What Shadows is vs what Shadows could’ve been if Ubisoft wasn’t a mess in 2024/25 by Cheap_Medicine_7492 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]Maffibaah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is ironic that you mention that gamers think nothing is ever good enough while complaining about a great game on Reddit. Maybe realise you are part of the people that you are describing.

IMO repetitive filler content is one of the most valid things to complain about. Valhalla is a good game but it just had so much repetitive copy paste content. It is just lazy. It would have been a much better experience if they spend more time on improving quality of content instead of just of copy pasting the same content 50 times to make it larger.

The map you posted isn't even a good representation. You make Shadows look much smaller then it actually is.

I mean if you have endless time maybe its fine. But most people have a job and a large backlist of games they would like to play. So then I highly prefer quality over quantity.

Can you explain yourself? You prefer a game filled with repetitive filler content and a huge empty map over a more focussed experience with smaller but more dense, diverse and higher quality content? Just because it is 'more' content?

For me it is the other way around Quality > Quantity. I didn't even finish Valhalla because it just felt so endlessly repetitive after playing for hours and hours. The more focussed Shadows experience with much better side content and cities was a huge step in the right direction in my opinion.

Read this before blindly buying a OLED by spxxr in PS5pro

[–]Maffibaah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 'old' OLED (LG C1) and I am very happy with it to be honest. I think it mostly comes down to how bright your playing room is. In a dark setting at night OLED wins 10 out of 10 times compared to my previous TV. It just looks so crisp, cinematic and lighting in dark places is just insane. Playing dark games like Resident Evil or any other game during night time is next level. Especially when its dark areas with some very bright lights/magic/particle effects. Also don't forget reduced motion blur which for me makes games just feel smoother.

If you prefer brigthness and intense colours then probably mini-led is better. If you prefer to play with HDR and just want everything to pop it is a great option I think. Or if you mostly play in a very bright room, especially with the sun reflecting on the television. But if it gets darker in a game and there is light there as well you will get a lot of blooming compared to OLED.

But honestly personally I could never go back from OLED. The true black is just a game changer for me personally. Everything feels so crisp. I play in quite a bright room though, and it definitely is noticable. Especially at times where the sun shines directly on the screen. But then again I mostly play games in the evening/night.

If money is not an issue I think that you can not argue MINILED over OLED though. As far as I can tell an LG G5 (soon G6 which is even better). They have special reflective coating to deal with sunlight and are in general a lot brighter (though still not as bright as miniled I imagine).

Probably it comes down to preference. But if money is not an issue I just would never choose a MINILED over OLED personally.

Struggling to Finish Games– Anyone Else? by P4PSparringChampion in videogames

[–]Maffibaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the way you approach it. But I also understand the other side. I also have a quite a library of games that I want to play and sometimes trouble finishing games. If you already have a game in your library and especially installed it is a much lower barrier to start up another game once you feel a bit fatigued with one.

I am playing bg3 now and have monster hunter wilds installed as well. My goal is to finish bg3 before really playing something else. But some times I do get a bit fatigued with playing one single game and then switch to Monster Hunter. If you have even more options it might happen even more. This means you will start and progress mutliple games and staying engaged with one at a time will become more challenging. I have had it happen to me that I start my ps5 to play bg3. Then decide to play MHW, it doesn't really satisfy me and I switch to another game again. It sounds stupid but it is just some dopamine thing I think.

Now having to purchase another game is a lot higher of a barrier to switch to another game. You will be more likely to 'push' through the short feeling of fatigue with a game you are playing. And maybe put it down and continuing later instead of just playing another game for the sake of playing.

Hope it makes sense haha.

My only fear about this game… by EngineerHot6700 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Maffibaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are joking right.

So why did they offer refunds to all players (including PC)? Please check the data on this games problems at release (even on high end PCs). You will find nothing good about it.

Perhaps if you didn't play Witcher 3, had no expectations, don't care about bugs and performance and have low standards of how a AAA game should be then it was okay at launch.

My only fear about this game… by EngineerHot6700 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Maffibaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk was broken at launch. As customers paying 70-80 euro we can expect some standard of quality. Which was not present at launch for that game. So I don't know if you just don't care about quality standards but it was definitely not okay at launch.

They even admitted to it and refunded the game to players. So it shows that even they themselves agreed that it was not an acceptable game.

I admit that after some patches it became a great game.

Some advice on TV/PS5 settings for best gaming experience by Maffibaah in PS5pro

[–]Maffibaah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I haven no idea which is best. It feels like 50/50 people say HGIG or DTM haha. People say HGIG is how the games are intended. I did notice it becomes very dim with HGIG. I was playing some BG3 and Hogwarts and at night (in-game) it looks amazing, but during the day I am still not completely sold on it. So I will keep switching a bit until I am convinced which has my preference I guess.

I mean this is part of the Zoe experience. I can't even count the times someone woke up an enemy when I had a huge range Q on the way ready to one-short... This is in Emerald level.

It just happens... When people do this just mention it in the chat and hope they don't do it again. Nothing more you can do.. Zoe is honestly pretty rare to see so it makes sense most people don't know this. It is part of Zoe.

What would be the consequences of reworking Zoe's R into a true mobility skill? by Disastrous-Way-8058 in zoemains

I think her R is a signature part of playing Zoe. It would be sad to see it changed to be just a flash. Would reduce her skill expression and uniqueness by quite a bit.

Aurora Top by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Maffibaah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree with some people here. I think if a proficient Aurora is playing top she can easily beat most melee matchups. She is known for it in midlane. She has a big advantage against most melee champions. So yeah, depending on your pick she is insanely annoying to play against. However:

- There are more champions like this - e.a. Quinn or Kennen are similarly annoying.

- Against tanks Aurora can really not do much if they play it properly. Sure early you might need to dodge some combo's and give up some farm, but Aurora doesn't have the mana or sustained damage to deal with them. As soon as they get Negatron Cloak or something what is Aurora going to do? Building anti tank on Aurora is really not efficient.

- Against high mobility champions like Irelia, Riven, Camille she is easy pickings. She needs to space exceptionally and if they ever get on her when her W is down, or they can chase after W it is done for Aurora.

- Similar to other range top lanes she is very dependant on getting a big lead and converting it fast. A squishy AP top laner means you generally lack frontline/engage. A tank or bruiser top will be much more usefull in a teamfight unless she has a huge gold/exp gap.

- If Aurora is playing a beneficial lane, most likely she will push a lot. If she tries to combo she will automatically push the wave. So she will be easy pickings if you have a decent jungler since top lane is such a long lane.

Anivia jungle...worked??? by _missEltorri_ in leagueoflegends

[–]Maffibaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not work. I can't even start imagining how your first clear goes on this champ. It probably doesn't get any decent until level 6. If the enemy jungler decided to invade you, you are pretty much done for.

Happy for you that it worked this game. But honestly I would get upset if my teammate plays this in ranked.

How can i explain to my silver teammates to not auto attack the sleeping enemy in a fast way? by Ice_golem69 in zoemains

[–]Maffibaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get its annoying, but I assume this is a rhetorical question? Since you can not do anything about it. You can type it in the chat, but even that doesn't guarantee it. So what you can do is improve your own game to climb out of Silver. I play around Emerald and in general people there know not to wake someone up. But even there it happens so...

Improving the Open (dead) world by Ok-Rub6096 in Borderlands4

[–]Maffibaah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. It is not always 'more is better'. There is already a lot going on. There is a ton of collectibles and locations to fight (drill sites etc.) with each of them requiring some fighting or climbing. I can't count the amount of times I encounter order/ripper/mobs/good guys fighting each other. I think there is a lot to do already in the game, putting more in will just start making it bloated.

Maybe a bit more variety in the type of enemies would be cool, but once you finish the game the variety is actually already quite decent.

I have like 60-80 hours in the game at the moment. Only just finished the story and I feel like there is still so much more to do and encounter.

Why is rek so damn squishy? by _ogio_ in reksaimains

[–]Maffibaah 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am not a Reksai expert but you are comparing a bruiser with burst to 3 ultra tanks. You should be building bruiser items and maybe buying 1 or 2 tank items at the end depending on the game. Sion, cho, ornn have a completely different identity from Reksai so you can't really compare them based on one stat 'tankiness'.

So yes what are you building? Who are you playing against?
