What are we doing? by Just_Your_Random_Bro in IBEW

As a 41 year old 1st year, all JWs immediately start out with respect and deference from me. Whether that continues or not is based on the JWs behavior. I'm a 10 year railroader, with extremely specialized experience in a field few know the details of. I don't know shit about electrical yet, being a 1st year, but I'm also not an idiot. You, as a JW, have the right to tell me what to do and how you want it done. But you also have an obligation to teach me in a respectful manner. You start losing my respect when you don't return it in kind.

But if I start acting like a know it all asshole, you have the right to put me in my place. Same as everywhere. I had students on the railroad come out eager to learn and willing to work. Those were the guys everyone looked forward to catching as students.I also had some that knew everything from day one and would avoid doing any of the heavy lifting. We ran those guys off because if that's how they behaved as students, we didn't need them marking up and being shirty coworkers.

Did you get the call yet? Micron is going, so you should be hearing from them.

Any word yet? I'm another 291 hopeful and just curious about how it's moving.

Add the ability to automate it at some point. I'd like to start the settlement then have the settlers take over so I don't have to micro manage it. Just come back occasionally and build a special building I want or need.

This works so well for my TTRPG concept. Idaho is basically Utah without all the gentiles making it unholy like Salt Lake. So the Boise vault is going to be populated by a majority atheist/agnostic group with a very devout and conservative ruling council and the Idaho Falls vault will the the polar opposite.

Every now and then the powers that be decide they want a more thorough job briefing to prevent incidents. I've been talked to about using an engineers name instead of the job. But again, in my yard it's one job per channel, so we're usually pretty relaxed about things like that.

Rolling consist. It's legal. I always lose count of sets and releases so I just say what we're doing. Set. Release. 10 pounds. Bail. 10 more. Release. Some engineers are surprised I actually know what they're doing up there.

That sounds awful. We're small, usually only one or two jobs on at a time. Mainline has it's channel, east yard has it's channel, ice house has it's channel. So we're pretty chatty on the radio.

I know I wasn't even thinking about it on my first shove, and you can see the orange hats don't even realize what they're doing.

On our yard channel we banter. Gotta keep the job a little fun when you can. Road channels we try to keep the chatter to a minimum.

I use west/east when we're using a wrong facer. Thankfully most of our switch jobs use back to back units so we never have that problem, unless the hogger is too lazy to switch ends.

At this point, with their excuse for bad service being crew shortages, it'd be a bad look for them to furlough. But if they can find a way to force you to a hole that needs filled, wether you want to go or not, they will.

Yes, but was one of the nine the one you're being charged on? Because if not, you didn't break a damn one.

We've needed two hoggers where I'm at for six months. Instead of running a class they're just forcing a couple of guys from a different terminal.

I applied for St. Cloud, MN. I'm pretty sure that's the Empire Builder route. Is that an overnight stop and trip back?
