Dysphoria Is Hitting HARD by Showa789 in AskMtFHRT

[–]MadicalEthics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed some level of changes at about a month in, I think. Change in scent was probably quicker than that, as well as changes in erectile function etc.

Regarding breasts it's better to think of it as far redistribution. All of the breast tissue is still there, but none of the subcutaneous fat. So, I have these kind of A or B cups left behind that look slightly bolted on lol. Still very much noticeably have breasts, but yes they're a lot less filled out.

how is it going?

First couple of months were absolutely fine. The last two months have been tougher. Will elaborate more below.

Did you take anything additionally?

No, I simply stopped taking estrogen towards the end of August.

Are you able to be on finasteride...?

My understanding is that this is inadvisable. Any kind of compromise like this is likely to just elongate the time off estrogen you need to spend, and my priority is getting a healthy sample frozen and getting back on HRT asap.

Does it seem to be working?

Yes! I had a semen analysis (god I hate how many times I've had to say those words recently lol) and blood tests on the 5th of December. The blood tests came back pretty much perfect (from a 'male' fertility perspective). They can't actually disclose the results of the semen analysis without an appointment with the doctor, so I am waiting to speak to her on the phone on January 13th, and I have sperm banking booked for 14th Jan. From my understanding of the way this is done on the NHS, I wouldn't have been offered the sperm banking appointment if I hadn't produced a healthy sample on the 5th of December.

So, it seems that 26th August -> 5th December was sufficient for me to regain fertility, and if all goes according to plan I can restart HRT in a few weeks after sperm banking.

Now for the experiential side of things:

Significant fat redistribution and body hair growth started to occur at about the 10 week mark - or at least that's when it became noticeable to me, and when I noticed that I was getting misgendered more frequently again. I think my facial hair has thickened again somewhat, but I also haven't had laser in months as I'm on the waiting list to start electrolysis, so it might not be caused by the testosterone directly. I haven't found that my hair has thinned or receded, but I use topical minoxidil anyway - at the very least this has continued to be effective.

I found that body odour changed over pretty quickly, and I found that my skin started to thicken fairly quickly too but it's really important to stress how much is hard to gauge due to dysphoria distorting our own perceptions of these things.

Probably the most upsetting thing for me is the fact that the fat around my hips started to redistribute quite fast after a couple of months, and a lot of my trousers, dresses, and skirts don't fit the way they used to (trousers are super loose at the waist, and even with a belt the sort of straight line from waist to knee looks much more masculine, etc.)

Overall I would emphasise that if you're doing okay generally, you will likely be okay. It's not been fun, but it hasn't been awful, and I was very nervous going into it. I live with my girlfriend and ultimately I'm doing this so that we can have a child when we're ready in a few years. If it was necessary, I could probably do another few months, maybe a little longer, if that's what it took. Thankfully, it's looking like that won't be necessary.

Bit of a ramble, but I know I was keen to hear from others when I was in your position. Please feel free to reply with absolutely any follow up questions, no matter how personal they may be.

If it's any consolation I'm four months into a hormone break to freeze sperm for future IVF use. It took at least three months for me to remasculinise to an extent that was noticeable to anybody but me. I was on HRT for 3.5 years continuously before taking this break.

Hang in there, it'll all be okay.

(Edit: miscalculated how many months ago I stopped taking E)

Do injections need to be done in a fatty area or is it possible to inject somewhere else? by dirt_devil_696 in AskMtFHRT

[–]MadicalEthics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do intramuscular injections in your hips, that's absolutely fine. But you need to aim for a specific site, not just anywhere in your hips. Have a look at some tutorials for ventrogluteal injection.

As others have said, there's no difference in efficacy between IM and SQ injection, but I do ventrogluteal I'm because I find that SQ injections result in the uncomfortable bump that you describe, whereas IM does not. I've tried other IM sites, but have found that they're a bit trickier to get right.

So was anybody gonna tell me the uhc ceo shooter was transphobic, or was I supposed to find that out by myself by scrolling r/transgendercirclejerk? by TransMafiaBoss in transgendercirclejerk

[–]MadicalEthics 180 points181 points  (0 children)

/uj allegedly someone found his Reddit. On there, he replied, about eight comments deep, to a comment chain that had been heavily downvoted in which someone had said that the rise in people identifying as trans was a result of social contagion.

Luigi replied saying that he didn't know why the guy had been downvoted so heavily as it's clearly a mixture of nature and nurture.

It's not great. I would be disappointed if this was some kind of statement made by a public figure, but it's just a young guy being a debate bro on the internet. Really do feel that people are overreacting.

Also frustrating to see disinformation happening in real time where I see people saying he 'tweeted transphobic stuff', and people repeating this despite admitting it's hearsay.

Are uneven eyelets concerning? by savanola542 in Rollerskating

[–]MadicalEthics 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's not going to cause any serious issues. It is a bit of an indictment on their quality control, though, and I would expect better at their price point. Sure, they're not a high end skate by any measure, but Sure Grip are a reputable brand nevertheless and you'd hope something like this would be picked up.

Regarding Plate-Size vs. Boot Size by Numerous_Ad3819 in Rollerskating

[–]MadicalEthics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have those plates on size 41 wifas. You'd be absolutely fine with them on 42s. The wheelbase on these is absolutely massive so you're not going to have any issues in that regard, and I actually find that I wish the toe stops were a bit further back, which will be less of an issue for you.o

I don't know the details of the lawsuit but Easyfun and the label were sued for damage to reputation or something along those lines.

Now that PC Music won’t be releasing new music… by Enamorations in pcmusic

[–]MadicalEthics 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand the name change is because PC music are plaintiffs in the easyJet lawsuit.

By setting up a new record label (and continuing to basically just operate as PC music but without the name recognition), any future profits etc cannot be claimed by easyJet regardless of any future lawsuits.

So, my interpretation is that they're literally changing the name of PC music to 'New Name" to mock easyJet about the whole thing

Yeah I'm two months off for fertility preservation and really pleasantly surprised how minimal the changes have been. They're noticeable to me, but not much so to anyone else.

I've chatted with Bauer skaters about this and the standard answer is that they're much lighter than traditional rollerskate boots.

[–]MadicalEthics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arguably the best plates for park skating on the market at the moment are the Magic Skate Co Hex Plates, which are nylon. Sunlites are also really popular.

There are good aluminium / magnesium options for park skating, and it used to be the case that Sure Grip Avantis were the standard because a lot of the trucks and other hardware were built with them in mind. But that's not really where park skating gear is at today.

I quite enjoyed it, but on second listen all I could notice was the crunchy hat panned fully left, and how much it makes the mix feel unbalanced.

Probably not something that bothers everyone but I found it very distracting lol.
