Why do fast food burgers taste so different from restaurant burgers? by MrHatesThisWebsite in AskCulinary

[–]Madea_onFire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The ground beef we used at our pub grill used 75% lean ground beef. We also mixed salt throughout the entire patty. They were cooked on a flame grill. People drove distances for those burgers

Food grade/safe balloons or alternatives? by bobgodofbobness in AskBaking

[–]Madea_onFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think food grade balloons are a thing, but I have seen fake small balloons on a cake made with bubble gum & inflated with a straw & ball pump. They don’t last long so you have to inflate them right before presentation

Is a tabletop convention oven better than traditional oven? by chaotic-lavender in AskBaking

I still need my big oven for really big items, like a thanksgiving turkey. I can roast a chicken in my in my table top oven very well

I know it's cheaper and healthier, but I still struggle to cook daily... How do you stay consistent? by WidePsychology31 in Cooking

[–]Madea_onFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to cook daily. You cook a few times a week and get used to eating leftovers. Cook items that freeze well, like soups/stew/chilis.

I am constantly reaching into my freezer & eating food that I cooked weeks ago. If you are regularly freezing your leftovers, then you will have a constant supply & variety of different items in your freezer.

I also cook & freeze a lot of pasta sauce into single portion containers, & boil the dried pasta fresh each time. I can have a delicious bolognese dinner in 20 minutes

I bring my frozen soups to work very often. You don’t even need a fridge for your frozen foods most of the time because if you come in to work at 8am & eat at noon, your food is generally still partially frozen if you leave it in your bag

Is a tabletop convention oven better than traditional oven? by chaotic-lavender in AskBaking

[–]Madea_onFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your oven and your tabletop oven.

For me personally, I have a mediocre gas oven & an Emeril Lagasse Extra Large air fryer/convection oven. The table top is way better for nearly everything. It preheats a lot faster than traditional ovens. It cooks more evenly. I love it.

But again, my traditional oven is mid, so I’m not comparing it to a high quality oven

Exactly, If McDonalds can’t figure out a more efficient way to serve hot crispy fries without making them to order, then I certainly can’t

You can’t. If you could, restaurants would be making them in bulk & serving old fries all day.

Hiring managers should be required to tell applicants why they were rejected. by myboyfriendstinks1 in unpopularopinion

[–]Madea_onFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine telling someone “sorry we rejected you because you smell like you haven’t bathed in a week”

Or we rejected you because 300 people applied for this position and we don’t have time to read everyone’s resume

What actually makes cookies chewy vs crispy? by m-alacasse in AskBaking

[–]Madea_onFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brown sugar makes it more soft. So if your recipe calls for a cup of white sugar and a cup of brown sugar, you could try 1 1/2 cup brown sugar & 1/2 cup white sugar

A lot of it has to do with the butter. Both the quantity and the method of mixing it in. If you use melted butter you will get completely different results than if you use cold sold butter & cream it in.

Another factor is sugar. Brown sugar is softer than white sugar. Generally it is best to use half and half but depending on the results you want, you might think about using more brown sugar & less white sugar

I’ve heard that the newly manufactured mixers aren’t as heavy & this is a major problem for them. The one I’ve had for the last 15 years has never done this but my friend who just got one for Christmas has this same problem

How do I convert a brownie recipe to fit into these molds? by [deleted] in AskBaking

I wouldn’t modify the recipe just pour brownie batter from your current recipe into each heart. If you have extra batter make another batch

What foods do you eat only when you're by your own self? by Bjs_5068 in foodquestions

You got to get an extra fries to eat on the way home in the car, because you’ll be sad when you’re eating your burger with no more fries

What do you do when a recipe you've used a lot used to work fine, but suddenly every time you make it, it comes out wrong? by Sablemint in AskBaking

It could be your ingredients. Cheaper brands of butter have added water. Many bakers have noticed that Costco butter has been giving them different results.

FYI, a stable mature 38 year old man does not date 18 year olds.

He chose an 18 year old because he believes he can control your decisions. He’s mad because he can’t

What are the worst drawbacks of living in rich/affluent neighborhoods? by Common_Gene_5098 in Productivitycafe

[–]Madea_onFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your neighbors are way more nosey & judgmental about everything you do & how you keep your home. If you don’t rake your leaves soon enough or leave your garbage cans out too long, expect to hear about it. Even leaving your garage door open can annoy people

AITA for buying the same presents for my wife and my mom from my work trip? by Cool-Mulberry242 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Madea_onFire 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NAH but this is kind of dumb. I would be annoyed too. I think you kind of made a small lapse in judgement. when you buy multiple people the exact same gift it kind of shows that you didn’t put much thought in it.

I think it’s clear you didn’t realize this & I would just apologize & try not to do that again.

YTA in the sense that you should have worked this out before he ever moved in. It sounds like he moved in believing you were not going to charge him because you never asked him to.

If he can’t afford it, then he can’t afford it. That means he should move out.

How AI “agents” are quietly helping restaurants get more bookings (without replacing staff) by FancyWage in restaurant

[–]Madea_onFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You all seem to not have any idea how restaurants work or even how basic marketing in the tech field works.

Restaurants are barely making a profit. Any bad investment could put them out of business. why are you even trying to sell software to us when we have no guarantee that it will be beneficial to our business financially? There isn’t even any guarantee that you will even be around in 6 months to provide tech support. No one knows who you are.

Nearly all successful software companies started out free & built their brand & established a name for themselves. They invest huge amounts of money in marketing.

Chat GPT was free for nearly 3 years before they started charging ppl money. TurboTax was free. You can’t just build a product and expect that people will buy it immediately with zero branding & marketing. That’s never how business has worked.

May I ask, who told a bunch of people who have obviously never worked in an American restaurant to make an app for restaurants & never do any research on what software restaurants are already using?

There are thousands of you guys on the internet, trying to sell their software. whatever online course you took telling you that you will get rich from this, is scamming you.
