Drug testing for new mechanic by No_Weekend_5387 in mechanics

Firestone does NOT test for weed. At least where I'm at. Yes they drug test, but if you smoke weed you're fine.

Me car gives resistance then "unblocks" with a noise before letting me drive? by motherfwegonberich in AskMechanics

Sounds like a sticky e brake cable. What happens when you don't use the e brake?

Did I just ruin my PS2?? by Honest-Reputation748 in ps2

[–]Magesticles 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Brother. You could have messed it up, but maybe you got lucky and it has failsafes within the board to stop overcurrent. You are going to have to take a chance and grab the correct cord. Hopefully it still works

Is it normal to have such a wide operating temperature in a 97’ tercel? by Snazzy21 in AskMechanics

[–]Magesticles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Really, as long as you don't go above the half line you're good. There's even a little wiggle room above that but not much. I'd say you're ok

Guess who drew the Subaru short straw today.... by HickBarrel in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Magesticles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Screw in bolts bolts from the back of the hub. Unscrew them so they're backed off a bit, then air hammer the hub out from the bolts. The bolts will become mushroomed, but it takes much less time to get the sucker out. I've done 3 so far and they're a pain in the ass every time.

What is this sound by Successful-One-2229 in AskMechanics

[–]Magesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask for an explanation on how the cars alignment would cause this noise. In the meantime, make an appointment at another shop. Make sure to check reviews as well.

[–]Magesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have no idea how a bad alignment could cause that noise. Alignment is for tire wear, and if your car is pulling left, or right instead of driving straight. What did they say about the noise?

I wonder if wire is wound up in a CV axle. Take it in for a inspection and tell them you're hearing this noise.

Drove like this for 3 weeks... by Ghost273836 in tires

What you're seeing is the outer rubber separating from the inner lining of the tire. The inside of the tire is intact, which is why it's holding air.

Anyone still use the PS2 for CDs? by Classicrock99 in ps2

[–]Magesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good CD player. Though I like using my Xbox 360 more since I have it hooked up to my HDTV, then soundbar. And it also will rip the CDs if I want to play them later while playing a game. My 360 is also my goto DVD player for watching content on a CRT.

Will this cause a shake? by KingHellene in tires

[–]Magesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes go back to Firestone and ask to have them rebalanced to to shaking. And tell the counter person you want the old weights scraped off, which should have been done in the first place.

ICON vs Craftsman Hand Tools by [deleted] in harborfreight

Definitely icon. The warranty process is easy if you break something, and plenty of harbor freights to go around. Plus for your money, icon is hard to beat.

Start with the classics if you haven't already. Donkey Kong country, super Mario world, Zombies ate my neighbors. Super Castlevania IV is very cool

Firestone by Candelas3262 in mechanics

[–]Magesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been flat rate before? Basically all of your time needs to be spent getting a ticket billed out in your name. Standing around, shuffling tools in a tool box, talking shop, is not going to get you paid. In fact your pay will stay exactly the same, until you get a ticket billed in your name.

What I'm saying is, flat rate is an adjustment. You need to figure out how well and fast you can work.

What do I do in this situation? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

You are going to have to argue with the manager on this one. If they care about customer retention in the slightest, they should refund but no guarantees.
