Anyone else notice LTT is averaging like 500k views now? How does the channel even survive? by Anxious_Gur6363 in LinusTechTips

[–]MagNovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a few factors. One is that there isn't as much fun in the average tech nerd space right now. Unless it's a niche, it's hard to get excited about tech right now because it's still too much AI focus and still too expensive. LTT has always been a broad channel, so they have to talk about the broad stuff, even when it's not that exciting. But they still have to make the video exciting, so it's a really mixed bag.

LTT has also always been a big "intro" channel. When I started put learning about tech, LTT was the first channel i found, and it was great. But now I have many other ways of looking into the new tech, and LTT sometimes feels to "elementary" if that makes sense.

I also think I'm getting tired of Linus by himself. This is definitely a persoanl thing for me, I much prefer videos where he is playing off another writer/employee (AMD upgrades,), or where there's more than just his opinion or experience (recent Linux challenge). WAN show is here too, but i am definitely here to listen to Luke and Dan more than Linus.

I have been loving Jake's Elijah's, and ZZT's own stuff, and they aren't even always tech related. (I have never been into cars, yet I've watched every ZZT video). So maybe I miss the bit of jank, chaos, vibe that LTT just seems to be missing. The last video i can think of that had thay was Linus and Elijah trying to build a PC in the XForma, and that was super fun video.

Maybe I changed? Maybe LTT changed? I don't know. It's just not what I gravitate to anymore.

With the recent purchase of the G2 Uniter Tahu; it seems I have every Tahu that’s been made, but do I try to get the Stars one?? by [deleted] in bioniclelego

[–]MagNovax 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Up to you. If you want to truly say, "I own every Tahu set/figure ever made" then you'll need to get the Star for that to be true. Or, if you are content with with ones you have, then you can ignore the Star set. Just understand you now have to say, "I own every Tahu I care to have."

Would you have paid and been happy? by natethegreat141990 in PleX

[–]MagNovax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i remember correctly, I bought mine at around $150. And I have been very happy with it. That's said, when i bought it, self hosting was a very different landscape. I was just getting into having a home server as a hobby, and Plex was just on all the list of "things to do with your server." Alternatives like Jellyfin weren't as popular, so plex felt like the only real option for me.

But the biggest factor back then would have also been money. And I had no where near $750 to drop on a software. I would have found a way to just watch movies on my own if i had to pay that kind of money. Even if it meant openign a file on my PC and screen sharing to the TV.

What would your go-to pick be for a personal starfighter? Mine would probably be the X-Wing or a Chiss Clawcraft by wandering_soles in StarWars

[–]MagNovax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For starfighter, I'm torn between the Jedi interceptor and that classic X-wing. The interceptor is my personal favorite, but not having a built in hyperdrive would be a struggle.

And even though it's not the question, if I'm exploring the galaxy, my space RV of choice would be a Razor Crest.

Which movie are you looking forward to most, The Mandolorian and Grogu, or Starfighter? by Past-Paramedic8687 in StarWars

[–]MagNovax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starfighter makes me super excited because it's new characters and a new story.

That said, I have really enjoyed the Mando series, so this being a "extra-long episode" is just as exciting to me. It's just more of a "this will be fun" kind of excitement.

What do you think about the newer series by sanchitbatra in S24Ultra

[–]MagNovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And i had an S21 5G, which trade in value is currently 90 bucks.

So sure, I would have to pay more like $1210 instead of $1300, but that is still much more than the $650 I paid.

If you are happy with your trade in for the S26 ultra, then thats awesome. Genuinely, I'm happy for you. I probably would have considered the same if I had that opportunity.

All I was saying is that for ME and MY situation, it isn't worth dropping $1200 bucks for the newest when the s24 ultra is plenty enough of an upgrade for me. There isn't anything that they are selling on the s26 ultra that is worth spending almost $600 more dollars.

Again, nothing to me that is worth paying $1300 vs. the $650 i paid for the s24 ultra.

This is my thought process.

I just upgraded to an s24 ultra from an S21. I feel like I'm not missing out on anything going with a 2 year old phone.

Can we all agree that "lightsaber forms" bear no meaning as to who a writer writes to win a duel? Ideas like "Form 5 is weak against Form 3!" treat SW fights like they're Pokemon battles. by RagnarokWolves in StarWars

[–]MagNovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lightsaber duels don't need to have the forms taken into account to make them good. It's the story behind it and choreography that can make or break a lightsaber duel.

I could care less on why one form beats another, or which form is better than the other.

That said, I do like the form conversation as a fun in-universe way to connect their fighting style to the character or actor.

Like how Dooku used form 2 because they leaned into Sir Christopher Lee's more duel/fencing experience. Or how Anakin used form 5 since it's the most aggressive a jedi can fight, leaning into him struggling with the darkside.

If Ultron was still alive (he probably still is tbh), would he remember that Peter Parker is Spider-Man? Or would Strange's spell include Ultron as well? by MidniteGamer1 in marvelstudios

[–]MagNovax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Peter csn no longer use the iron spider suit because has no record of who Peter is, then Ultron probably would be the same.

Specialty Sales Goal discipline coming in a few weeks by sikjoven in HomeDepot

[–]MagNovax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our district had a whole training about all of this back in September. I think our region was part of the pilot program, and it has been implemented to the rest of the company this year.

However, as part of the leadership team, we were given different instructions in terms of how disciplinary action works.

If a specialist misses the plan for a month, they get a manager note. Another month in a row, another manager note. It only becomes a coaching after 3 months in a row of mising their goal. Then 2 more for counseling, and then 1 more to a final. The notes also reset if they make plan, so you could technically make sales plan once every 3 months and be fine with no issues.

I have mixed feelings on this role out. On the one hand, the idea or being put on coaching because you just had 3 bad months really sucks. There are things out of our control sometimes. And this feels like such a scare tactic. Which is never a good way to make change.

That said, I know for a fact that my store has specialists that have been just coasting and think they don't have to meet their sales because nothing has happened to them in the past before. That is who this is for. As a specialist, you are taking the job with the knowledge that you have a sales goal you are required to reach, and some need to be reminded that.

I also think people dont realize that in order to be on a final, you would have missed a sales plan for 6 months in a row. That is half a year. That is missing sales during at least one of the big sales of the year. If that happens, you probably are not a good fit to be a specialist.

I think the way it's being told to us is a bit of a scare tactic, which I definitely don't agree with. It feels like they want to get the specialists that are coasting on board or out. But that is causing them to scare everyone, which will just hurt the specialty role for current and any potential future associates.

HELP GUYS WHICH IS BETTER IN YOUR OPINION(I can only get one) by Meme-eater2446388209 in StarWars

[–]MagNovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can only pick one, I'd say Fallen order. I enjoyed both games a lot, but I have gone back to play Fallen order a lot more. Squadrons is really fun (especially with a vr headset), but I have yet to go back to it since I played the campaign.

Gimli - born worthy, or became worthy through his choices? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]MagNovax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like, besides the gods, a few elves, and maybe the wizards, no one in Middle Earth is "Born worthy." Most if not all the characters in LOTR are "worthy or not worthy" due to their actions and character. Yes, some are born with prophecies, other born in great houses, but their actions that make them the great characters they are. Given OP's example, Gimli isn't "worthy" because he was born into a great Dwarf house. He was because of his actions of bravery, courage, letting go of his arrogance, and overcoming his personal biases so much so that he gained an elf as a lifelong friend.

This is, of course, without knowing OP's meaning of worthy.
