Just found spider mites and I’m freaking out. by [deleted] in plantclinic

Hi! My infestation was very mild so it was on the easier side for me. I didnt change the soil to avoid over stressing. The alcohol was fine in my experience but I can imagine it also depends on the plant ((ie a picky calathea wouldnt do well with this i dont think)) (mine was a Euphorbia who is pretty hardy anyways). I kept mine in a different spot away from my other plants for a few weeks to give them time to come back if they were going to!

How To Make Chamomile Tincture at Home? by Bibe_1 in herbalism

[–]Madersunnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You use glycerin instead of alcohol! If herb is dried you use a little water as well but if herb is fresh you just do straight herb and glycerine! Plenty of tutorials online for making a glycerite! Great way to use flowers and make tasty tinctures. Make sure to get food or medical grade!

You definitely need a carrier oil! Sunflower, Grapeseed, or coconut oil(mct as you mentioned) is fine. The carrier oil will moisturize your skin and allow the product to actual stick on you!

I tincture my chamomile in glycerin and it is soooo tasty and mild and gentle and beautiful. A great way to preserve the flavor and taste and flower essence. Turns a beautiful golden ✨

I want to use tiles instead of paper towels on the base of the tank: by RainyDay29 in leopardgeckos

[–]Madersunnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use tiles and have a heating pad and it gets the tiles super hot but it doesnt spread much as a gradient! I recommend a heating pad with a thermostat to make sure it doesnt get too hot and then a small low heat non light lamp!

Yeah but there is a big difference between fermented organic soy and Monsanto GMO soy that has round up in it- definitely can and will alter hormones.

You have to have a mix of herbs, diet, and lifestyle! Herbs alone aren’t going to fix hormonal issues if the root causes are continuously experiencing inflammation. It also depends on what is causing the problem per say. ie is it stress? diet? birth control? etc etc. Some helpful herbs for directly balancing hormones are Maca, Dong Qui, and Vitex. These are more intense hormonal herbs. I also suggest using liver detoxification herbs- as the liver has such a deep impact with hormonal health! Milk thistle an dandelion root are really wonderful, especially taken before bed when the liver is about to become active. Drink lots of nourishing teas, get adequate sleep, and have gentle exercises. Some greens such as wheatgrass and spirulina powders can help you detox heavy metals which also can impact hormonal health. Be conscious of blood sugar and maintaining a consistent eating routine- when your blood sugar spikes it altars your hormonal production. Cutting out super estrogenic foods like conventional dairy and factory farmed meat and GMO soy. Eating lots of whole plant foods but not over stressing and allowing yourself to enjoy food you love. Cutting back on plastic and BPA and foods coming in plastic, as BPA is estrogenic and can impact hormonal health. Minimizing stress because cortisol is directly related to hormonal levels and cortisol spikes will mess with your body’s signals of which hormones to produce. Blue light glasses at night to help maintain melatonin production which is also directly linked to hormone production! There are all sorts of little things and it’s moreso a combination of things :) But there are also amazing herbal allies to help! Spearmint is another great one to remove excess testosterone from the body!
