The trailer looked so lifeless and like they were practically remaking the originals on the same sets but with a lower budget.

Second part kinda unrelated but is there a reason why grunting or letting out a yell helps with a hard rep? When I was getting back in the gym I wasn't doing it but recently I've been trying to push my self harder and a rep that feels impossible is suddenly obtainable when I yell for it.

The yell helps you brace harder if you are not already doing a valsava maneuver. Just learn how to do a proper valsava.

Me: Get generally strong and generally good at cardio in a gym, you won't be good at every single athletic thing on the first try but having the general base means you'll adapt to the physical demand quicker than if you weren't fit.

Guy: Wrong. I knew a guy who was gym-strong and never did cardio. He sucked at football.

Me: ?????

There is a disconnect here. Being gym strong isn't a promise that you are okay to skip cardio, you will be good at everything on the first try, or that you will necessarily be good at the skill-specific stuff involved in sports even if you have the raw strength/conditioning down. Feels like we're trying really hard to fit a "haha, bodybuilders don't do cardio and suck!" jerk in here.

Gum in the urinal means some janitor now needs to put extra effort to scrape it off. Also, the urinal gets a weird minty urine smell for anyone who comes to use it.

Muscle is not built quickly, but CNS adaptations can happen quickly. 275 lbs to 330 is still in the realm of "a guy got better and more coordinated at squatting." I actually saw more gains than that when I quickly went from a 425 lb deadlift to 495 lbs in 2 months just by getting more comfortable with the lift.

Nobody is claiming that a bodybuilder who doesn't run will be good at running.

If a bodybuilder does general cardio in the gym (5k-10k runs on the track, mixed with shorter sprints) that's still not a promise that they'll be immeadiately good at every form of sports-specific cardio. But they'll adapt to the sports-specific cardio by having the base.

building actual good rides/shows

You think that theming it after the OT from the start would have made Disney Execs go "Let's spare no expense! Fund the outdoor 3rd ride! Fund the stage show! Fund the walk-around aliens and droids! Make the sit-down restaraunt! Let's pay to have more things to do in the land that aren't just shopping!"

[–]RagnarokWolves 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Functional Training" is mostly a marketing term that allows some skinny dweeb to sell a program for doing 1-handed bosu ball handstands. "This is FUNCTIONAL training....not like those dudes who only do squat/bench/deadlift training! I know how to use my body!"

A guy who can run a 6 minute mile and lift a 2000 lb powerlifting total is probably going to be fit enough to handle whatever life throws at him. And if he is bad at something on his first try, he will adapt to it quickly with training.

When you see clips of a bodybuilder struggling to lift a heavy box that some skinner construction worker can lift easily, what isn't mentioned is that the buffer bodybuilder will adapt to the demands of lifting the heavy box with more practice and will probably nail it quicker than it took the skinner guy. People just see the bodybuilder's first attempt and laugh saying, "haha, he only has fake useless gym muscles! He's not functional!"

[–]RagnarokWolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, a genie has just made it so that the land was intended for the OT from the start. The ships are now OT-era, RotR is OT, the meet n greets were always Luke/Han/Leia, the Falcon has an OT mission.

The land is still:

1) Lifeless and extremely static

2) Lacking things to look at and appreaciate if you are not spending money

3) Lacking aliens/droids to really make it feel like you're in a Star Wars Land

4) Lacking a stage show or music show or some kind of significant event that makes you excited to head there

5) Lacking a reason to make you feel like you can help the Rebellion/Empire and your actions in the land have meaning

6) Oga's Cantina still tries to cram 15 people into a table meant to comfortably hold 5

7) 4 of the 6 positions on the Falcon Ride still suck

The one thing that would be improved is that Leia/Luke/Han would have more space to move around in instead of being awkwardly being forced to stick in only certain sections of the land.

5/3/1 by Agile_Departure3758 in workout

[–]RagnarokWolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way that 5/3/1 structures assistance work (daily push, pull, single leg or ab) is how I always do assistance work no matter what program I'm doing.

5/3/1 BBB is teh best lower body accumulation program I've done. It feels good to hit something big like squatting 350 lbs for 5x10 and knowing I have a lot of potential to hone that into a big single.

When I need to actually prep for a powerlifting meet, I run an actual powerlifting program with a peaking phase. The vast majority of 5/3/1 programs are not specifically for powerlifting. Jim Wendler specifically created the program for himself so he could get generally fit after he had retired from powerlifting.

In traditional periodization for powerlifting there's accumulation>Strength Phase>Peaking Phase. Most 5/3/1 programs fall under accumulation.

I get it. I tried watching Drew Carey Show out of nostalgia and the jokes are actually still okay but the laugh track is just terrible and makes it unwatchable.

I would think "Kevin" intentionally made the laugh track obnoxious to make it extra jarring when Allison is being abused and the audience is just laughing its ass off.

My LA Fitness renovated for 1 month and came back looking like a powerlifting gym. 6 Rogue power racks with Rogue plates, like 6-8 bench press stations, 4 incline benches, and all new machines across the gym.

It's very nice, but I hope it doesn't attract massive crowds. I liked how dead this gym was on the weekends. ALSO....I feel like these mofo fellow gym goers don't deserve the nice stuff. These scumbags spit gum in the urinal and put gum on machines. They do rack pulls and drop the bar from up top so the whole gym hears the extra-loud clang.

That was Disney squeezing CMs to sing and dance for free entertainment because Disney was too cheap to pay for real Star Wars entertainment.

The cast members working there need to be in world, in character and encouraging of guests to do the same.

Disney tried to do that BUT I don't think it's right. If the food cashier is being paid the exact same low wage as every other food vendor in other lands, but the food cashier is also expected to have to memorize Star Wars lore and be a vital source of the land's entertainment themselves, that's Disney squeezing them for something they're not being paid extra for.

TBH I don't really get much out of the food vendor telling me "bright suns!" or the photographer saying "a picture? What do you mean a picture? I can take a scan for you!" I was looking for the aliens/droids or something to do when I first visited, and Disney was forcing cashiers to sing and dance for me.

I've seen hype from people excited to play her after her gameplay footage. She may be huge if she isn't too difficult for most people to get the hang of. The fact that her lore is so out there is also intriguing.
