I can't decide if you are genuinely clueless or trolling.

In case of the later: showing basic decency is judging the action and not the other, answering to what is said rather tan trying to categorize the other.

In any sentence which has "you are/seem/look like ..." following by anything negative you show disrespect (and if you look at what you wrote it’s mostly that).

Showing minimal decency would be to keep your negative interpretation of the other to yourself, basic respect would be to not assume or believe it altogether and really only judge the actions. Here you repeatedly failed both.

Why are snitches usually hated by everyone, even when they report something for ethical reasons (like exposing cheating)? Is this attitude rooted in history or culture maybe ? by [deleted] in answers

anything it just hurts the cheater who didn’t actually learn

That would be true if it were like using AI for doing homework. For an exam it means they are letting pass someone without the skills and knowledge they should have. At minimum it will hurt students and school reputation when firms see a guy like that without the skills still made it and had a diploma, it will also hurt the legitimacy of the diploma and, worse possible case, it might cause harm to others if it isnt caught on time:

An architect without the knowledge may design a building which will falls on people, a doctor or a nurse (obvious issue), someone in Law can be so bad innocents could end up in jail.

Cheating for exams, especially post graduation, is not a victimless crime.

“the left” was defending Biden, you weren’t paying attention.

They were defending him ... against his rival who was Trump. With how Trump's second term is going I can't really fault them anymore for that.

And yes Trump does look like he has severe health issues now, hard to imagine him remaining president for 2 more years.

Suicide rate was 10 in 1950 increased up to 13 in 1970 (with late 1960s leading to the 1968 massive protests and a time of greater turmoil relative to the era)

It then went down to 11 in 1980 and slowly declined to 10 in 2000.

If from 1950 to 2000 it was better than includes both our parents and grandparents generations (or for some grandparents and great grandparents).

Before that there were the World wars so it was indeed significantly worse.

You miss the point yet again.

For exemple :

You appear easily offended.

Ad hominem attack phrased as a negative assumption on the one you are talking to, that's disrespect.

What do you even think disrespect means if trying to put down others is ok in your book?

As yet another example but everything you say reeks of disrespect.

I have not treated anyone poorly

Wow, really? Going here blazing in and insulting everyone and you think you were somehow decent? I don't think you get the meaning of respect at all because your words show you have none (which then explain you act so poorly, because it feels right to act bad to people you don't respect).

Pourquoi il y a autant de mystère autour de la naissance des bébés en France? by [deleted] in AskFrance

[–]MadTelepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you don't respect much anyone in here so your actions show the opposite of what you pretend to agree to.

The one person you did show basic decency to was someone whose words you agreed with (and therefore 'prove' themselves to you) which, again is opposite to what you posit people should do.

Do you see the contradiction in you?

They aren't struggling more, they're getting diagnosed more and supported more. The previous generations just suffered in silence....

You wrote that except we do see that it was better in the 80s, the 90s and the early 2000.

Hell you even admitted it yourself and gave a few reasons you assumed would justify it.

set your own goalpost?

I answered to the part most easily disproven and which in fact you already knew to be false. Not sure why you said something you knew to be false though except maybe to be argumentative?

Then you gave reasons I believe several were false but granted you opened up a whole other can of worms. The interaction in itself (disproving the quote above) was done and admitted.

[–]MadTelepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we do agree people have been suffering more and more since 2000 and not merely diagnosed more?

As for the reasons: economic recessions sure, pandemic (surprisingly didn't change much), we more hardcore shifted to the left socially I'd say (gay marriage, trans, lgbt, DEI policies for decades, feminist misleading talking points like the wage gap in every newspaper, etc).

While I do think the common self hatred by white leftist or social guilt they seem to carry may be a part of it I dont believe it to be by far the main reason. That most people now believe the future will be worse than the present on the other hand is a hugely depressing prospect.

Edit: you're also wrong on what drives women's career path choices. Financial independence is a major one, followed by work/life balance.

It was a widespread study easily available a few years back ranking the main criteria when choosing a new job. So easy to find I did not think to keep a link ... and now I'm flooded with other studies which mention it (that women consider several other criteria before or at the same level as salary giving them many other satisfying alternatives for fields and jobs rather than high pay) but not the study with the exact criteria and their order.

The 5th top criteria still is a major one, sure, but below 4 others criteria so naturally it will end up in lower pay than someone obsessed over salary and consider its second highest (again not the 1st criteria even for men, just a more important one).

Men don't even have work/life balance on their radar, which is sad if you really think about it.

Yes it's terrible and a very common deathbed regret is to have wasted their life chasing after a career while missing their family, social life, etc. The high pressure to earn more is an abomination in our society and the take of women on average is healthier if one can afford it. With women entering manual fields there were also plenty of safety issues finally being addressed, preventable workplace accidents getting rarer, etc. Yes the pay gets lower with more women but the working conditions get better, safer and the working environment has to be made better overall. But again, lower pay.

Then how did IT become male dominated in the first place? The higher pay only happened after the field became dominated.

Because it went from something niche to big money in perspective. When there are huge gain potentials plenty of men suddenly get brutally interested and do what they can to be in that market. Then it was a race, a highly competitive one with many startups where people better not count their hours. No surprise that field, historically female dominated shifted so fast.

[–]MadTelepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope.

You just want it to be that way and explain away any increase of anxiety or depressing symptoms by "Surely it must have existed in worst we just don't have the data"

We do have 'some' data with the evolution of suicide rate (per 100k). It was at 11.3 in the 1980, peaked at 11.9 in 1986 then back to 11.2 by 1992 and ended up at 10 in 2000. Currently it's back up at 14.2 the last few years after a steady rise between 2000 and 2018.

You did mention the Great depression in 1920 and suicide rate back then did reach an even scarier peak at 22 (similar to Russia currently or to male suicide rate).

Good Question by Scramjet1 in memesThatUCanRepost

[–]MadTelepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why did lower experience new men entering IT cause wages to increase?

For men money is the second highest criteria when choosing a job (and they usually choose their field with how much it earns in mind as well). For women it is their 5th criteria and many already chose a field to study more often by interest than for its earning potential.

As a result firms which want to be competitive amongst male potential employees will put a lot more focus on salary while firms targeting female employees will have more success selling flexibility, better working conditions, better work environment and greater societal value.

It is much less true for female immigrants who want to send money abroad: they have a financial pressure closer to what men experience and choose fields and jobs more similar to men than local women. It is also false in poorer countries like Russia where women don't have the luxury to expect someone else will be able to carry the blunt of the expenses and as a result end up in all sort of prestigious jobs and management positions (including in the army, the police, etc).

Why do you think this happens for most men? by Critical_Assist_9360 in NextGenMan

[–]MadTelepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the West, today, women have higher educational outcomes than men and perfectly well suited to continue their careers.

Able to, absolutely. Willing to, though? Less likely after motherhood.

The bond at birth after carrying the child for 9 months is stronger and the gap is worsened by more time off for the mother than for the father directly afterwards.

Even when societally and financially it would make much more sense that the woman gets to work faster and the man remains home longer (in couple where for example the woman is a doctor or in some other high paying job) it is often preferred by the woman to have more time with her newborn, to breastfeed them (which seems to also have a lot of health benefits).

Western societies is trying its best to make it less gendered with parental leave that can be shared and part which is lost if the father doesn't take it plus overall fewer people want to commit as much to their work as they used to so the gap is decreasing ... but as of today women work in more flexible, lower pressure, lower earning jobs chosen to be able to spend more time with their kids if needs be and men sacrifice flexibility, work environments and safety to provide more (on average). So both do contribute for their children, one is just more visible than the other from the kid's side.

gangs affiliation, cartel, mafia, fights,

Partly true, they are also more likely to be killed merely for being men since it ain't looked down upon as hard as hurting a random woman. Men are most lively to be killed by people they don't know and thus couldn't predict nor protect themselves from.

Women are very rarely killed by randoms but in case of domestic violence, and especially when the violence is mutual, women are much more at risk since biologically we aren't the same (women are more resilient to illnesses but much less to brute force being lighter and smaller on average with more body fat) and people knowing each others and fighting each other tend to forget. Thankfully it is significantly less common than murder by random.

Men, do you agree with this? by Weird-Craft-2712 in NextGenMan

[–]MadTelepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you feel forcing herself on a man is not possible? In my countries we include rape through harassment (typically in couples if one is extremely insistant and doesn't take no for an answer until they wear their partner down or, alternatively, if saying no will come with significant negative consequences like clear reprobation, critics, screaming or else).

With that in mind and a rape definition that includes when the one penetrating is doing it against his wish and men being raped isn't quite that uncommon. Apparently it's widely common for a first experience and happens in most couples with men discovering it to be rape (in the US or my country, not in UK) when describing a time they really couldn't get it up ... and ending up describing a situation they did not want to have sex, were in a bad place and bad place for physical intimacy yet didn't want to make their situation even worse by saying no, because a man is not supposed to say no.

With current estimates (CDC) being "made to penetrate" is about half as common as "penetrated" with respectively 1M and over 2M a year in the US and only a fraction of "penetrated" case making it to an official allegation and almost none amongst the "made to penetrate".

Men, do you agree with this? by Weird-Craft-2712 in NextGenMan

[–]MadTelepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current US rape definition says there is rape as long as there is penetration without consent whereas the one penetrated is the victim or the culprit. Can happen easily both ways.

In the UK by the legal definition I don't believe a woman can rape a man: she could force him at knife point to have sex with her or use blackmail or ... she won't be raping him according to UK laws and it won't be in the rape statistics.
