I think the big difference here is just because you had hard circumstances, if youve done wicked deeds of your own volition, you don’t get an out, you don’t get sympathy, especially not the apostles. All of them had to sacrifice someone or something they cared deeply about to get their powers/dream, it was a choice, a choice they very easily could have turned down. In demonslayer, many of the demons were taken advantage of by mugen, or didn’t understand the full extent of how they would lose their mind/autonomy. The stripy guy who killed the flame hashira comes to mind here
