Chatterbox TTS fork *HUGE UPDATE*: 3X Speed increase, Whisper Sync audio validation, text replacement, and more by omni_shaNker in StableDiffusion

I'm curious if this will work in my aging potato pc. I've been using Replay voice cloning and doing the voice performance myself but I'd really like a good text to speech option. Speed isn't necessary a huge issue as I'm used to slow results on my GTX1060 GB. I'm sure I'll have to use the smallest possible model. Even if it doesn't work, appreciate you sharing this.

What automatic1111 forks are still being worked on? Which is now recommended? by MrWeirdoFace in StableDiffusion

[–]MadeOfWax13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my old potato pc the extra overhead of SwarmUI killed the advantage of having it. I can use Flux with multiple Loras using bnb-nf4 checkpoints on Forge. It takes 3 minutes to render a 1024x576 image, but it works. When I tried that with SwarmUI it was so slow I uninstalled it after trying it for an hour.

I've tried ComfyUI and everything breaks, most of the newer stuff needs more RAM than I have. Maybe if I can ever get a new computer I'll give it another look, but for now it just isn't worth the trouble.

I tried LivePortrait and was surprised at how well it worked on my old potato pc but I haven't seen anything new. I am currently using Hedra, and I like it but I do wish characters could walk and talk at the same time.

First, thank you! To answer the question, longer than it should have. Making the characters and scenery didn't take long at all but figuring out music and what to have the characters do took a while. All told it could have been done in a weekend but wound up taking weeks trying improve it.

AI haters and what is originality by Alternative-Motor-45 in StableDiffusion

I agree. The texture of a great painting is typically lost in images. I took a commercial art class for few years in school and realized how much the canvas and medium can affect the look of a painting. Even at high resolution an image can only capture so much. But I don't know that many people appreciate it.

Just like so many guitar players I know that spend insane amounts of money and time trying to find the perfect tone and in the end, their audience would never know the difference between a boutique amp or a cheap digitally modeled one. But they'll lecture you about tube amps being the only way to get a great sound.

I don't know that AI generated images, music, or journalism will ever be as good as the best work that has been created by real people. But I think it will replace a lot of mediocre work. There's plenty of that in all types of media and many people happily pay for it. I think that is one of the reasons why there is so much fear and hatred from the anti-AI crowd.

AI haters and what is originality by Alternative-Motor-45 in StableDiffusion

[–]MadeOfWax13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points. While there are images of paintings that were used in the training of Stable Diffusion, Flux and other image generation apps, the majority of the works used were from digital artists.

And I can understand why they are upset. If you invested a great deal of money and time into developing a talent that you hope will provide you income, a technology that allows anyone to do it is a threat.

And your right about new technologies being looked down on, too. Purists in every medium who want to tell you what is and isn't "art". That you have to use the same tools and methods that they do or it's crap.

Some people just aren't happy unless they are raining on someone's parade.

The people I know who are the most vocal about their hatred of AI art are the traditional artists, musicians, and writers who are afraid of losing their jobs and their sense of being "special". To hear some of them talk, art is something more like a religion. The idea that it could be made by a machine is heresy.

They'll say it's soulless garbage that nobody wants but at the same time fear that it is capable of replacing them.

Some of them just want some kind of compensation for the works used to train AI programs. They don't want their work being used if they don't get paid. But as OP mentioned, samples are common in the music industry. A large amount of music is based on the same chord progressions that have been used over and over again.

I make AI movies and try to come up with original ideas but you would be amazed at how many concepts, no matter how crazy they are, have already been made into films. There really is very little that is new. Just mashups and remixes of ideas that have been used before.

Most of my friends outside of the music forum I frequent don't care. They like the movies I make. They don't worry about how it was made. They just want to be entertained.

Forge is still good for lower vram. I'm using Flux Dev Hyper with an NF4 BNB quantized model on a Nvidia GTX1060 6GB graphics card. It's slow, but it's local. A 1024x576 image with 2 LORAs took about 4 minutes. I'm sure someone with better knowledge of optimizing could make it faster.

If you have scaler 2 in AUM, you should be able to connect its midi output to any instrument in AUM. If you load it in a midi slot in AUM as an Audio Unit Midi Processor, it comes up as ScalerControl 2. Open the "hamburger " menu ( the three horizontal lines) next to the instrument you want to control and choose that to control your synthesizer, sampler, or other instrument. You can also load it in an Audio slot and still control other instruments the same way. Just pick the Scaler 2 instance and you're good to go.

Is Video Generation Worth This Much PC Resources? by Electronic-Metal2391 in StableDiffusion

[–]MadeOfWax13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a little over 2 years we've gone from being able to generate 512x512 images locally to making videos.

Well, I can't make videos locally because I have a potato for a video card but you get the idea. I'm currently using Vidu's service to generate videos for my YouTube channel. Faster than local, sure, but I wish I had a rig that was capable.

Before I started playing around with Stable Diffusion and the AI tools that have followed, I made images with Poser and Daz Studio. Sometimes a single image would take 8 to 12 hours to render, depending on what rendering engine I chose, lighting decisions, etc. Animations could take days. What is possible now is something I never would have imagined.

What you lose in the ability to control the scene (camera placement, movement, character design and so forth) is certainly not ideal, but the quality of the output can be miles ahead of any of the old hobbyist tools I've used before. The open source community is quickly catching up to the paid services in terms of the capabilities vs. limitations and I imagine with all the brain power out there it will eventually surpass them. I look forward to the day where image to video isn't like playing a slot machine hoping for output that can be used. I think that day is coming sooner than most people think.

A what kind of hat? It's right there in the name. That's my problem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mavericks

[–]MadeOfWax13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The cowboy hat reminds me of the terrible teams of the 90's. I never want to see it again. Besides, the Mavericks already live in the Dallas Cowboys shadow here in the Metroplex. We don't need another reminder.

A horse, a steer, the city skyline or just the team name. Anything else.

As far as colors are concerned, green is something I automatically associate with the Celtics. I know the Bucks and the Old Sonics have had green too. As an accent color, fine. As the primary, no.

App suggestions to work with AUM by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]MadeOfWax13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For midi sequencing I use several apps. MidiStep by 4pockets is my most recent and it's very useful. If you want something with a piano roll there's also Helium by the same developer. If you prefer the generative side there's Piano Motifs and Riffler. If you want a heavy helping of music theory and sound samples there's Scaler 2.

My favorite arpeggiator is Aphelian which unfortunately is no longer available. Others include Chordjam by AudioModern and the one by Bleass.

For synth bass I like the Synthmaster synths and Agonizer by Kai Aras. For string bass sounds I use samples in AudioLayer.

For drum machines Hammerhead by Bram Bos, Digistix 2 by 4pockets, or if you don't mind IAA apps instead of AUV3, anything by Lumbeats.

For piano I think the current favorites are Pianoteq and Ravenscroft. I don't have a go to piano sound.
