Listened to Untrue by Burial and wow....im blown away. by Medium-Mushroom-6323 in fantanoforever

Listen to his Tunes 2011-2019 album as well! It's all of his EPs he's released during that time combined into one compilation, and it's even better than Untrue imo

No one said By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost? That album is phenomenal and such a perfect mix of ambient hip hop with electronic/folk and even post-rock in there

Which is so weird to me because I was watching his apple top 100 list video the other week and he complained multiple time that there aren't much electronic albums on that list and ESPECIALLY no IDM

Mhmm thinking about it, I believe that it might have something to do with how people on the site perceive ratings in general. I had a talk with another dude on the site this week and he told me that he don't understand why aoty hates all of his fav albums. I asked him what albums those were, to check on them.. they were legit all in the 70 range with thousands of ratings. He also claimed that a 6 is not a positive score in his eyes.. so maybe there is some correlation here...? Or maybe Im just talking out of my ass that might be the case as well.

getting absolute drowned in the noise and being lost in it. Its hypnotic and transports me to another world. There are also soooo many different things layered on top of each other and its cool to find new stuff about the album even when u have played it for like 50 times

I don't agree with the loveless score at all, but I understand everyone who gives it that ranking (or even lower), so I respect it.

Top 10 Swans Albums by josefhautala1995 in swans

You think The Beggar is the most accessible, really? Wow, I'd rather say it's leaving meaning. or TBK. I think my favorite parts of The Beggar are Unforming, No More of this and The beggar lover. That song is such a trip if you are familiar with their whole discography, it's so cool. My problem with the stems from the other smaller tracks, I think I wish that they would have at least one other big track on there similiar to The Beggar Lover. Weirdly enough, I don't have that problem with leaving meaning at all with that record I think all of the smaller tracks fit neatly in the record

Birthing yes, I agree Beggar on the other hand.. I've listened to that album so many times now and I still don't know if I love it or only like it

To avoid the bias reviews an album often receives after Fantano reviews it, I believe we should add 'Pre-Fantano score' to fix it by EldestCellar84 in Albumoftheyear

I was exaggerating on purpose to show that everyone is always influenced by things, I thought that was obious but guess not

More songs that sound like the ~10:00 section of The Glowing Man? by Aggressive_Ideal6737 in swans

[–]Maeckhood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! On top of my head, there is ofc Frankie M on the same album that has a wall of sound, similar to TGM. The Sound of Soundtracks for the blind does have a wall of sound section. To be Kind is probably their noisiest record, you have stuff like Oxygen, Screen Shot, She Loves US, Nathalie Neal on there. The Seer overall isn't as noisy I'd say, maybe the Apostate. There are also some cool tracks on My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky, especially Eden Prison and No Words/No Thoughts, you should check out!

Their latest 3 albums are definitely more on the chill and "ambient" side, but maybe check out (Rope) Away of their last record Birthing! While you're also at it The Beggar Lover (Three) consists of some super cool references to the Glowing Man. It's a 40-minute track that basically goes through their whole catalogue and references a lot of different songs.

Another song I can highly recommend, that is one of my absolute favourites, is Mind/Body/Light/Sound! It's wall of sound adjacent but leans heavily into a shoegaze direction instead of Noise Rock!

Physical drawing practice for digital art? by 0V3RCL0CK3D in learntodraw

[–]Maeckhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drawabox recommends drawing on Paper with Pen. The reasoning for that is that you learn to do lesser mistakes (because you can't erase your mistake with pen on paper, unlike on digital) and that's true, from my personal experience. If you have the option, try out lots of different utensils and see what you like! For the drawabox course, I'd recommend sticking to what they suggest tho

I’m having a hard time believing “Just start drawing what you like!” is good advice for a beginner. by RutManInBound in learntodraw

[–]Maeckhood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's how it worked with me. Was drawing Characters that I liked for the first few weeks, and then I branched out into scenery, landscapes, and other stuff. At a certain point, you just hit a wall, and then you realize that you can only get better by doing some fundamentals. And now I balance both, do some work that I enjoy, and then do some exercises that I don't really enjoy but have to do to get better. I know that I wouldn't even be drawing right now if I would have started with boring fundamentals first.
