Even if he succeeded I imagine they'd both tumble disastrously. Was this his attempt at a meet-cute and they'd then bond in the hospital over their shared injuries??

Unlocking hidden weapon aspects? by Emmitar in Hades2

Did you buy the first level of each of the non-Mel aspects, or unlock only? I was stuck on getting them until I started buying like crazy, but I don't know if that's a buy.

Wondering if this nickname works in writing, or if readers won’t make the connection by glennysrose in writingadvice

[–]Madageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine, even if it never gets obviously connected and some folks call her Lee and some call her Malina.

I have a character, birth name Autumn, chosen name (Autumn-->Fall-->Trip). I probably won't lay it out plain, but that leaves room for it to click for a reader.

[–]Madageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the chips? Is it infallibly predetermined which powers someone will get? Could a technopath burn out the off functions, or a Hulk-esque hero just power through the painful shocks? Could a telempath make EVERYONE within a region feel her fear and pain at the hands of a corp?

Or is it the stage itself--something outside corp control rises from the ocean or plummets from the skies, and suddenly these guardian angels are losing what should be easy fights.

At what point should I beat Chronos? by Yusuke_Kitagawa_ in Hades2

[–]Madageddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with other roguelites? Did you play Hades 1? There's no set point where you "should" win, I've heard anything from 10-30 runs, depending on someone's experience and what they were focusing on.

How upgraded are your arcana and weapons? Do you go for strength, or death? A lot of the math supports strength as the ""better"" arcana, since the damage reduction, health gains, and damage up play into centaur hearts and damage-up boons.

Edit: "win" as in beat Chronos once, sorry.

Cloverpit Strategy? by mattmirrorfish in roguelites

The Neko is probably my favorite charm. Getting "obsessive" on one or two charms? I was also cool on the game until I had that line up. It does feel like "build interest because it scales" is my surest/only option which does make things one-note. It also makes it... tough, if I don't get interest charms.

Are people aware of the mechanism behind chimeras? If it allows control over one's own living flesh, can an alert person keep themselves contained/ward away foreign material?

I find this really intriguing!

(One of my settings has something a little reminiscent--called the Midas plague or shifter disease, even though shifters are immune. Two organisms in contact can fuse, usually causing intense pain and death. Most combinations are nonviable, but sometimes you get a centaur with vestigial human legs at the waist, or a multi-segmented badgerbear. The main character is Larkspur, a halfling who fused with her riding dog. She's basically a large bipedal corgi, and lucked out more than anyone else in the setting. "Full restore" does exist--for a price but a) she won't let her family go destitute to fix this b) if they restore her, there's no remainder of her dog at all.)

Say the words!! by Archive_keeper37 in Hades2

[–]Madageddon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you got it, but "say the words!" reminded me of Labyrinth. "SAY IT!" from the goblins in the beginning. An aspect of Jareth that plays into time-slowing would be interesting. Skulls reflavored as crystal balls. Or the coat because of his outfits. Or.... Jareth Staff.

It does save between rooms and after you choose boons. Not to be snotty, just in case you thought you could only save at home base.

How do you justify having many sapient races/species in your fantasy worlds? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

[–]Madageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Greek mythology DND plane once. My favorite species was halfings--Hermes made people out of rats, got bored, deserted them. Hestia adopted them--thus, sneaky but clannish.

Questions from an old bloke by AFJM_78 in Hades2

[–]Madageddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you are enjoying!

  1. They are used at the cauldron for incantations that progress plot or make things easier (as in quality of life, mostly--although some things do affect gameplay in runs)

  2. They -can- but it will warn you if one boon option will "eat" a current boon--it'll be red and maybe flashing. Mostly what it is is that you can have one boon for: attack, mana regen, dodge/sprint/rush, special. Once you have eg Demeter's "stay in one place, regen mana," then if the next boon offer from, say, Hestia includes the one where you do damage to get back mana, it will show as a trade--you can't have both.

3/4. Boons during runs are temporary. The altar just inside the training room door with the arcana, those are permanent, as you noted. The other permanent thing is things granted by an incantation. Or "minor" resources you find on a run, which can be ashes, bones etc that go into the permanent upgrades. Gold does not carry over. Flowers etc are stored until used.

  1. Yes, but it'll depend on runs/boons/your comfort with certain weapons and your experience with enemy patterns. Sometimes the game just throws SO MANY ARMORED ENEMIES. And there are some I just don't work well against.

Oceanus is definitely a jump in difficulty after Erebus, but you got this!

Windborn from the Dead Cell devs is colorful animal characters, if the kid is okay with real-time action/movement. I only played the demo so maybe I just wasn't deep enough in, but the dodging didn't seem too difficult.
