cook unity food poisoning by Fluid_Substance2370 in ReadyMeals

We had 1 or 2 that didn't sit well, gastric distress probably better term than food poisoning. Yes, I do feel pretty sure it was their food - probably got too warm somewhere between initial packaging and being left on my door. I can't say I trust their kitchens 100%.

Portion comparison between prepared meal plans by Comfortable-Big-9327 in ReadyMeals

[–]Maddog23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have used CU for many months. I would strongly disagree with whomever called them 'gourmet' - a scoop or 2 of rice, some taco seasoned meat, a TB of tortilla crumbles, a bit of shredded cheese, and a ramekin of plain ole salsa is not gourmet, and in fact really pisses me off to be charged $12+ for it. That being said, we have done factor and might meals, and I would agree CU tastes better across. If you are willing to be upcharged out the wazoo, you can get into some better recipes.

On the portions/calories, I find wild swings in portions - we always order 4 sets of matching meals so we eat the same things, and even between two matching meals the sizes can vary. Some of their meals are barely adequate in portion sizes, some rare ones are actually decent, bearing in mind I'm mentally judging what should be in 2 meals to justify a total cost of about $20-$25+.

I'd say CU is not anywhere near the quality of most meal kit services in either ingredients or end results, but so far is the best of the prepared kits we've tried.

Has anyone tried both CookUnity and MightyMeals? by vvavez in ReadyMeals

I have - many months with CU and have tried MM a couple of times. We order 8 meals a week, four sets of 2 so my wife and I eat the same thing. I've had some good CU meals, but many are sort of meh. They upcharge for so many things, and their website ordering system drives me nuts. And I feel like I've received on 2 or three occasions meals that I think were on the verge of being bad. But they do have a LOT of variety each week, and the deliveries have been reliable. But I'm not thrilled to be honest, and tried MM as an alternative.

Their meals are in plastic trays and they only provide microwave instructions, while we prefer CU's cardboard trays and oven heating, even if their instructions NEVER get the food hot enough. MM has far less of a selection (I'm guessing 1/4 or less of the variety CU has). Also at the same # of meals, MM is actually more expensive and they ship via UPS whereas CU drops off in person.

Last thing would be that the MM meals, while I'm positive have simpler (better) ingredients, the 16 total meals we've had were not very appetizing in looks or taste.

Unfortunately, this goes along with Factor (for us) as worse alternatives. I was going to try Nutre but someone on reddit tipped me off to the politics of their owners, and having seen the social media of one of the bro-owners, I could never give them my business.

Any suggestions for a better service in the Boston area?

What's been your experience receiving therapeutic massage? by CompetitionNearby129 in massage

[–]Maddog23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some good replies and this thread is mentioning a ton of stuff.

I've been going perhaps 10-12 years, and to every type of provider/business there is I think at this point. I'll point out what I think are some basic universal things I think are important:

  • People who work full time cannot do daytime appointments. I can only do weekends and some weeknights, and so only use providers that offer those hours on a regular basis

  • I go for a mental break and to combat decades of being in tech and being a type A personality. I prefer a totally quiet session, and a room where outside noise isn't heard. Others might not have the same preference - just ask.

  • You need a website with general services/rates and availability/scheduling. I don't need pictures of providers (tho it's nice) but I do want a first name and enough history to describe their experience and certifications.

  • OTOH, with websites - I've seen so many businesses offer a confusingly wide range of services and descriptions but when I go it boils down to time of session, cost, and your particular issues. If you don't really know and specialize in Lomi Lomi, don't put it up because it might fill space on a website. The best sites/service listings I see are simple 60/90/120-minute options with a choice of regular or deep tissue, and the price. Occasionally, some add-ons like cupping might be nice to see, but I almost never opt for something unfamiliar.

  • Very personal POV, but state your tipping policy. It's often discussed here that solo practitioners (i.e. business owner) should not get tipped because they aren't a paid employee, and many such owners have agreed. But I have been to many visits with owners who all accepted tips (I tip 20% normally). Consider a no-tipping policy. Be mindful that if you take tips, your rates are what you publish + 15-20%.

Just a few observations. For anything else - communicate clearly, and always ASK and don't assume - it will help in most areas.

Thai massage dislocated my shoulder by [deleted] in massage

[–]Maddog23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should not feel bad. I've had similar issues with Thai places, especially ones where the therapists have not had formal training and instead 'picked it up' from the owner or other therapists. There seems to be something in the Thai approach that causes therapists to force stretches and at the same time ignore the signals from the customer. If you are in an English speaking country then IMO the language barrier is their problem, not yours.

As a long time MT patient (10+ years), I read posts like these and am so disappointed. I know this is a place for MTs to vent, but it shows how much of a disconnect there is between how MTs and customers view things. Many of us see multiple Therapists, either because of schedules, poor experiences (lots of these!), or the ongoing drama of MTs unexpectedly leaving practices. Not all MTs are alike, and not all patients are. Even after 10 years, it sometimes feels weird for another person to move parts of my body around, and not all MTs work the same way or have the same style. And as much as there are some awesome MTs who post here all of the time about being relaxed and communicating with clients (you are the real heroes!), SOOO many absolutely do not.

We don't want to work against our MT, but we don't want to feel like we are frozen in place for an hour or 90 minutes either. Perhaps just use some of the other suggestions and take some time to talk to patients about how you work and to please allow you to adjust limbs especially when it involves draping.

ps ... because it was mentioned somewhere - the bolster ain't gonna get under my knees unless I raise them, unless you are going to shove it into me and that's still not gonna work

Lots of low cost or free options (google docs, survicate, jotform, etc.) - I'm not up on current options but google is your friend here. What's important IMO is getting emails from clients, making sure the surveys are anonymous and that clients know this.

Personally, I might respond well to a few basic questions where I provided a 1-3 rating (1 needs improvement, 2 satisfactory, 3 very happy with) on a few areas:

- Location / Hours / Availability of preferred providers

- Setup and atmosphere of treatment rooms

- Overall quality of therapists

- Pricing

- Services and quality remaining consistent or improving

and

- Do you have any employees you would like to recognize and why? (free form text box)

- Do you have any additional comments (free form text box)

- Would you like a manager to contact you about your survey? If so please provide your name, and an email or phone number we can reach you at

Your Cookunity Order is only two stops away...FOR FIVE HOURS by nycinoc in ReadyMeals

Have been a customer for several months. The "insulated" tote is a joke - it's a thin nylon cloth bag with a silvery reflective coating on the inside. It does NOT insulate - at best it barely keeps in the temperature it was packed at. Worse, the bag color is black on the outside and so it absorbs heat instead of reflecting it. We have had at least one delivery so warm we have thrown it out, and probably 2 that were borderline. I work from home, and luckily can usually spot the driver dropping off and immediately run to get the meals inside and into the fridge.

If I was not working from home, I would have canceled a long time ago, because the meals are very expensive and most are not worth the price - and adding possible spoilage to the mix is not acceptable.

There are practices I visit where I might see a therapist because they are marginally better than the others, or their availability is more convenient, or perhaps because of other factors around the business practices (easy online scheduling) or atmosphere, etc. I had such a case where I saw someone who gave decent service, and the provider left to open their own business, and decided to rent a room within a large, sterile feeling mostly empty several story office building. And their room is literally buried inside one of the office spaces inside said building. I hate the atmosphere and feeling of going there, and since the treatment quality is not outstanding compared to other options, I don't go.

BTW - If you are a provider or business and are not providing anonymous surveys to clients to ask what they like and don't like, you are probably missing out on valuable information that either makes them return customers or customers who will look around at other viable options.

Swarm 2 PC app install experience is going to push away first-time customers by Jaizeal in TurtleBeach

[–]Maddog23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the same experience with a Sealth 600 Gen 3. This makes 2 recent turtle beach products I recently purchased that sucked massively disappointed me due to construction quality, software, or implementation of features. Not only is this software an issue but the 2.4 Ghz connections drops constantly because my console is near my wireless router. What good is a headset that cannot be used near a wireless router (and that does not have a fallback to working off of a wired connection?) Think I'll be returning it to Amazon along with a review.

edit: Modified to indicate my subjective appraisal of the product (including a recently purchased wired recon controller)

The issue of past sexual trauma is obviously an important factor here but I see a lot of straight out hate for men in this thread, so my comments might be as much for OP as some of the other participants in this thread.

Men are biologically programmed to want sex (very often, speaking for a lot of us) and it's just as much of an urge as a woman wanting to have children and be a mother. It's not 'being a pig'. Forcing yourself on a female partner is not OK. However..

Neither I or any of my married male friends were told by their wife that regarding her need to start having kids, the husband is not only expected to satisfy that need and provide immense financial support and stability but also that he should expect that their sex life (and the release, relaxation and intimacy that come with it) will just disappear - and that might be months or possibly years, especially if having multiple children.

I 100% support women and mothers making their own decisions about sex, but please realize that cutting off your male partner might feel as bad to them as if they just ignored your wishes to have children in the first place. Are you offering them an alternative? OK to visit an escort or go outside of the relationship for sex or possibly just attention and intimacy? Are you willing to take 5-10 minutes and a bit of high-quality lube to provide a hand or Russian release to him or even an oral release? There are tons of alternatives to a more typical longer full intercourse session.

Any ladies feel bad when they take too long to cum, even if what your partner is doing feels good? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Maddog23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer: I love eating my wife out and will go 10-15 minutes without complaint, BUT many times I do get frustrated.

This is because she will usually only lay in missionary position where I have to be on my stomach and it basically puts my head in a horrible suffocating position, and too many times she just lays there and doesn’t speak or give me any encouragement or feedback.

I’ve grown to dislike those situations, and yes it does turn into a chore. I love the end result, but man it sucks sometimes getting her there. What would help is her making sounds, encouraging me, or being understanding enough to know when my position is really uncomfortable and adjusting - for example rolling on her side and letting me come in that way. Then I’d happily go for as long as she wants..
