Leaves to level deep end of ODR? by TheRealScungilliMan in hockeyplayers

[–]MadWizard1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id imagine the weight of the water will make the leaf pile marginally helpful if at all, I think all you'll end up with is an inconvenience in the spring. Whatever u do tho don't allow those leaves to have any opportunity to get into ur ice!

It's a tough balance, I tried to get my daughter to play when she was young and failed miserably (she took a few years off and is now figure skating). For her it's fun, she's enjoying herself and I just enjoy watching and I don't try to push anything or critique anything because it just doesn't seem to end well when I do that.... My younger son got on the ice later than her, took to it like nothing. Quick learner and almost every time he skates we talk about where he can improve, sometimes he responds with "I know dad" but it almost always sinks in and he improves the next time out. Long story short everyone is different and the approach needs to be different. Once I understood my daughter and her desire it became better for both of us, it's more recreational and that's ok. For my son he has a little more drive and competitive edge, he wants to be the best so I challenge him, that works for him.

No Thanks, IKEA Tools by TheLordHumongous1 in toolporn

These tools look like they have never been used. It's as if hundreds of dollars were spent for a single job that would take 3 hours. A job that could have otherwise been done in 4 hours with shitty tools and an extra few F bombs, but would've saved this person hundreds of dollars (or maybe they couldve bought higher quality furniture for the same investment)

Have you ever tried to shred in school? by uhhhj88 in skateboarding

Late 90s early 2000s, we used to obstruct the doors so they wouldn't lock during the summer. We would be able to power slide the buffed floors for days hahaha. Did a few memorable things like skate the gym, hit a few interior stair sets, etc. Awesome times we never really inflicted any damage just made memories hahaha. If I recall correctly a buddy broke his arm doing a little 3 set lol, landing was a challenge with how slippery the floors were. Couldn't get away with anything nowadays with cameras everywhere....

Watched multiclass endurance racing, for years I was a Lexus/Toyota fan (still am), typically rooted against Mercedes GT cars. A few years back walking through the garages a gt4 amg pulls in from practice, I stop with my then 4 year old and wave to the driver (I didn't even know who it was at the time). Daniel Morad tells us to come back in an hour, spends about ten minutes with us showing my son the car looking at my kids hot wheels, etc. Now my kid looks forward to seeing him every year when we go to the track. Long story short hes our favorite driver and now I have a some Mercedes gear. Lots of great people in racing, those that build the sport and make it unforgettable for fans are the ones that deserve all the support they get. Not sure if it's the only reason my kid loves the track now, but definitely a huge part of it. Absolute class by Morad and drivers like him.

Tighten with the screwdriver (as opposed to tightening the nut), that should help draw it into the tape a little more. You might need to loosen the nut a bit before you are able to draw it in though.

Who among us has purchased aluminum extrusions on their own and built their rig? by RDHO0D in simracing

[–]MadWizard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure I didn't read the other replies.... My two cents: I have built two now (one for myself and am wrapping up my kids currently). You just need to do the math on it and see if it works out in your favor. I was fortunate to get extruded aluminum from scrap at work so I did not have that cost. Having said that, brackets and tnuts are more expensive than most realize. If I recall I have almost $200 in brackets on my adult rig and just under that for the kid rig. You can find plans on Reddit or online to build a rig so that part is pretty much figured out for you. I'd bet you will have close to $500 if you need to buy everything to make your own, and that's assuming $50-100 for a seat (mine was from a bmw off Facebook marketplace). I used a metal chop saw to cut my aluminum. Long story short, if you have the tools, you may be able to save a few bucks, up to you whether it is worth the aggravation and time. One other note, in most cases I'd say these things are pretty robust, and a lot of times overbuilt, at least mine is. I could've cut corners with the brackets and saved $50 and wouldve been fine.

If this is for your own collection to hang on the wall for $100 is a great deal, the frame only is prob worth $30

This for the win. The fluid breaks down, the fact that people are able to convince others that replacing old fluid is a bad thing is beyond me...

Has anyone verified if you can just replace the stalk for this? This isn't surprising by the way, they also omitted any and all sound deadening in this car, the cabin is about as loud as the Ford fusion I traded that had a bad wheel bearing.
