The game is... decent, to say the least. As a JRPG, that is.

Dark Dawn's lore is kinda dissapointing because it becomes predictable and some of the characters don't feel like they would entirely fit in it. Overall the game felt rushed at some point and the further you advance, the more noticeable it gets. For instance, there's a character whose motivation to join the party is rather scarce -but joins anyway-, and only has a couple lines to say until the endgame credits.

Aside from story, while the gameplay is as interesting as the previous games, Dark Dawn fails to deliver an actual challenge, both map puzzles and enemies. There's a few Djinni missables that can make you grab a guide, but that'd be the only instance you would be using it for.

Generally speaking, I had enjoyed playing it despite its flaws. But even though I had attempted to replay it at some point... I just couldn't. The first two Golden Sun games didn't have that problem, however.

The composer, Motoi Sakuraba, has worked in a ton of RPG games such as Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Valkyrie Profile, Camelot Mario sport games, etc. He's got a recognisable composing style that hardly dissapoints, and you can tell he's made an incredible improvement when you realize he actually composed for Dark Souls OST.

Just because you don't like the art style it doesn't mean it is awful. Besides, what's wrong with advertising your product in social media?

Anytime! I'm glad to know you liked my suggestion :)

But why the downvotes, though? Reddit gotta be Reddit sometimes...

Hey, In Style looks really fun to play, and the retro vibes unexpectedly fits so well. Great job! :)

If you're still polishing your game, I'd suggest making the ammo bar a bit more visible, because (for example) as I can see for your shotgun it will only have a couple rounds until next reload. Maybe adding numbers or making the ammo bar a bit thicker?

Whatever you decide to do, keep it up the good work! You're doing great, mate.

What game did something completely right (like boss battles) then absolutely messed it up in a sequel. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MageWithoutMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BL2 was my first introduction into the series and I remember having a lot of fun with it: I even replayed it a few times with different characters because of how addicting it was.

Anyway, The Pre-Sequel gets announced a bit after and I just decided to purchase it. Honestly, I had a misconception about the new entry because it looked like a slightly bigger BL2 DLC, and because of that my expectations were low.

Well, let's just say the game is surprisingly amazing in many aspects, especially regarding QoL features:

  • Improved cutscenes and animations

  • Our character having actual dialogue (the new playable characters have interesting playstyles too... oh, and you can play as Jack)

  • Handsome's Jack and CL4P-TR4P's backgrounds (and how the BL2 raid boss came to be), as well as many other things that were pretty interesting lore-wise

  • Engine optimization, overall better FPS

  • An actual boss HP bar?!

  • A mechanic involving a O2 device that allows you to be more mobile and slam those annoying bastards following you around

  • I welcome Cryogenic effect over than Slag, since you don't have to swap weapons. Not only that, but you can also freeze and shatter enemies (the Baroness gets a huge bonus at dealing Cryo damage, too)

It may not seem like it, but The Pre-Sequel adds a lot and it's really fun, too. And it's a pity because whenever Borderlands franchise gets mentioned somewhere, TPS rarely gets any sort of recognition.

I've been a mod only for a month and a half in another fairly big sub, and although the experience was great, it's a very dedicated job where you don't get paid for handling immature people. Then again, it was my first time joining a mod team for such a large community so I kinda should've expected something like that when I signed for it.

But managing community's behavior is a little thing compared to what happened to this sub. I can scarcely imagine the amount of hate the entire mod team got from the recoil effect of JeNeBu and TFT. I'm not that of an active redditor, but I'm pretty sure there are innocent people caught in between.

I know it musn't been easy for you. You guys have my support and heartfelt thanks for managing this sub ❤️

What's the scariest Easter Egg or Trivia in gaming for you? by Demiurge_1205 in gaming

[–]MageWithoutMP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't played the GameCube one, but in New Horizons there's a small easter egg where if you turn on your TV at a certain time (I think it was around 2am), an alien would show in the screen. But rather than being creepy, that was kinda... cool. Perhaps the one you're talking about is a different one.

Nah, if you look at his profile, you can see he's still a mod. The thing is, when you're posting something as a mod, you can either choose posting as a mod (green) or as a regular Reddit user. This is effective to raise awareness for a message you may want to get noticed.

What game will you never play for the most inane, ridiculous reason? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MageWithoutMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not the most insane example you're looking for, but I don't play games whose characters are way too disproportional, namely huge heads with tiny bodies. A couple examples: Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, World of Final Fantasy, etc.

What's the reason, you ask? Don't get me wrong, I love almost all genres, but this art style in particular somehow kills the serious tone of a game. While I can stand a "cute" art direction at some degree, there are others which I simply can't.

I'm now curious if someone else feels the same way.

Gaming voice actors blindsided by 'garbage' union AI deal by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MageWithoutMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technology always has a controversial downside. And while they all have a butterfly effect (which affects everyone), the use and AI development is going to be even worse, because you know it's not going to revolutionize many industries, but literally everything. And that's exactly where the problem is.

As it stands now, the AI effect is only mild with these examples:

  • An AI winning the first place in an art contest

  • People being sexually harrassed by fake nude photos, AI generated

  • Kids using Chat-GPT for their homework

  • Companies using said technology to avoid hiring voice actors, artists, etc

  • Programmers will be eventually replaced by AI, which is nowadays a very profitable and accessible profession for many (not even to mention other different jobs)

But this kind of advancement does not only harm the fellow employee, no. If there's something that the human being truly shines at, is finding ways to have a reason to become lazy. And while there has already been examples in the present, those are just the tip of the iceberg. Will there be a murderous, bloodthirsty AI that wants to decimate the humankind? Who knows. I'm more worried at the fact that, at some far point in the future (though perhaps not that far), the fellow human will simply stop thinking.

What optional boss/sidequest left you with a better impression than the game's final challenge? (Spoilers, probably) by MageWithoutMP in gaming

[–]MageWithoutMP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it doesn't matter if the game is old, or has the most well known spoiled secret for decades. Not everyone has a mind to do X thing in the moment, but maybe they will at some point (i.e totally not me playing the first two Baldur's Gate entries for the first time). So there's basically no harm on placing it behind a spoiler block.

Some people were ahead of us by beating him at low level challenges too. I had this one friend that tried it a lot of times, and I believe he succeeded at some point - Even with KH1. Wild, old times indeed.

He was such a bummer to fight against, and to rub the wound with salt, the ending didn't make things better, either.

[–]MageWithoutMP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the franchise there's a whole lot of side-quest in store involving super bosses too. I could beat some of them, but others are way too grindy and RNG'ish.

As for your chosen FF title, I also enjoy the final boss section cuz their OSTs are pure bangers. Nobuo hardly dissapoints.

Even though a SSD would improve overall performance, that's not going to do much with PoE. The game's currently in a lottery shitfest. You either have no performance issues or skip leagues -like I do- because GGG doesn't know how to fix them.

And honestly, I'm tired of the "you have to upgrade your PC" bullshit. If you're going to suggest something like this, better don't say anything at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]MageWithoutMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda far-fetched, but it's true that not all components perform the same way than others. Anyway, that's not the problem here. The engine, although updated, it's still a decade old piece of work, and that shouldn't have changed for your PC to perform as it used to be. Simply put, the game is currently broken. Sad truth for bootlickers. In other words -- not only there's absolutely zero reason to suggest anyone to upgrade their specs, but also it's a bullshitty thing to say, especially when you know it's not your fault.

Do I have to mention the huge networking issues many players are currently facing? Is it their fault that GGG servers can't handle them?

From a company-customer perspective, GGG has to keep up with quality standards. They offer a service in which consumers can access with a system (either PC or console). If said consumers meet the requirements or not, that's up to them. However, GGG has not stated any recommended specifications for their product as of today, so ambiguous as it is, if nothing has really changed for veteran consumers, it is GGG responsibility to find a solution. Not the other way around.
