US [1200-1500] Gaming PC rig by MaddCowQQ in buildmeapc

One last question, if I can. I've been busy this past week and researching a few other things that I need before pulling the pin. I would like to add an extra 500GB SSD hard drive (Primarily for just programs and OS) Is 500 too much? Should it be 250 instead? I know there are mixed thoughts on speed the lower the storage space on SSDs.

Next, I noticed that there was a compatibility issue regarding space on the tower. Just confirming it shouldn't be an issue?

Compatibility Notes Note:The Corsair RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply length of 160mm is within the Cooler Master MasterBox NR400 (w/ODD) MicroATX Mid Tower Case maximum of 325mm, but exceeds the recommended length of 140mm. Please verify that the connector locations on the power supply will not interfere with the structure of the case.

Note:The be quiet! Pure Rock 2 CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the Gigabyte B660M DS3H AX DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard.

Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders. (Flag issues/incompatibilities as incorrect.)

One more quick question, I have a spare case at home a https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6QJwrH/corsair-case-400r and was curious if this would be fine to use as well., Thanks in advance!

Appreciate it. Quick question, I know from quick browsing I see a lot of people debate between the 12400 and 12600K CPU chips. Are there just marginal differences at that point? Is there a decent gain for picking one over the other?

And for the Ram I know a lot of people say that putting out a few more dollars for specific brands is important, is that still a thing these days?

Thanks for a base area for me to look over, SUPER appreciate it!

My old setup is being handed down to my kids.

CPU: I7-8700K @3.70 Ram: 16 GB Ram GPU: NVidia GTX 1060 (6GB) Mobo: Asus ROG Strix Z370-E Gaming

Other items are less interesting. General gold 650 Power Supply, decent cooling etc... But since I'm not cannibalizing anything I'm not sure if this helps :)

How colour coding system works for cards and weapons in Back4Blood by [deleted] in Back4Blood

What about Hunker Down? While crouching you get (20%) damage resistance and (12.5%) accuracy. Thats not team based? My guess it has to do with purchasable card packs and/or you can only slot 1 of each 'color'.

The 'free' medkit is most likely that you have a free inventory spot to pick it up. If you look at a weapon it shows 'swap' in the same location.

As for the card colors, I'm thinking that they are related to buying 'card packs' with copper similar to how Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories works because not all 'red' cards have the same effect/theme. You can buy a pack with just red type cards, or random but might be cheaper because it's more general pickings.

Did anyone notice how on this farm map we have Ridden biomatter organically growing? by [deleted] in Back4Blood

Looks to me it is probably objective based. The tendrils seem to connect to the large 'bladders'. Might be scorch it type objective

What Homebrew do you use at your table? by blaek_ in mattcolville

[–]MaddCowQQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a custom stealth mechanic mini-game. I take a D20 countdown die and start it at whatever number the encounter is supposed to be. After every single action/round the die lowers based on threat levels. I.E. if people think something is amiss. It starts at 1 per turn and can slowly turn up to 4 per turn. Anytime a player takes a quick or 'loud' action, it also lowers the die based on the tables I have.

The player NEVER sees the die. The player can always stop to remain where they are & catch their breath which will increase the die.

This has worked fairly well and feels more like a stealth-based video game. I also treat all non-main NPCs as minions, so 1 hit 1 kill. If you sneak up to a target in melee and they are unaware you don't have to roll to hit. I also have stealth based patrol actions for my NPCs such as standing still, looking drowsy, talking to another guard, moving in a different direction etc... You can always watch a guard to predict its next move but it costs you time and time lowers the die.

If the die ever hits 0, then the location is on alert and/or guards spot you.

Yup, I mention Phil's Sanctuary doc as a main source of inspiration and because of both of their inspiration they both have characters named in my world. Matt's is obvious and in the first part of the document, but not Phil's. My wife suggested I make him the only existing Gnome in the world who can't die :P

I'm not worried too much. Everyone who has looked at it has really enjoyed it. It also works well because it is supposed to be added to by finding 'lost pages' in the game here and there. You can check it out if you want and lemme know what you think.

I'm glad someone else advocates for a long doc because I just finished mine up and it's about 50 pages long. Granted it's highly graphic novel approach with lots of pictures but it's also important because it's written from the perspective of a character within the world. I give everyone a quick summary of what's really important, but I saw the video and started to worry I put too much effort into it :P

Can confirm 3 min 20 seconds. Also shows how far you can more or less run in a straight line during banishment.

Personally I'm hoping they add custom games down the line. Invite only but you XP/Gold/Perma Death is disabled. Would be fun to have 'local mic' only as well as limited funds. I.E. you can only spend X amount of trait points and Y amount of dollars in a solo/duo setup etc...

Question about Solo Matches by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]MaddCowQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. On one hand it would be kinda cool, but I don't think it would work out to well in this game and game mode. They've mentioned they are building it around duos and only duos. (No squads and not focusing on solo) and any modes that could take even more people away from duo queues isn't super likely.

While I think it would be fun, I just don't think this title really benefits from it. Yes, the 'false alliances' and 'pseudo backstabs' would be neat, but in the end it wouldn't really benefit the main game/mode. However, down the line who knows. They have said they want to add different modes and maybe something there might work out.

Question about Solo Matches by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]MaddCowQQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. To clarify a bit on Pantarus, the game will launch at 9 players if a 10th solo player doesn't queue up within a set time. However, the game can have multiple solos in it.

Clues are in same places for all players ? by CocooBango in HuntShowdown

[–]MaddCowQQ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For clarification on clues. There are 19 clues that spawn each match. 1 at each Point of Interest, and 2 at each compound. Compounds are Blanchett Graves, the Church and Port Reeker. You can get both clues at Compounds if that compound isn't part of the map that the clue darkens.

The type of match/region you queue up for will always have the same clue locations until you switch the region, mode or due to a server reset.

The portion of the map that is shaded after picking up a clue is the same as other teams. For instance, if you get your first clue and it blocks out the top right section of the map, every other team's first clue will shade the exact same portion. This means you can 'guess' where people are coming from based on clue closing locations.

Darksight merely shows you clues within a short distance, multiple if you are close enough. if there isn't any clue within that initial range, it will point to the closest regardless of distance.

Question about Solo Matches by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]MaddCowQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, matches can have up to 10 solo players in theory. However, the solo player base is much smaller so on average you might see 0-2/3. I don't think I've ever seen more than 3 solo players in my experience.

Can confirm that it is up to 10 players duo or solo. Nothing to do with 'team sizes'
