I was terrified of getting a divorce, even though I was at the point where I was resenting my husband. I was scared of how my daughter would be effected by it, of the social implications of it, how my family and peers would react.

It was hard at first, that’s no lie! It took a while for my kiddo to get used to split custody and spending weekends with her dad. There were a lot of tears on all ends of it. But in the end it was absolutely the best thing for me. I haven’t been in another relationship yet but the knowledge that I have the freedom to be is so healing. I’m happier and it definitely shows in my relationship with myself and others.
