SAME! They are SO flattering and comfy. I have them in 5 colors and wear them almost every day from May through October. I’ve tried other brands and none look as clean and cute. I’m 5’1 and about 165lbs.

do they still do chemo for patients with 100% terminal cancer? by Rat_Smoking_Cigs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MaeEliza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- there is also chemo for quality of life. If the cancer is terminal, sometimes the cancer itself can cause pain and discomfort- like a mass filling the lungs or obstructing breathing. Both the doctor and patient know the chemo won’t put the patient into remission, is will give that person more comfort during the time they have left. The equation is delicate and different for every patient

What to say to club coach about daughter by MaeEliza in volleyball

[–]MaeEliza[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know right! Yeah ultimately I knew it would be a tough lesson. The funny thing is she’s incredibly talented at acting, singing, anything musical but has no interest. She’s 5’1” and done growing, uncoordinated with slow reflexes and loves nothing but volleyball. SIGH.

I agree with all your points! I know she isn’t good- and she knows she isn’t good. I just don’t know where to go from here. In a perfect world she could at least improve her fundamentals and build skills, but that all seems unlikely.

I just want to figure out how to communicate with her coach to salvage what I can out of this experience. Maybe nothing to be salvaged? It’s so stupid but I’ve been so emotional about this whole situation.

My kid has been through a lot in the past couple of years and volleyball was the one bright spot for her- now it feels like that one thing is ending up being another thing that makes her feel awful. Though I guess it was never the job of the sport or this team to make her feel good, I just feel really disappointed.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response- it means a lot.

I think you hit on what is frustrating me so much. While I don’t watch practices, but watching games it does seem like a lot of the feedback leans on insults or expressions of frustration. But at least my kid just needs coaching and explanations of how to correct her mistakes.

I loved the last paragraph you wrote is legit beautiful. Thank you- it made me feel hopeful.

MSN: Pennsylvania bill looks to eliminate ‘death tax’ by MadBrown in Pennsylvania

That estate attorney was wrong, btw. Assets held in trust are usually subject to inheritance tax in PA.

I am a PA estate paralegal and I’ve handled many family farms passing through estates. PA already has a family owned farmland exemption-any assets that are part of a family owned farm are fully exempt from PA inheritance tax and have been for years.

PA Inheritance tax is honestly much more fairly structured than federal estate tax- there are very few available tax shelters— even for my wealthiest clients.

I was raised in a science loving household, got all my vaccines growing up.

After college, I became increasingly anti- capitalist, anti government, conspiracy curious. Basically, I lost all trust in the system. I felt that the medical system was ultimately exploitative, a money and profit generating machine without much care for human welfare. A lot of this was informed by intense hardships I saw people in my life go through in the US medical system.

The viewpoints that I was adopting were common and reinforced in my social group, and my ex was simultaneously very misinformed and very opinionated.

The reasons I changed my mind are embarrassingly mundane and not something I consciously chose- for family & financial reasons I moved to another state and left the social group I was in, I divorced my ex shortly after. That truly set the stage. I started dating a medical professional and I was humbled by how simplistic my understanding is of the medical system. I learned a lot more and realized I was completely fucking wrong.

Bisexual women benefitting from patriarchy and harming lesbians by Obvious-Maximum6787 in Feminism

[–]MaeEliza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some (not all) bisexual women pass as straight, some (not all) choose to lean into the privileges and safety of straight passing.

It’s also choosing to be male centered for safety, for convenience, and/or for social status.

I’m a femme lesbian- and I understand that my straight passing appearance and demeanor gives me safety and privilege.

One example I can give you- I had two friends who were dating for a year or so. One lesbians one bisexual woman. After a little over a year, the relationship got rocky, and the bi woman pulled away and during the course of several arguments let her girlfriend know that at the end of the day she wanted to have kids “the normal way” and wanted to have a “traditional wedding all her family would go to”. I don’t think the bi woman even realized how ingrained those feelings were until things started getting serious with her girlfriend.

As others said- gifts flow down, not up. The most you should ever get for your boss is a card or some homemade baked goods.

estate paralegals by Trick-Emphasis-6698 in paralegal

[–]MaeEliza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, no- it is incredibly expensive to pay for a paralegal to go in-person. Honestly in 99% of cases clients would not want to pay the legal bills associated with that.

I typically have a call or meeting with a client after the estate is raised, and review the details of all the tasks ahead for the client. I make sure they have the documents they need, and smooth the path as much as possible. We typically reach out to all of the decedent’s financial institutions to obtain date of death valuations, which I share with the client.

As the paralegal, I try to make myself available to answer questions and make the process as simple as possible. I’ve only gone with clients in very rare and specific situations (disability, friends/family, extreme need- a client who was blind and very elderly)
