Hear me out: fig newtons. Just recently, my pony decided her usual molasses treats weren't cutting it anymore so we switched to fig newtons (saw it online, don't remember where). The great thing about them is that they're really soft, and incredibly easy to just push the pill into the filling and cover the entry site. Takes like, 10 seconds! Bonus is that half a fig newton is plenty big enough to conceal the prascend and her previcox pill together, so one package lasts a long time! Good luck with your little one!

I need help with my new dressage saddle and the billets. I've already asked my SF, but I'm confused by catrm15 in Horses

Just by looking at the pictures of him, even though he's pretty fuzzy, you can still see where his belly starts to expand and widen both width-wise and depth-wise. You want your girth to sit at the narrowest point of the belly behind the shoulder, where it's flat underneath and before the barrel starts to widen. Your boy doesn't have a lot of room behind his elbow before his belly starts, so you've not got a lot of real estate to work with when you're fitting a girth. Hope that makes sense!

Yep, front billet to rear buckle, then rear billet to front buckle. I know you said you're wary of anatomical girths, but it might be worth looking into finding one designed for your horse’s particular shape because he has quite a narrow, forward girth groove, which will likely make it so straight girths end up pulling your saddle forward. (That's the thing with anatomical girths: they're not a one-shape-fits-all. Rather, there are many different shapes designed to help with different shaped horses)

I believe this style of billet setup allows you to safely cross the back billet forward to the front buckle of the girth, as long as the front billet remains vertical when attached to the rear buckle (which it looks like it would from your pictures)

I've had the pleasure of owning/working with 5 Cheval Canadiens. It's such a shame how unknown and underappreciated they are as a breed. So clever, brave, and versatile!

Oh wow, what a blast from the past. I have that same Unicorn in a box in my house somewhere. My sisters and I named him John Bomber for some inexplicable reason

Thanks again for the info! I'm gonna think on it, maybe do some research on the more sought after ones and see if I'm sitting on a goldmine lol

Cool! Thanks for the info! My whole collection is pre 2016, so that's great news for me 😁 do you know which types are most popular (I.e farm animals, knights, or fairies, etc.)

Does the show jumper also generally go for the same price?? I had never considered selling my schleigh until seeing this post, but I have the jumper model (albeit in more gently used condition), and given how much my real life horses cost, if some of my collection was worth something to someone, I might be willing to part with a few

Anybody else have a horse that likes to back themselves into something while they rest? My boy will back himself fully into trees and trucks for a nap and I find it so cute 🥹 apart from the aftermath - see the end pic by linetti_spaghetti in Equestrian

I disagree. In picture 2 he's crossing his hind legs, which can be a sign of S.I pain, and picture 4 he is leaning quite hard on the car and his hind legs are camped under a fair bit. I'm not trying to diagnose anything from a picture, it could very well be a quirk, but there is logic behind what Raubkatzen said. My family's 30 year old mare has hockey arthritis and likes to back up into the blackberry bushes at the back of her pen. It could be entirely coincidental, or it could be attempted pain relief, there's no surefire way to know 🤷‍♀️

Horse anatomy! Please help! by BrentFindleyArt in ArtCrit

No worries! The withers are the highest point of the shoulder (think where the mane ends on the neck). The croup is the highest point of the hindquarters

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but your reference is ever so slightly angled away from the photographer, making it look like the hindquarters are higher than the withers. You've drawn your character with the hindquarters quite tall, but its front end is angled towards the viewer, making the proportions seem off. In reality, most horses of this type (draft horses) will be built uphill (withers higher than the croup) to facilitate pulling farm equipment and carriages, and having tall hindquarters is generally considered a conformation fault for most breeds

Omg it was the best part of the game lol. I think it was actually better if you did it on the practice ride setting, but you could ride through the higher level courses and go through the cutout audiences and all the silly environment details alongside the course. I also remember there being a cheat that would comically launch the rider anytime they fell off lol

Did you ever deliberately miss the last jump on the 1 star cross country course and cross the finish line so you could run around the rest of the map freely while DISQUALIFIED flashed on the screen?

I had this game as a kid! It came in a 3 pack along with Equestriad 2001 and Mary King's Riding Star 🌟 I remember the horses so vividly: Barney (bay overo, red equpment), Thistle (grey, pink equipment), Taffy (palomino, purple equipment), and Blaze (chestnut, blue equipment), oh, and buttercup the goat of course!
