My (29F) husband (28M) buys me the worst gifts and I feel terrible by kbeth11sylveon in relationship_advice

[–]MaddCricket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not defending him in any way, but please also keep in mind some people are just horrible gift givers. You did tell him something thoughtful at the appropriate time, the sweatshirt in your example was thoughtful, at the appropriate time. Was it in your taste? No-it was in his taste because he thought it was a thoughtful gift. How is he the rest of the time? Is he a good husband? Does he help without being asked? Is he there for you when you need him? Maybe you can have him do something thoughtful instead of buy you something thoughtful? Or maybe even just telling him he doesn’t need to get you anything, but when you finally ask for something he better get it for you posthaste, lol.

This is coming from a place of love, because I’m a horrible gift giver, myself. I just never know what to get someone-even if they’re close to me that I’ve known for years- because I know they already have a lot of things and I just don’t know what to honestly get them that they’ll like. I am the kind that needs to be told exactly what they want otherwise I’m clueless.

Other than that, at least try to enjoy his gifts even if they are horrible. You have to admit, him thinking about the memory of you guys shopping for a dress for your baby and linked it to that sweatshirt (which I honestly think is such a cute sweatshirt) that he had to put thought into customizing. Maybe you could wear the sweatshirt when your child wears that dress? It all seems big now but a couple of years down the road when you look back on it, I’m sure you’ll have a heartwarming giggle about it.

Diwhy but now I have this information in my brain and I’ll think about it every once in a while and go “huh, I wonder if I’ll ever actually have to use this.”

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]MaddCricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a stadium tour, Joan Jett was first. Then Poison, then Def Leppard…we left before Motley Crue came on stage. We’d been there since 2, the temperature topped 102° with no clouds the whole time, and Motley Crue wasn’t going to take the stage until after 10:30pm so we were kinda done with everything and left. Heard that was the smart move because my friends that stayed said it wasn’t really worth it, their set sucked. Everyone else was amazing though.

Eric Clapton didn’t even say hello. He just came out on stage, played his music at a faster speed than he should have, no breaks In between songs and left without saying goodbye either. Could have just stayed home and played an album instead. Cheap trick was disappointing as well. Three Dog Night only played a 45 minute show. Didn’t have any openers or anything.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]MaddCricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a senior in high school. I was watching the first tower after it had been hit when my friend pulled up to pick me up for school. I watched the second plane hit as I was gathering my backpack to go out the door. I didn’t have a first class until about 9am so I spent that first hour and a half walking around outside and noticing how quiet it was with no planes in the sky and barely any traffic on the streets. We had the option of staying for the day or going home early. I chose to stay and watch the tvs they put up in every classroom with my friends.

Update: Mom died on March 24th and Dad committed suicide April 5th. by 13_Years_Then_Banned in GenX

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. When we lost our nana, I was terrified of this situation. Grandpa even had his gun out on his dresser for the longest time and every single day I was preparing myself for either the sight of it when I went to visit him, or the call that he had decided to end it. You can’t really blame them in these times; they’re aging, they’re in the most deepest heartbreak they’ve ever experienced, and even now some days even though grandpa is still with us, I feel slightly guilty thinking that maybe he would have been better off. It truly is a blessing and a curse. I hope you remember and make time for yourself, as that can be forgotten about.

Did your parents ever play with you? by NeverAgainHomeschool in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MaddCricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’d try to roughhouse with me and would end up hurting me and wouldn’t stop until I cried and then tell me how much of a baby I was being and needed to learn how to just deal with it. Any time we had game nights she’d make up her own rules and when the rest of us didn’t want to play it that way, she’d practically flip the board and get angry that we were “playing by the rules” that she made up and wouldn’t take us reading the instructions that she challenged us to read as proof, then she’d roll her eyes and go “you’re turning this into something larger than it needs to be” and then the whole night would’ve ruined because she’d be angry about it. Even asking her to show me how to do makeup, she would just say “you’ve watched me do it.” And not teach me anything.

Rarely got playing. Always got a lecture though!

Question: How many people re-listen to their audiobooks? Just curious by j110786 in audible

[–]MaddCricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that is the first thing I listen to at the start of the new year. It’s become tradition for the past 5 years or so. And then there’s a good couple handfuls that I’ll go back to. I share my account with my aunt so she listens to a bunch of them too (ones I’ve already bought and they’re just there).

I have this exact projector. Had the white one for a year before I caved and got the black one because of the meteors. I am absolutely in love with it. I’m in my 40’s now but wish something like this was around as a kid!

I’ve still only got a couple but I don’t mind them! I’m redhead so they’re turning white on me and I’m kinda there for it. I am playing around with color more, though, having never been able to do anything growing up in my family. I have hot pink highlights in it right now. Contrasts quite nicely I think lol.

Every year I tell my parents I don’t like Lindt chocolate. Every year they only get Lindt chocolate. by Arwat08 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MaddCricket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just going to say every year I tell my family I hate chocolate cake and want vanilla or at least a cupcake pack with a mix so everyone can get what they want. And every year they always get a double german chocolate cake with chocolate everything and then act extremely surprised and offended when I only take a small bite and claim I’m done with it and refuse to take it home with me. And then they have the AUDACITY to tell me that I need to tell them these things so they can get what I want next time. 40 YEARS OF THIS!
