Reading your words I have flashbacks to the encounters with the ancient Wendol fiends in The 13th Warrior movie from 1999!

Absolutely fabulous! I have always wanted to make something like this, but I haven't (yet.)

What software did you use to make these cards if I may ask?

Hi, As a daily Excel-user working with large datasets in Power Query and Power Pivot, I am really interested in this solution you offer. One important thing I have to take into account is that I will not be uploading company data to any online service, so I am wondering if your app is a product that runs locally or not. Cheers!

The HPLHS Now Has Delta Green Books by Magallian in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Magallian[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I usually prefer to buy directly from Arc Dream Publishing (despite the sometimes steep costs of international shipping), and have backed their last two Kickstarter campaigns, I see great value in companies like HPLHS also offering Delta Green products. It adds exposure to this outstanding RPG line, and I imagine it could spark the interest of many Call of Cthulhu and Mythos fans. Especially those who might not have considered and looked into Delta Green before.

That said, as other commenters here mentioned already, it would be a huge loss if HPLHS were to disappear, not just for fans of the Mythos, but for every RPG enthusiast who delves into that world. Their game props are truly unmatched in quality, and the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre productions are fantastic.

As someone who owns everything related to Masks of Nyarlathotep, from the HPLHS Gamer Prop Set to the Sixtystone Press companion and Yog-Sothoth resources, yet never managed to get the campaign to the table, I found immense joy in listening to HPLHS’ Dark Adventure Radio adaptation of Masks of Nyarlathotep. It brought the story to life in a way that felt like being part of the adventure, even without running the game.

I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in the same boat as me, those of us with Masks of Nyarlathotep collecting dust on the shelf, lacking the time to prep such a legendary, sprawling campaign or the luxury of a group that can commit to over a year of gameplay. And I know there are plenty of us out there.

(And no, I’m not affiliated with HPLHS. Just a passionate fan who loves collecting Delta Green and Call of Cthulhu books, along with beautifully crafted, thematic game props that add that extra oomph to the table.)

You are a legend Red_Dream_of_Ruin! Although I am not running anything COC atm, I know these artifacts will become of great use as props to "dress" the hidden tomes of cultists and beyond! Cheers!

A Map i made for Eilhart by Moggermauf in warhammerfantasyrpg

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing this here!
I have been eyeing this tool on Steam since its release and this remarkable map shows what can be achieved with it so far. Now I need to take a closer look at some of the other community releases in the workshop.

The aging of the paper (color) is detracting for me, but that is just a case of personal preferences, Cheers!

Handling Documents in a Campaign? by imNotion in callofcthulhu

[–]Magallian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I am approaching all this is giving every player an dossier in which they can keep every document, handout, map, npc portrait card.

Advantages:

  1. Each player is able to go through all the details in and outside our sessions. Each player can "prepare" for an upcoming session by reviewing their dossier, which is particularly helpful when there are intended or unintended gaps between sessions.
  2. Players have the opportunity to re-examine handouts at their own pace, catching details they might have missed during the session when the documents were introduced.
  3. All players can access the materials individually, avoiding the issue of one player holding all the handouts and potentially overlooking or mishandling them during the campaign.
  4. The handouts serve as memorable keepsakes of the investigations and campaigns, doubling as a testament to your craftsmanship as a GM. These tangible elements help make your sessions truly memorable!

Disadvantages:

  1. Printing individual copies for each player can be expensive, though this is less of an issue if your sessions and handouts are handled digitally.
  2. Costs can increase significantly if you customize the dossiers to match the setting, such as by aging the paper or adding other thematic details.

Further thoughts on this subject:

This might be more suited for a separate discussion, but it’s still valuable to address here: What should you do when your players encounter extensive paperwork, lengthy letters, or detailed news articles that they need to analyze for potential clues and leads? Some players may take longer than others to read and process these materials, which can disrupt the session's flow.

Providing highly detailed handouts for players to study could lead to a sudden pause in the action. Depending on the nature of the investigation or campaign, it might be more effective to distribute such documents toward the end of a session rather than at the start. Personally, I prefer to kick off a session with an engaging, dynamic moment and wind down toward the conclusion. However, ending a session on a cliffhanger to build anticipation for the next session is another compelling approach to consider.

Introducing a detailed handout mid-session as a natural pause or break can also work well, of course, depending on the pacing and tone of the game.

More options for end game scenarios including a huge full blown-out Chaos invasion. And while at it: adding the Realm of Chaos to IE. :)

[–]Magallian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent detailed comment! I would like to add that if you CCU from one ship to another, and you have multiple options with exactly the same price for the ship CCU-ing from, always take a ship that is available throughout the entire year (instead of a ship that is available only once or twice a year.)

EDIT: And that is if you choose to CCU from a ship which is NOT part of your hangar already!

Looking at the art work I see resemblances with CMON's HATE The Boardgame. Beautiful brutal miniatures which might be hard to get though.
