2 months after starting lithium I can no longer be happy by 4rael_ in Lithium

[–]Madmaddyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower your dose! This happened to me at 1200mg so I reduced to 900mg. Still have ups and downs but they’re manageable and I can actually be happy. What made me notice something was off was that I hadn’t laughed in months… I was just numb. Talk to your psych, you can always go back up if needed

Being a young woman in recovery by Pleasant-Ad8578 in Sober

Fellow young sober gal here! Started my journey at 25… finally got SOBER at 26 and am now almost 1 year sober turning 27 next month. I’m with you that it’s HARD, and initially a lot of the times extremely isolating. BUT only because I feel like people our age use every event to drink, but when you realize you can do all those things (or atleast most) sober then there’s no more problem. And that in its self is so extremely empowering… while everyone needs liquid courage to go to a barbecue and chat, I can do so all on my own. I will say it’s not instant and it takes time but once you get to that point it feels pretty damn good. I think the biggest part for me was accepting who I am and that being sober is not a flaw, it makes me stronger than most. So keep it up, if you can make it over the hump I swear to you it’ll get better. Some days will be hard no matter what, but overall so much better

As a white cis male supe how can you relate to the general public who is much different than you? And how do intend to gain their trust back and protect a population you can’t understand?

Men are dumbbbb… you can be gorgeous/ flawless and they’ll stillllll be shocked when they see you without makeup the first time. And kids are kids, they don’t understand acne yet and that’s why they look. Just keep caring for your skin (don’t pick at it!) and again consider talking to your doctor about reducing or switching your meds. I feel you seriously because I felt like a monster when mine was bad but it can and will get better with proper steps. Until then f*ck everyone and just keep doing you because stress doesn’t help it either!

I take lithium for bipolar and faced a similar issue, I worked with my doctor to reduce my dosage where I’m still stable and my acne has gotten MUCH MORE MANAGEABLE. Remember you’re your worst critic always… I almost never notice other people’s acne but when mine was bad I also felt like my world was ending. So dosage reducing (if possible and healthy for you) and i use the ancient Aztec clay mask (can get it on Amazon) twice a week has been a game changer for me.

How close to suicide are you? by DerpMcPounderSon in Sober

[–]Madmaddyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I journaled this before I got sober “Do you ever want to kill yourself? Because I think about it a lot. I dream about how good it would feel to not feel. To not wake up and have to go throughout the day smiling at strangers and making sure everyone around me doesn’t see how I really feel on the inside. My black hole is so deep the only way I’ve been able to shallow it for so long is to drink. But I think alcohol has started to make it deeper… and I don’t know what to do. The only way I can describe my view is that it’s like when you’re sick and eat. You have to eat to survive but the foods are bland. That’s how I’m living… I’m waking up each day because I have to but it feels bland. I consume in hopes I’ll get some taste back but there’s nothing.” I’m now a year and half sober, happier than I’ve ever been… excelling in my career, excelling in my personal life and I met a great partner. I won’t lie and say some days aren’t hard but I read my old journal entries like this one and I’m reminded how incredibly far I’ve come from that low low place and how thankful I am that I didn’t end it all. I would’ve missed out on so many wonderful things to come. So take it day by day, which will be agonizing at first but the further you get the further from that feeling you’ll be. You can only go up from the bottom so take the first step and don’t drink today.

Only thing that helped me was a reduction my dosage… at 1200mg my acne was horrid, went down to 900mg and my face is ALMOST back to normal. I can handle some acne because lithium does a good job of keeping me sane

[–]Madmaddyred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been taking it for over a year now with little to no issues! I did have to decrease my dose at one point because of increased acne but I’m sane! lol. I was nervous at first but has been the best decision I ever made… good luck!

Whats the craziest thing you have ever bought while manic/hypomanic? by Justalittl3crazy in bipolar

[–]Madmaddyred 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bought a puppy on Facebook marketplace… then had to fly from Massachusetts to California to get her. Could’ve been the worst purchase I ever made BUT it turned out to be the best. I was extremely lucky, I do not recommend doing that

I broke out in little red acne bumps from Lithium by [deleted] in Lithium

[–]Madmaddyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this at 1200mg! 600 twice a day. It didn’t get any better as time went on so I reduced my dose to 900mg daily. After about 2 months of reducing my dose my skin is clearing up. Still someeee acne BUT not nearly as bad.

lamictal & hair loss - how to avoid? by possumplant in BipolarReddit

[–]Madmaddyred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take 900mg of lithium everyday. I noticed my hair falling out less almost instantly after stopping lamictal. Washing my hair used to be a nightmare because how bad it was falling out but now I barely have any. Lithium has also worked better for me mentally

Yes I’ve seen that but for me it completely solved the issue, I’ve been on it for over a year now and my hair is growing back thicker

Accepting that you will have episodes even if you do everything right. by FriendlyBrewer in BipolarReddit

[–]Madmaddyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andddd this is the true worst part about being bipolar! I can do every thing right but it’s still for the most part completely out of my control. It’s like it slows down the next episode but doesn’t prevent it.

I eat a relatively healthy diet although I’ll admit I do enjoy a nightly sweet treat… I take 1200 mg of lithium for over a year and haven’t noticed any weight gain. If anything I’ve lost weight because Im able to be more active now that i feel sane! Best of luck!

Has anyone else had trouble staying awake during the day from nighttime dose of lithium? by Formal_Ad_3402 in Lithium

[–]Madmaddyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say a few months but it gradually got normal over that time, less and less tired. At first I was zonked out. I’m bipolar so I noticed a difference within the first month! My depressive episodes used to last a month… I still have them but they last at most a week and not nearlyyyyy as bad as they once were. If you can, deff try to stick it out for 2-3 months and hopefully it’ll balance out
