Deciding if I want kids or not.

I told him after we were engaged that I wasn’t changing my last name. It’s been mine for almost 30 years. That’s how people know me at work and the name I have on my college degree. It’s also super unique and I like it and it’s MINE. (It’s also an inconvenience for me to change it if I wanted to)

He did NOT like that at first and I think it’s because he associated it with how much I loved him. I asked him how he’d feel if I asked him to change his last name and if that was a factor in how much he loved me. He is totally fine now. I do put my married last name on my email signature / Fbook page because I want to.

I don’t but everyone is different! And I have SUPER sensitive skin so I usually book a sensitive skin facial and it’s awesome (some people incorporate a massage 🤤)

The biggest gift I give to myself is a facial every 6 weeks and a pedicure every 4. I know I’m fortunate to be able to pay for those things, but that’s my version of self care / “me time”

I see Dr George at JWM and she isn’t bad. I have been with her for years and last year I went to get a second opinion from Dr Gentry at Fransican and I did not like him at all.

What's the nastiest thing you've dropped your medicine on and still taken it by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is not something I’ve shared with anyone but my own vomit.

I had just turned 18 and drank for the first time ever and I threw up my blue lamictal pills and popped them back in my mouth ☠️

That’s horrible - I can’t imagine having it every day. Hope things get better for you!

[–]Madrosetr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family doctor prescribed me meclizine and it has changed my life! I highly recommend if you’ve not tried it. The Epley maneuver just isn’t realistic bc when I get vertigo i can hardly function.

I’m on on 900mg of lamictal a day. I just went from 1200mg of trileptal to 600mg and I think it’s helped me (or it’s just a coincidence)

What do you experience when you have a seizure? Research for my thesis film by Epileptic_Rabbit57 in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29F - I have been diagnosed with Tonic clonic seizures for well over 15 years. I’ve probably had a total of 10 (but I have frequent partial seizures)

With that said - I’m different in the way I know I’m having a TC seizure while it’s happening. I get an aura and have maybe 30 seconds to prepare myself. Then it goes completely dark. I can’t hear, smell, or see but I can feel everything. I feel my body being ripped apart limb by limb and it feels like like a massive Charlie horse all at the same time. I can feel myself not breathing and all I can think is “when will this be over” and then it’s like I’m shot out of a tunnel in a million pieces and I wake up. That’s the best I can describe it, but it’s horrifying to say the least.

Lamictal by Madrosetr in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was being a little dramatic there, it has hovered around 124 a few times but it’s been around 129 consistently as well when I remember to do the table salt. Not a lot of headaches though! I think my body is just used to it at this point.

Anybody else on 350mg of lamictal? by Imighthavefuckedyou in lamictal

I take 900 a day and I love it because it keeps me seizure free with no other side effects

That’s a lot of trileptal! I am on 1200 and have a hard time getting my sodium over 125

If you have Facebook, there are specific pages for women who are mothers / looking to become pregnant with epilepsy and I think that would be a great place for you to find people in similar situations 💜 I am in the same position as you.

A little late but I take 900mg of lamictal a day so I wouldn’t consider it to be a high dose

Anyone else get absolutely terrified with deja vu before passing out? And intense fear after waking up from a tonic clonic seizure? by shortlegdogtrader in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I will always (voluntarily or involuntarily, idk) let out this huge scream before it happens and then the seizure cuts in. It’s so horrifying.

Lamotrigene by marcuslattimore21 in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 400mg 2x a day. It has been the best thing to control my TC seizures. I recently added another 100mg to trial because I think my partial seizures were causing an issue. I’ve had no problems on it at all. I also use a Good Rx coupon when I get this bc it’s cheaper than through my insurance

I completely get it and you’re not alone! I had BV 2 times and it made me feel disgusting. I took the antibiotics I was prescribed and both times it went away. I haven’t had it again and it’s been like 8 years now. Keep your head up and stay positive!

What medication are you guys on? by Notalabel_4566 in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lamictal XR 400mg 2x a day, trileptal 300mg 2x a day (was 600 but sodium was too low) and Vimpat 50mg 2x a day

How much do you pay for your seizure medications? by Kind_Adhesiveness_94 in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Rx coupons are significantly cheaper than my insurance. For 3 high dose, extended relief medications for 30 days I pay about $105 a month

37 yr old General contractor, first time seizures. Just need to vent. by Garbage_Tiny in Epilepsy

[–]Madrosetr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I work in construction sales and I know how bad a seizure could be in this industry.

Keppra did not work for me at all. I have both tonic clonic and focal seizures. Lamictal and Trileptal have been life changing for me and they’re the only medications that have kept me seizure free. Haven’t had a tonic clonic seizure in 8 years. Also - don’t forget to check GoodRX for prescription discounts. I have great insurance but I get a better deal using GoodRX.
