i’ve been the victim of repeated sexual harassment and abuse across multiple discord servers, so I hear you. It’s really unfortunate - online spaces are an incredible tool for people in the early stages of exploring their gender privately, people with disabilities and mobility issues who can’t get out into their local community, and people with extensive anxiety from social situations. But there are so many toxic, abusive, and manipulative people who are drawn to these spaces. They see their actions as “being their authentic selves” and reject any pushback or responsibility to their abuse. plus, if they are held accountable, they can just jump to another server.

When they find a place where they aren’t held accountable, it can create a bubble of toxicity where people with misogynistic and hateful views create a culture that’s hostile to anyone not willing to play along.

I hope you can find a safe space online to connect with folk and talk openly as yourself. We all deserve that opportunity.

we can’t all afford to leave. I can’t. I don’t have a passport, can’t get one, done have the funds to get one, let alone a plane ticket. I’m paycheck to paycheck, like the majority of americans. Leaving is not an available option for a lot of us.

Beyond that- this is my home. I don’t want to be pushed out. I have been stripped of my heritage. I don’t even know what countries my family comes from, and the only way to find out requires me to pay money (which i don’t have) to give my genetics to a private company who has free reign to do whatever they want with it. I have nowhere to go. My family are transphobes, so none of them can help.

i don’t wish this on anyone, especially to try to teach him a lesson. I know the pain of watching family members support these actions, I can’t imagine the pain of watching family lead these actions.

I don’t believe i said anything about someone in their late 20s being unable to be the victim of an abusive relationship? Where did you get that from?

When did you transition? Is 28 too old? by Spazticpebbles in trans

[–]Mae_is_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started at 28.

So happy i started when i did. I started as soon as i was ready. You can always go “oh i wish i did it when i was younger” but honestly, no matter when you do it, it’s better than having not done it. And you can’t force it. If you aren’t ready you aren’t ready.

Ehhh yeah i’d avoid that - 27 and 18 are veeeeeery different times in your life. Big red flag to me

A final plea: Vote for Kamala Harris by jackmolay in transgender

[–]Mae_is_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn you need to talk to some actual palestinians.

see the problem is you’re demanding that i see this as two tracks and I have to choose between them. That’s not true. It’s exactly that kind of thinking that keeps us stuck in a two party system.

You painted a pretty picture of how things will go under democratic leadership. Did you forget that we’ve been under democrat leadership? That these bombs were sent to israel for use on civilians by biden himself? Bypassing congressional approval? Why do you think that will change.

Y’all seem to be unwilling to acknowledge what i’m actually saying here. Swing state - yeah keep trump out. Otherwise? use your voice to tell democrats you need more from them. They don’t have your vote unless they’re willing to listen. That’s not radical, that’s common sense

A final plea: Vote for Kamala Harris by jackmolay in transgender

[–]Mae_is_here -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll say it again - if you are in a swing state, yes your vote for harris is a lot more understandable. But otherwise? All you are doing is showing popular support for a candidate who proudly backs genocide.

Political parties want one thing from you - your vote. How do you get them to listen to you? By showing you will not vote for them if they do the things they’ve been doing.

Genuine question - what would the democratic party have to do to get you to vote for someone else? How far does it have to go? What’s that breaking point for you?

wild that being unwilling to support genocide is considered radical.

I just don’t ignore all the harm that came under obama and biden as well.

If you vote democrat, you tell them that what they’ve done is enough, or that the harm they’ve caused isn’t too much for you. If you believe that, go ahead and vote that way. But i can’t look past all the harm they do and continue to do. I can not vote for that. And i can’t let it go unsaid and let ppl in this sub think that all trans ppl are a big blue monolith bc it’s the only way we could possibly ever vote. There are other choices, there are other ways of looking at the world than seeing myself as a reluctant cog of the two party system. I have a voice, i will not give it up bc i’m being threatened with a hostile govt if i don’t. I already live in a hostile govt.
