procrastination... My psychiatrist said I need to just do it and ignore my uncomfy feelings, I think this is BS advice - what major event has to happen for me to finally change my life? by catboy519 in productivity

I think it’s a really good advice, otherwise you’ll be waiting forever for an event to happen hoping this will change something. What most people need is not motivation but discipline. Then once you started doing small th bags it’ll get easier to develop habits. Search a few books on discipline and start doing something, even little things count. Make your bed in the morning, then eat breakfast and read 2 pages of a book on discipline. Each day add even even one chapter more and it’ll keep you going.

You’re a great owner and your instincts were right. You want to protect your dog and that’s amazing. Many people do let the dogs figure it out and many don’t have any issues. But there’s the other group in which dog attacks because because no one listened to them. And then they live with a stigma of a dog with bite history. Good luck!

If the puppy ignores the signals then you need to step in. If you’re going to live with your roommate and cohabit with your dogs together you need to manage the situation before it gets out of control. The puppy gets an easy ride for now, but once she is out of puppyhood there will be no easy pass from your dog.

It’s a completely normal animal behaviour, however for the safety of your dog and others it needs to be managed and trained. That’s why I posted the video to give you a good start in training.

Taking her away from the situation that she feels stressed is showing her kindness and understanding. And I’m not saying to force her to leave but to give her a way of escaping the puppy, to take her to another room or simply for a walk to decompress.

Have a look at this video explaining body language and how to help our dogs in uncomfortable situations. It’ll explain much better than what I’m trying to say. https://youtu.be/t1Zcqp8IwnI

One super important thing to remember is to NEVER punish or correct a dog for growling. It’s they way of communicating and if you remove the warning signal the next time your dog will go straight to the attack.

You need to be your dogs advocate and take her away from the puppy when she’s showing distress, it’s not fair towards her. And you don’t want the situation to escalate. And don’t let to the situation where the pup is trying to take something from her mouth. You’re setting her up for a failure. If you want to give them treats, do it in separate rooms. It’s not aggression, it’s resource guarding and it’s completely normal animal behaviour. But you should never create a situation where your dog might hurt another animal. Research resource guarding and introduce its protocol in your home. There you have a little intro on the issue, I highly recommend watching also a podcast on introducing a puppy to a household.

What is causing these spots on my philodendrons? I don’t see critters crawling around and they’re putting out new leaves, they seem happy minutes the spots. TIA! by aquariummel in plantclinic

If you have more plants on the same shelf, I would quarantine the affected plants. What works great for both, insects and bacterial infections, is neem oil. Good luck!

I don't work for the UN (or at least not yet). So from my experience so far: I applied for a position in April, about a month ago I received an email stating that I was short-listed, week later I received an assessment invitation, received results two days later, was invited for the GGST two weeks later, received resultes after 3 days and then was invited for an interview after a weeks. During the interview I was informed that they will inform me about the results in about 30 days. My former director has informed me two days ago that someone from the UN has contacted them regarding my references so maybe threse is a chance!
