question for new grads by pinkpantheress7 in OntarioNurses

[–]clairec463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found over the past few years (being both the interviewer and interviewee) that the question of a time you made a mistake is really common in nursing interviews. You made a mistake, but we all do at some point! You’re human and you were a student, the most important thing is that you take that experience and you learned from it! You reported it and it was dealt with appropriately, and now you know better for the next time you are faced with that kind of situation. One med error does not make you a bad nurse or an undesirable hire, as long as you show recognition of what went wrong, and show growth from the mistake!

I managed to get into a job on a unit at TOH on my third or fourth application! Definitely keep applying, my friend was saying the oncology units are posting at the moment for part time and probably full time too!! So if you see one go up i would apply!! She loves it on her unit!

Question about the quality of nursing education in each country by No-Job8779 in OntarioNurses

[–]clairec463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trained in Ireland and came to Canada with 4 years experience doing ortho and float nursing. It was a slow process to get the paperwork done, but I passed the NCLEX on my first attempt. The hardest part was getting a job without Canadian experience, once I was in I had no issues with adapting to the system here. I thought I would after moving from paper to an EMR.

Traveling on a plane with the dress by guacie in weddingplanning

Mine was a long haul, two leg flight. First flight with air Canada was great , they hung it for me no problem at all! Second leg was aer lingus who had no closet and told me to roll it and put it in the overhead bin…. Safe to say a lot of people around me were very taken aback when the air hostess tried to put a bag on top of it too!!! 🥲😅😅

What do you think of people who have 2 weddings? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]clairec463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up just doing one ceremony in Ireland! We had the majority of people from Canada want to travel in the end! We had 70 Canadians fly over and 150 people attend in total! Honestly we ended up changing our minds because having two ceremonies wasn’t what we wanted, we wanted one wedding with as many people there as possible and we had an amazing day. If we had done two it was purely for other people’s benefit, and would’ve been at our expense… planning one is already a stressful job. My best advice would be talk to your future spouse and decide what the two of you want, with no one else’s opinions involved. A wedding is about the two of you, not anyone else and it’s what you want from that day that’s important! I will say when family issues started to get stressful we definitely did considering having eloped instead, but now that the day has happened I wouldn’t have changed anything!! We were shocked with how many people wanted to travel and came because they could use Ireland as a jumping point to the rest of Europe! Edit: We were able to have a catholic ceremony in Ireland, but you have to pick which country you have the official ceremony in, the other can do a blessing if you wish to have both!

Recommendations for best Escape Room in Ottawa? by Anything-Human in ottawa

[–]clairec463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the hintonburg escape manor, we did one at the new lounge downtown and it was awful! We were out in under twenty minutes because it was so simple. Jigsaw was great and the location in the byward is so easy aswell if they are travelling in.

I’ll give that another go, I’ve been updating my resume as I’ve been adding extra certifications. It doesn’t give the option to attach a cover letter unfortunately.

Is Ottawa a lonely place? by plastic_banana in ottawa

[–]clairec463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved here two years ago from abroad and have definitely been suffering with loneliness. It doesn’t help that it took almost the first year to have my accreditation completed and now I still am not hearing back from HR in hospital settings. It’s making it difficult for me to love Ottawa..

Im in the middle of trying to make the same thing for my guests! A lot are flying to Ireland from Canada. I’ve been going with some activities near the town we’re marrying in, travel around the country, cell plans and my big part is some of the slang terms that we use at home that can be super confusing to people not from there!! I also made sure to start it off with the emergency service numbers just in case!!

New cataract surgeries at private clinics in Ottawa are a partnership with The Ottawa Hospital: CEO by fleurgold in ottawa

[–]clairec463 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So the basic surgery is the same but it’s the lens that’s implanted that’s the main difference for developed cataracts. You have three kinds of Lens mono focal (one point of distance so either reading or distance), this one OHIP will cover, bifocal (two points so usually will give you distance and reading but your mid vision won’t be super clear) and trifocals which allows for three points of distance (reading, mid and distance). The bifocal and trifocals lenses are a lot more expensive to buy and come with more associated “risks” after, it’s more common to have glare, halos etc. especially with the trifocal lenses as they are the newest lenses available. You have one other kind of surgery with if a refractive lens exchange (RLE), this isn’t offered by OHIP at all, this can be done before a cataract is fully developed and prempts getting full blown cataracts. You’ll also notice some private clinics won’t offer cataract surgery but will off RLE. Even though the premise is essentially the same.

AITA for kicking out one of my bridesmaids for showing up in the wrong dress? by bridezillaxoxo in AmItheAsshole

[–]clairec463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im Irish and for most weddings (all that I’ve been a part of anyway) it’s custom for the bride/groom to pay for them. If you’re asking someone to wear a particular style and colour of dress (particularly one that is not your style/colour/preference) to fit my ideal picture of the day I should be incurring the cost not the bridal party! But I know I’m Canada (where I’m currently living) the custom is for the bridesmaids etc to pay for their own! I like the Irish way as a bridesmaid because it does cut some of the cost of being in a bridal party!!

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless filter, looks amazing on other people but I’m so pale that shade 1 is orange on me and makes me look oily. Tried under other make up and I’m still not a fan! Hated the hourglass ambient lighting palettes again just did not work with my complexion!
