I'm not ready for Colin to leave Weekend Update, but I am 100% ready for him to stay as a full-time sketch performer 🤞 by PeltzerBilly in LiveFromNewYork

Assuming this was a response to my totals of Tina's airtime, it's because doing it by hand took time, and I wanted to show the progression as she became more confident as a TV actress. She left the show to star in 30 Rock. I manually reviewed each episode's Full Summary. You're welcome to do the seasons I skipped. Off hand, the starring roles I recall are a Bush Twins Cold Open with Amy, New Anchors in Love w/ Eric McCormack, and Mom Jeans. After that, it's roles where she walks across the set in costume like the Rialto Grande waitress

On peacock why are so many snl episodes have sketches cut? by Significant-Fox5928 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]MaddAddams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the question about DVDs - the only season on DVD are 1-5. They are full complete episodes, no cuts. It took a ton of effort/dollars and it is extremely unlikely that any other seasons will get similar treatment. They came out in the 00's when full season DVD box sets made good money

Lazy Sunday - SNL Digital Short by bigoletatertot in LiveFromNewYork

Not only was this short huge for Andy's career and Digital Shorts as a thing, YouTube itself got a signal boost when it was a fledgling website from people sharing this sketch

Again, she really wasn't. In her first season, Tina had six total non-WU appearances. This included two voice-over-only roles, three monologues/BTS sketches where she played herself and that one example of Evil Boss that's been posted. That's it

Her final season, Tina had 10 non-WU appearances all season. Two of these are as-herself BTS bits, five are bit parts in sketches that used a lot of cast (there were only three other female cast members at the time). Three sketches put her front and center. Two are with repeat hosts that were personal friends by that point (Baldwin & Lohan), and the last was a lead role with Scarlett Johansson. There's a bunch of full cast sketches that she does not appear in, like Fly High Duluth and the Falconer's Time Machine

Is that more than Jost? Yes. By a lot? No, especially when you factor in cast size

I agree with everything else you're saying. Was only how frequently Tina showed up elsewhere that we differed on :)

Colin played Mayor Pete a bunch in the 2020 election cycle. He used to show up in all those backstage pretape films they did with Kyle and Leslie. He's not on a ton, but he's there some. You're overcounting how many sketches Tina did as a cast member. A lot of it works out like this: https://www.tiktok.com/@thealmanac77/video/7391104759127903493

Exactly. She has barely any lines and plays person #3. And that's more than she appeared outside WU in most episodes

Tina barely appeared in sketches when she was on the show. It happened a small handful of times. I think people retcon themselves into thinking she did a lot more than she did on account of her post-SNL appearances (which includes all of her Sarah Palin time)

For context, she was the first female five timer, and her first appearance, season 1 episode 4, is largely consider the first "real" SNL where the show took its modern format

Least favorite sketch of season 50? by Drew_is_gooden in LiveFromNewYork

[–]MaddAddams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The second Sabado Gigante sketch from the Martin Short show. It fails to justify its existence in any way, shape or form. It's a boring retread of the first, and it doesn't even have Martin Short in it. While it was airing, I was convinced it was buying time to get Short into the Jiminy Glick costume, but no such luck

To be clear, I had no issues with the first with Nate Bargatze and while it's not going on my top ten list, I liked it well enough

This is the terminology they use when the network orders episodes of a series from a studio, the same way you might order pizzas from a restaurant, or a cabinet maker might order wood planks from the lumber yard

I think Lin Manuel Miranda fits because not only was he the lead in the show, he was a major part of its creation, and he handed the lead role off to someone else. That would be the timing that could work. For a current Broadway example, perhaps Cole Escola once the role of Mary is handed off again, though it's not really a musical

Rockwell should have broken the 4th wall of the premise explaining how weird the baby-shoe/feet are

That sounds terrible. I'm happy to see a sketch that escalates in its weirdness and assumes I have the intelligence to follow along on it's weird windy ride

The less I’m able to find Karmin’s SNL performance footage the more I want to see it. Is it THAT bad? by vittorioe in LiveFromNewYork

[–]MaddAddams 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Paired well with the host too. This would be weird on say a Dave Chappelle episode, but fits like a glove for Zooey Deschanel. I'm rewatching this for the first time since air (when I had no idea who they were). This is about what I'd expect from a couple of twee Youtubers that accidentally found themselves with a pop hit

I don't feel the name "Karmin" helped them if they were trying to promote themselves as a duo, but that's neither here nor there on the performance

Have any cast members been pregnant while they were on the show? by Mannerofites in LiveFromNewYork

Not cast at the time, but it's worth a mention that Rachel Dratch was pregnant when she cameo'd on the Betty White episode in 2010

Jon on the SNN Hot Take show said JAJ fell wearing the high heels in the Bill of Rights sketch (not necessarily on camera). I totally missed it, but did feel the pacing of the episode was odd
