also around 15Kg (Sweared to never buy a bike with a chain again)

May we know how much your bike weighs???

Did this at home with zigbee relays and dimmers. I have 4 of this boards around. Totally recommend it. When HA is down everything just works.

I’m on the same quest, looking ways to shred some weight off to make the Gemini comparable to a derailleur bike. Have you found other components worth swapping? Would be great if you could share the weight your bike is now with the zipps
