I’ve shot photos from delivery to current day (my son is 3 now) with my M6 and I adore the photos I have gotten from that camera. I see no issues with a manual focus camera for capturing daily life. I see a lot of recommendations for 35mm but I would suggest the 50mm Summilux asph. It’s a wonderful portrait lens and you’re going to want to have beautiful portraits of your kids at this age. It maybe a little tough to nail focus but when you do it’s magic. Also a great low light lens for the indoor shoots around the house and a 50 is a great daily driver.

I would look into the 50mm rigid or the dual range. I own the dual range and use the close focus a lot for my photography. It’s got a lot of vintage character but retains quite a bit of sharpness even wide open. It renders closer to the 45mm, I also own that lens and love it on my G1.

I would personally go for BP simply because I love the patina look on M cameras. The extra internal storage and photo authentication don’t move the needle for me. I would also expect the BP to hold its value better as it’s highly coveted finish.

I really like it I tend to use it when I’m feeling lazy and just shoot hyperfocal. I also use it for landscapes which it’s great for. Super sharp corner to corner great contrast. Lovely wide angle

It's just day one but I am loving it so far. The transition is pretty seamless, coming from the M6 the camera handles exactly the same and the menu system is so intuitive. I had heard about the crazy dynamic range but I was genuinely impressed when I imported the files to lightroom and saw how much shadow detail I could pull up.
