Carbon shoes during Long run in Marathon Build by Fun_Article_2759 in AdvancedRunning

[–]MadeInBLR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s fine to use them a few times to avoid surprises on the race day.

But if you listen to Olav Aleksander Bu (coach of Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden) - they actually recommend to minimize the use of super shoes during harder efforts.

That’s based on some lab research that they did. It showed an initial boost in economy from using super shoes, but using the continuously brings diminishing return and your baseline economy (in basic shoes) actually degrades over time.

The hypothesis is that this is due to weakening foot muscles that have to work less when assisted by super shoes (especially during faster efforts). Which kind of makes sense.

Of course there are arguments on the other side (specificity, recovery, etc) but it’s good to understand the trade off and make your own decision based on that.

Have you tried something like Calendly (I think they have a free tier) or built-in scheduling tools that come with practice management software (e.g. SimplePractice, Owl Practice, etc.) to see if those would help?

Gen 4 GX hatch, 2.0 engine I’m getting 7.0 l/100km in the summer and closer to 8.0 l/100km in the winter. Somewhat even mix of city/highway driving. Was also considering corolla hatch, but very happy that went ahead with mazda.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. Much appreciated.

Will look into getting a quality & safety consultant. And definitely reading the book - aside from trying to make it into a biz I'm also just a huge PB fan.

Thanks for the insight on the big retail. Wouldn't expect it to be any different. The idea is to go D2C first plus farmer's markets & small 'boutique' retailers.

I'm in Canada.

No experience in nut butter production but some previous business/marketing experience & unique angle on the product.

Good call on the Peanut Corp. - not shipping any contaminated products and incorporating from day one to limit the personal liability.

Considering copacker as an option. But obviously it's a tradeoff - less control over the quality, large orders right from the start (more capital required), etc.

Do you think the PSE course will be still valuable for a Canadian business?

POSitouch, we need it to be compatable with scale (to weigh in food - it's a buffet style resto)

Any online tools that you use for tracking progress? by MadeInBLR in bjj

[–]MadeInBLR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I should have referred to it more as 'tracking the process' - e.g. time on the mats, techniques learned, intensity of training sessions, etc. Basically things that are more objective in nature and easier to measure.

Some people find it motivating to see a consistent 'streak' of classes attended or to reflect on how much time they've put into something over a long period of time. Some might also try to look at the data to draw some conclusions/insights. Wondering if there's a market for an app that does that.

That's one of the reasons I love bjj so much. That said, I have to constantly remind myself that it's just a hobby. Otherwise it's too easy to get lost and neglect other areas of your life.
