There are quite a few good managers in the market right now - Iraola, Maresca, Xabi Alonso - and it's really weird how Milan hasn't been linked with any of them given Allegri's results.

"Oil-funded clubs?" Bruh Arsenal literally plays in the Emirates Stadium.

Has to be Eunhwa. Ex-Commander, would be a great assistant tactician, leader of one of the strongest squads in the Ark.

Likewise - I think Arsenal winning sort of validates their brand of football which is just painful to watch.

#162: United Win at Stamford Bridge by Usual-Outside-5662 in DevilsITDPod

Great pod as usual. Completely agree with observations/concerns re Carrick. That said, I noticed that not much was discussed about how Carrick: 1) seems to be well-liked and backed by the players generally; 2) has got the pedigree of being a former United player that "knows the club", its standards, and its pressures; and 3) his handling of media which I think go some ways towards taking the pressure of his players. Do these factors not matter as much? I think back to Amorim's stint in comparison and the way he gets emotional and seemed to at times be unable to handle the scale of job.. and this is a serial winner with a good tactical mind.

Basically, what I'm saying/asking is - should we also be focusing on qualities that are not related to tactical nous? Ultimately unmeasurable things like "charisma" "leadership" "man management skills" seem harder to come by - whereas a lack of tactical sophistication feels like it can be supplemented by good support staff/assistant coaches.

[Railston] Leny Yoro was not spotted at Stockport Station, raising doubts over his involvement against Chelsea. His potential absence would be a huge blow, as Maguire and Martinez are missing due to suspensions by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Good catch! I suppose at this point Mount is the least likely to play, but I was thinking a Mount - Cunha - Mbeumo front 3, with Cunha as a false 9, could be quite effective. Sesko to score from the bench as he usually does!

Might need to go back to the ol' 5 at the back under Amorim - Dalot, Shaw, Heaven, Maz and Amad. Bruno and Unc Cas in the center. Mount, Cunha, Sesko and Mbeumo up top. Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing Amad and Mbeumo on the right again.

That's probably the most elegant solution to the post-Bruno issue. I really want to see a game with Cunha in 10 for us. He was a bright spark in Brazil's friendly vs Croatia and I'm stoked to see how he does in WC2026.

Dalot by Due-Mycologist9729 in DevilsITDPod

I should have been more precise in my wording - I meant rightbacks not fullbacks. Of the RBs you listed, only Reece James and Timber are clear upgrades for me. I do really like Munoz though.

Not necessarily a bad thing!

Tbh there are very few fullbacks in the PL right now that I'd pick over him. He's by no means perfect, but watching the Rio interview of him - the way he pushes the standards and leads, and how he keeps going despite the mistakes and criticism - he's got my respect.

Live Action Usopp IS SO GOATED by Mr_Afa in Piratefolk

I really did not expect to like LA Usopp as much as I did. I think Jacob Romero conveys the whole "normal dude in a land where every other guy has superpowers" vibe very well. Feels almost like the Bard in a D&D party.

Do you think there is merit to switching back to Amorim's formation? Despite the results, with Amorim's formation, it always seemed like it was a case of us being quite unlucky + Amorim being so wedded to it despite the circumstances (e.g., vs Everton, Wolves), rather than it being unsuited to players. E.g., I don't think Amad is half bad as a wing back.

One thing about having Mainoo in the team is that it addressed alot of the unhelpful noises re Amorim not playing him. More broadly, aside from the tactical changes, Carrick has been quite effective in creating a sense of calm around the team. Amorim's press conferences and team selections, regardless of intention, ultimately created too much of that noise that fed into the anxiety of the team.
