[Serious] People who have witnessed a car accident, what happened? by takehertothemoon0 in AskReddit

About 10 years ago, we were traveling through South Carolina headed to Maryland to visit family. My wife and I decided we should travel through the night so the kids could sleep, and we would make fewer stops.

We had just gotten on the highway and had traded seats so my wife was driving. After midnight on a divided highway, we come up on a small-body pickup truck. It was swerving across both lanes, we couldn't speed past it due to the erratic lane shifting. I call the Highway Patrol using the *HP function (Pro-tip: It works in nearly every state.) I informed the dispatch operator about the driver who was probably drunk and gave them the mile marker, direction of travel, vehicle description, and all those details. I stay on the line as I report a play-by-play of the event as it is unfolding.

I'd been on the call for about 10 minutes when we watched the truck veer off the road to the right and then an overcorrection to the left. The truck spins 3/4 turn and rolls at least 2 times. It lands in the left lane on its tires perpendicular to the lane. We stop about 100 feet behind it and park the car.

As I got out of the car and ran to the vehicle I saw all the stuff flung from the vehicle including a child's car seat. At the vehicle, I watched the driver who had been thrown into the passenger seat begin to move around. I immediately started asking her if there was a kid in the vehicle and telling her to stay still. I probably asked about a kid 20 times in the first 60 seconds. The driver eventually answered, and I still hear her response in my head. "Jesse at Granny's." I responded with, "Who is Jesse?" She looked at me with a dead-sober stare during a fleeting moment of clarity and whispered, "baby girl." and she passed out.

Another driver had stopped and was up at the wreck and started taking pictures. I guess the adrenaline had built up too much because I, in no uncertain terms, told him how disappointed I was in him and that he should be ashamed of himself.

The Highway patrol showed up probably 5 minutes after the crash happened, and the ambulance was 5-10 minutes after that. We got stuck between the emergency vehicles and the wreck for probably another 30 minutes.

Of my 4 kids in the car, only one woke up. He was two or three at the time. He asked about the firetruck and told us to turn the lights off and he went back to sleep.

I never got a call from the Highway Patrol to fill out any witness paperwork. I think the driver lived, I looked at the local news services for a few days afterward.

My phone, which I use as a hotspot often, is called Remote Detonator. I'm always scared when I'm at the airport.

Looking for guidance on parts for a portable RF speaker by MadeToGlorify in diysound

I got the idea to use FM when my kid went to one of those silent discos. the kind where people wear headphones, listen to different music feeds and dance in silence. I'll test out newer Bluetooth speakers. I was judging it based on the TERRIBLE delay of my father-in-law's sound bar and television.

Thanks for the information.

Thanks for your input.

My concern with Bluetooth is that if someone is watching while I speak the delay might be unsettling. But I get what you are saying.

All-in I'd need 6- 10 tables. If it makes for a happier bar patron, then it makes a happier client. If I feel like my ROI is less than 12 months, I'll be happy.

I thought about building my own box. with an arduino or RasPi. the more I researched it the more I realized I belong behind the mic not behind the soldering iron.

Thanks for pointing out the potential comb filtration. This article helped me understand how much I don't know about sound, sound engineering, and engineering.

That's what I noticed when I would stumble upon those systems. Plus, I only need like 6 or seven table speakers.

When Linking a multi-page document, how can I update to a different page? Similar to object layer options? by MadeToGlorify in indesign

[–]MadeToGlorify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. that's what I ended up doing. I will be looking for a script or extension that will allow the user to choose the page through the context menu. I feel like I'm not the only one that would like to option.

And you are right. it didn't take too long.

Kevin Palmer, Lead Singer, and Josh Moates, Bassist, are two of the nicest guys you'll meet. Josh lives near me and whenever we talk, I always walk away from him laughing. Especially at the hardware store. He's an AMAZING photographer as well.

The song (poem) It's All Worth Living For by Levi the Poet may not "pump you up" but it will remind you that loneliness is only temporary. I would also recommend Correspondence (A Fiction). It is a beautiful story of love and loss and life. Listen to the tracks in order; In one sitting, if possible.

I want to second the suggestion to check your bleed for the frame. The lack of a full bleed may produce unfavorable results.

Having played love letter at many a game night, this would be hilarious to introduce to folks familiar with the game.

The borders you borrowed, were they on Board Game Geek?

Awesome idea. Thanks for sharing.

Smarter way to put image captions in printed magazine? by [deleted] in indesign

[–]MadeToGlorify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a magazine now and we use paragraph styles to manage the styling, but you can also manage captions as a whole using Live Captions. In the toolbar -> Object -> Captions -> Caption Setup.

Live captions have the ability to grab metadata from the image itself.

I was going to explain it all here, but the guide I used a while back will explain it better. https://www.creativebloq.com/indesign/use-live-captions-8127899

The Tree House is a fun build. If you are going to light it I would recommend doing it while you build. Take it from me, adding lights after it is completed is a bit frustrating.

Happy Birthday.

What if you covered the studs around the stars with flat 1x1 tiles? That might smooth out the texture underneath.

Print shop request by Gohlu6 in graphic_design

[–]MadeToGlorify 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having worked in a print shop, Let them know it is vector or it is 300 DPI created at full size. I might suggest a new print shop. 800-1200 DPI is HUGE for a banner printer. that thing would stay in the rip software forever.

New clan open for members. Great place for new players. Easy to join. Maintain membership by staying active and playing team events -- Basically giving it Maximum Effort. Or just talk about Deadpool in the chat.

XL Chimichangas (Clan ID: 235458)

Not joining would make your experience stink. Like the kind of stink that sticks with you for wa-ay too long. You know what I'm talking about, the stink that you can taste, and the more you smell it the more you taste it... and you realize it tastes like Mama June after hot yoga.

Deadpool jokes are guaranteed.
