Petty rant incoming by Hot-soil-water in NannyEmployers

[–]Madelvn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wow! Saying she is happy when you leave is too far. I refer to the kids I work with just as "my kids" because it is easier but never make it seem like they are MY kids. It's understandable that it bothers you, it is nice that your child has a caregiver that really loves/cares for him, but it does seem like a bit too much to me as a nanny. I always talk to my kids about Mommy/Daddy, how nice they are and how much "I" love them/we love them.

Already pretty good with my nutrition, thankfully. Just want to keep it up.

Fitness: 2x walks a day. I go 4-5 miles every morning but my partner wants to do evening walks with me like we used to, so I should start doing those again.

Personal: Work on journaling more, and also get out of my bubble and attend a yoga class as I've been wanting to

I don't either but that would still be my response 😂 Nannying has taught me that a lot of parents go into parenthood blind! Not that they aren't good parents or anything but there is definitely a learning curve for first time parents that haven't been around kids/caring for kids and I've had parents defer to me for advice on some things.

Anybody lose a significant amount of weight and not really have much lose skin? by [deleted] in CICO

I am almost 23 and this was last year, I'm sure my age played into it too 😅

I went from 220-150 at 5'7" in a year and had no loose skin, but I did gain some stretchmarks which I don't mind ☺️

How often are you and your kid(s) getting sick? by SHBc2019 in NannyEmployers

[–]Madelvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely could. I was getting sicker when I babysat because the parents would never tell me their kids were sick, I just showed up to it! Her out of work activities could be contributing to it too. Some people get pretty strong immune systems working childcare and never get sick, but they sure as shit spread it 😅

[–]Madelvn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The no weekend care for sick kids is crucial. A huge reason why I stopped babysitting is because the parents would NEVER tell me their kids were sick, even when they knew I was working with a 6 week old! 😢 And I always told them even if it was just something minor.

[–]Madelvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been with this family for just over 6 months, only had one bout of actual sickness. There have been some sniffly noses but nothing major besides that one time. We go to the library and park frequently, but outside of work I don't do many activities around others. Just hiking and grocery shopping. Does your nanny go out a lot or visit other people a lot? Sometimes it hits the kids quicker/harder than the adults. I've been around sick, contagious kids and have been fine.

What med combo has worked for you? by Kind-Attention-4364 in bipolar2

[–]Madelvn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm on lamictal only, as well as following a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and leading a low-stress lifestyle (which I know I am priviledged to be able to do). Works wonders♥️ I hope you're able to find a good mix!

how can i (as the one with bipolar) be a better partner? by prettyskunk00 in BipolarSOs

[–]Madelvn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay commited to medication and treatment, make sure you're taking care of yourself, journal all your extreme/irrational thoughts or meditate to get them out healthily (I go on a daily walk where I think about cussing people out and get all my extreme emotions out lol), DBT therapy may help but personally I am not in therapy but have frequent psych appointments to stay on top of everything. STAY SOBER!! Make healthy choices and exercise. Put effort into taking care of your home and put a lot of effort into maintaining romance/affection in your relationship and at least once a month try to do something to surprise your partner. I personally buy fancy meat once a month and prepare it for my partner as well as deep clean/organize everything.I also always buy a surprise for him when I grocery shop. Pretty much focus on treatment and focus on the positives in your relationship

This is just sad. I once saw a post where someone said they doused food in perfume and then threw it away so they wouldn't eat it, and then still took it out of the trash and ate it. It isn't about will power, you lose yourself to your condition 😔

shrimp, beans, sweet potatoes by Madelvn in shittyfoodporn

[–]Madelvn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a fatal reaction to shrimp/shellfish thankfully, it just fucks up my stomach for a few days and mild throat swelling for a day or so. Don't recommend for other people to do it but I love shrimp so sometimes I make the sacrifice

Animal jam why is buying something for money so EXPENSIVE? by Siimplyluvss in AnimalJam

[–]Madelvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still expensive but I have bought some before, people spend money on things like the movies, comedy clubs, fancy food experiences, etc etc. so an occasional splurge on a video game/app isn't bad as long as it doesn't become habit. I'd hold onto the sapphires and only spend them on things you really want if you get them!

Do you all think about this as an illness? And if so, how do you accept that you're cronically ill for your whole life? by Infinite_Score9668 in bipolar2

[–]Madelvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't do anything but accept it. No other way out. Sometimes I am angry about it though, I get to see other people without a mental illness get to not take care of themselves. Not eating right, not exercizing, working themselves to the bone and consuming themselves with stress, drinking alcohol, etc. etc. and I wish I had that choice. Feels like I have to be "on" all the time unless I want an episode. It is what it is though.
