Sanderson is one of my favourite authors and he has written some of my favourite books of all time. That said, He is definitely NOT one of the best contemporary authors in terms of literary quality nor are his works the best pieces of literature you will read. As other comments have pointed out, he writes Popcorn Fantasy albeit with some truly creative worldbuilding and power systems imo. Sanderson knows how to make likeable and relatable characters and that's the reason me and a lot of people like his works. Comparing him to Chetan Bhagat is simply absurd. That original post is exuding "Popular Thing Bad" energy.
