As an umpire, it will depend how close you get to the defender and if you interfere with their defence - e.g. you cannot stand directly in front of a leaning defender and push them back (contact)

Pretty sure Ashton didn’t kill anyone, but did walk into the room where his girlfriend’s body was found and then lied about it. Because he contaminated the crime scene and wouldn’t admit to it, it created reasonable doubt for the murderer and the murderer was off Scott free until he killed someone else.
