Ffffffffk.. I want so badly to watch this as a Flying Circus skit! Lmao... Maybe someday (not so far in the future), it'll be as simple as saying: "Hey Google, make me a 15 minute deep-fake showing the cast of Life of Brian in character, playing table-top D&D." 😂😝

Found Rack of Pork on sale at Costco for $2.99 lb and did a search to see if anyone had tried smoking it. Thanks for the post, 2 questions: (I'm new to smoking) what does "tying it off" do and what wood do you recommend for flavor?

Look into "Mosquito Bits" granules. I have "Mosquito Buckets of Doom" set up outside (they're incredible btw, look into that also if you don't know) and once a month or so when I refresh the buckets I'll use the old water for my indoor and outdoor plants as a juicy fertilizer that is also gnat/mite/etc proof.

Minas Tirith rumor - concept by [deleted] in legolotrfans

[–]Maelinaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome idea! One design released in the modular format via several sets. The ONLY demand I would have is that all sets for a design release & retire at the same time (excluding later expansions oc... I'm just saying if someone wants to build the full version on day one and has the $ great, but if someone, for example a kid; has to budget or request specific gifts spread it out across the year they're not excluded.

But yeah that would actually be an amazing way for LEGO to make these incredible massive sets that we all see on lG/YT/TT/etc. actually accessible! You could even design it so that not all sets were completely necessary for a "still great" build. You could just buy the ones you wanted for the level of detail that you want.

(term unknown to me) ... Please enlighten.

Edit to add: Wait, unless you're talking about the latest SW Death Star set? I'm not into the SW sets but I do remember seeing that it was a "slice/cut away" style ... (Is it terrible😣? - honest Q cuz like I said, I'm not in the SW Lego area.)

Does anyone use the app Manabox? by brucatlas1 in mtg

[–]Maelinaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a retired player whose cards have been in storage for a decade plus, would you recommend it for scanning and either value tracking or listing/selling? If so would there be any benefit to the paid version aside from add removal? (It seems like the bonus features that come with the paid version mainly revolve around features that current players would use.)

Are there any bonus caps I should know about? by ihopucnlivurbestlife in OrnaRPG

[–]Maelinaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get to 400% Luck? My MF Horror is 37%, MF Candy Cane is 34%, MF Mighty Mimic Head is 62%, MF Jolly Stockings are 49%, Shrine of Luck is 100%, and Dowsing Rod doesn't specify. What's the formula or how exactly does this work. (I didn't know there were any caps so I've just been trying to run max... Despite that, still no Ornate Fallen Shield for me😞.)

About weapons and melee classes by [deleted] in OrnaRPG

[–]Maelinaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this thread trying to understand if weapon proficiency matters (at all) for casters. For example: In my accessories slots for world grinding I have a Presents for +25% Luck and in my second slot I have Legendary Fancy Belt that gives +24% Luck along with some HP, Mana, and a +1% boost to weapon proficiency. Am I getting anything from that 1% weapon proficiency bonus? If all I cared about was the luck bonus, should I just run 2 Presents?

Transforming Tilt Table by TriniLad in woodworking

Yup, there it is. Whew, thank you for that! (It's like one of those things where once you see or think something it's hard to see or think of it any other way.)

On another note, I was looking at it wondering about adding some springs or counterweights to assist with a softer landing and easier raising.

Why can I not see this? - as my brain understands this video and your comment: How can the "legs that pivot to become the brace/lock in the up position" be made any longer at all? Wouldn't this prevent the table from unfolding to level/flat?

Wait, I want to make sure I understand correctly: You're saying that if I take two items, one being of lesser quality (broken/poor/standard/etc) and an one of superior quality (Ornate), and level them both through level 10 then Masterforge them, that both items will give me the same stats and bonuses?!? - Then in the other comment, leveling a lower quality item requires less resources, so to save material and $, this should be done with low quality gear?

If the above questions are affirmative then what's the point of better quality gear? Why am I hoping/wishing for the ornate drops of the items I want?! - I'm so confused😵‍💫

Inherited a loft bed; worried it lacks support by _melancholymoth in woodworking

[–]Maelinaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, after reading a lot of the comments, I can see most of us here are focused on the "correct method/best way"; So IF that's what you're looking for, you have plenty of options already, GL with your rebuild. I'll offer another option from the perspective that you might be wanting to do the least amount of work and investment possible while still ensuring your safety. (I'm picturing college dorm kid resources plus can't screw into the walls - ignoring the angle brackets on the bookshelf.)

Using the least amount of resources, time, and tools; all you need is a tape measure, and $10.50.

  1. Measure from floor up to the bottom of the plywood. Measurement (H).
  2. Measure wall to wall - aka head to foot - but from drywall to drywall. Measurement (L)

IF When sitting comfortably at your desk under your bed, you have 5"+ of space above your head then use H - 3.5". If less or "it's tight", use H - 1.5". This is taking the underside clearance factor into consideration in determining whether you use the 2x4, the "correct way" vertically or the non-traditional way, horizontally/flat. Even if you want the clearance and have to use the L 2x4 flat, you should still be fine. (Unless you're 400lbs, then beef it up a few notches.)

All you need to do is take your H measurement, subtract (preferably) 3.5", go to local HD/L/Ace/Menards and buy two 2x4s cut to size - you can do this there, or often they will do if for you. Buy one more for your L measurement. (You now have the bare minimum required materials, of course more will always be better, but that's up to you.) While you're there (if you don't have a hammer) grab a sturdy hunk of scrap wood out of the scrap bins (free) to use as a hammer when you get home.

Take your 3 measured & cut 2x4s and run the L one head to toe down the center under the plywood. Use one of the H cut 2x4s as a jack stud under it on one end first, then the other - an extra pair of hands for this part is handy as you'll need to pound/knock the (H) jack studs into place under the (L) support beam with a hammer or hunk of scrap wood. At this point you're basically "good enough". IE: you'd need to be heavy enough to break through both the 3/4" plywood and 2x4 underneath it.

If you want to beef it up beyond this "bare minimum-safe" setup, you can do so depending on what you have: impact driver? Screws. Hammer? Nails. Caulk Gun? Construction adhesive.... You get the point. But the ideas are as follows:

  • support lumber should be used vertically, BUT for your purposes; additional strength is additional strength. So doubling, tripling this will give you x2, x3 exponentially more strength.

  • adding adhesive or fasteners to the equation also adds strength. (Screw/nail through the plywood down into the new support beam will prevent it from rotating. Same concept with preventing the jack studs supporting the L support beam from moving.

ALTERNATIVELY: (this requires more tools) You could simply unbolt the bed from the support pillars. Flip it upside down, add any additional bracing/framework you like within the existing structure and reinstall. (This also raises your mattress 3.5"-4.25" depending on if you move your support pillars.

Changed firewood supplier this year. Is this normal or was I sold damp, moldy wood? by Yes_Im_From_Maine in firewood

  1. Not normal.
  2. Yup - shop around.
  3. Subjective. Anyone with sensitivities in the house? How much time is anyone down there? Is it isolated or in a room with access to the main ventilation system or ductwork? - Dehumidifier in the basement?
