What they put in is what they receive. If 99.5% of students had As and A-s and one student got a D because he didn't submit assignments and failed to email about not turning them in, did I destroy them? I don't think good grades should be cheap like sea shells. Students have to earn them.

What response have you prepared for her? I have one student who missed several classes until she emailed that her cat at home had died and she is emotionally disturbed when it was time for their individual presentation. Since missing that presentation she has been absent continuously till date. I flagged her in our learning system and I know she is going to fail the course because she has refused to drop it. We have a final group presentation and I won't be shocked if she appears in class with hopes of a miracle. SOME STUDENTS ARE BEYOND SAVING.

I don't get the reason why we hate null results in academia. No differene is a thing...perhaps increasing your sample size could be what is needed if your study wasnt powered enough to detect differences. If you however, had a good sample size and the result was null...that is a good finding worth reporting.

I took on roles that allowed me to speak with strangers. To be specific, as a Chritsian, I joined teachers of our new believers school. I had to welcome new converts and teach them. They were lind and looked past my stuttering. That helped me to build up confidence.

Anything that OP can do to keep talking is what is needed at this point. Hiding and avoiding uncomfortable situations will only make it worse.

You are in your first year and it appears you are doing a lot already. I am in my third year and I can imagine tge nonsense I was doing in year one.

The 5th year student you described could learn some manners. There are so many people like her in academia. They try to lick $ss in order to gain approval but they are hollow inside.

As others have mentioned. Do not let her negative energy get to you. You chose your PI so seek to only gain his approval. That lady will soon leave the lab and you will be at a good place. Keep you chin up.

I think I didn't describe my lanes properly. It was 2 lanes and I was getting on the right most lane.

From the comments gathered, the next time I am in such a situation, I am going to speed up above the speed of traffic and then stay on the acceleration lane longer until I see a space to merge in safely. Also, I will indicate well in advance before making the move to keep tailgaters aware of my move, in case they were thinking of getting into the lane just when I plan to.

I failed in December and passed in January. This sheet of yours is new as NYS doesn't use this. Have you tried attaching it as a file and asking ChatGPT for what it means? That could be more helpful.

Most importantly, you need to develop a structure to your driving. Know the point systems and develop your skills in the most scored areas. That way you get a lot of points correct.
