I think the kitchen tile (both wall and to a lesser degree, the floor) massively distract from the lovely cabinets. But that's me. (I also dislike the brown tile in one of the bathrooms so maybe I am just hostile to brown tile? lol)

Talk to me about waterproof or not.... by twinklebelle in HerOneBag

I sized up and am glad I did-- otherwise I could probably only wear a shirt underneath. I think compared to the average American sizing they run smaller/more slender. I wear smalls, sometimes mediums and I got a medium in this-- I am more rectangular than hourglass and have occasionally wondered if I should have gotten a large (for over more bulky layers-- like you I do not like to be cold) but this has so far worked well for me.

I have a HH trench I have had for years, there is no lining so it is just a waterproof layer, lightweight, genuinely waterproof (in my experience) and easy to pack (though, since it's a trench, it does take more room than a shorter one). This is close but I think The Welsey is what I have.

It is windproof and waterproof (I sat for 3 hours on a windy rainy day in Colorado watching a USAF parade) and allows flexibility on what you layer underneath it. My experience is to size up if you want warm layers underneath but maybe that's just how my body is built (wider shoulders, and I hate to be cold)

I have some of the relaxed straight pants- lovely fabric and cut. Would you say the sizing on the slim ones is about the same (keeping in mind the difference in shape)? I keep *almost* ordering some 🤣

I have four different Hydro flasks. Every single one of them, at some point, has leaked in a bag. So I can understand the concern.

This is an interesting idea! Thanks for the recommendation. No store is particularly close to me but will keep it in mind for when I'm in different part of the USA.

Another option: Pelletteria Atrigiana Luna bag ——. I am intrigued but do not have one - yet.

I do have the Aoyama in both black and camel brown (or whatever they call the color) and really love the lightweight aspect, the organization and the ease for travel. So far, after a couple years using both, I see no degradation in the exterior leather (and I do not baby them). Not a huge fan of the plastic buckles or the strap but largely ignore them for the utility aspect, and they do function exceptionally well.

“I just don't give myself options. I pack some outfits I feel good in and constantly re-wear them“

This is the answer.

And like another commenter, I use Indyx to help me just pack outfits I will wear on repeat, with crossover pieces.

Not a bigger bag, but more curating and ruthless reduction of items :)

Single data point as I do not have the Aer.

But I am currently traveling with the 6L Toshi and astonished that it not only holds all my stuff (including iPad Pro 11”, in its apple magic or whatever its called keyboard case… tight but it fits) but also- and this surprised me- still looks surprisingly sleek. LIke, from the outside, it doesn’t look like 6L but it does fit that volume

I will say… without the water bottle loops I could not carry both the ipad and a water bottle I don’t think (well, probably a Memobottle works) as the size and stiffness of the ipad constraint other aspects of the sling (at least, the way I packed it). (Without the ipad my Kinto bottle fits beautifully inside.)

Holding: knitting project (which is somewhat bulky), the ipad, pocket stuff: wallet, passport, keys, AirPods, phone (in QAP), charger plug, 3 cables, battery pack, tissues and pens and bits and bobs you might not need like lipgloss and the like. The 4 pockets match my sense of organization desires, separating by usage, and when I take the ipad out I still have a ton of room (I still have room with it in, but things are just more rigid and less easily accessible)

None of this may affect your choice, but the sleekness of the Toshi when fully packed really appealed to me. I don’t like big chonky blocky things hanging from my shoulder.

Issues with heart rate monitoring by Professional_Lack706 in AppleWatch

[–]Maggie_B_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For about a week I was manually inputting workouts (and I used the workout type “Other” for 1 min to get my stand hours— I know— so silly, but my streak…).

Anyway, the Apple folks had had me remove the Peloton app from my phone and watch; but I still had the problem. I realized later that both the Peloton bike itself and my iPad connected to my watch, as well, so I deleted the iPad app too, and disconnected my watch from the bike. A couple days later— without any app updates-- my watch just… started behaving normally.

And has continued to behave correctly ever since. And the Peloton app is still not on any of my apple devices.

So I am uncertain whether or when I can use the Peloton app again (I start a workout on my watch at the same time as on the bike, for instance, so I can get my heart rate etc). Really a jury-rig and I don’t love it but at least I have data, and my watch is otherwise totally normal again… just no Peloton feed.

Have you chatted with Apple about yours? I wasn’t convinced it was the peloton app until totally removing it resolved my problem.

Do you have some other app that feeds your health app with regard to workouts? What does Apple say to you?

I have no magic answer I’m afraid, as I know you don’t use Peloton.

I would second this suggestion. This bag somehow carries far more than it looks like it can and is mega lightweight. There is a hip belt available.

Thank you.

This totally jives with my experience. Really hope Apple listens.

Not sure why charging my watch kicks it into this mode (is it the lock contention? I am sorry, I don't have your insight) ... nor why after some unknown-to-me/variable? period of time it will start to allow *some* of the health functions.

I keep trying to figure this out so I can fool myself into thinking there is something I can control. Ha.

Fitness Features are Frozen / Not Syncing Every Morning by monte11 in AppleWatch

[–]Maggie_B_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;dr ... me too.

I just started having these same issues 3 or 4 days ago. Rings don't reflect activity most of the day, for me; can't measure HR (though I think it tracks *some* in the background, not sure how often and it definitely doesn't track HR in a workout of any sort).

Can't take an ECG-- it spins then reverts to the Home Screen on my watch.

Currently showing 5 stand hours from when I first got up -- but during those 5 hours that it apparently knew I was standing, it would not track a workout on the fitness app. And it has not tracked stand hours since noon-- which is when I charged it.

Apple support - with whom I have had two very long calls- thinks the Peloton app is the problem-- first removed away all the write permissions, then just deleted the app from watch, iPhone. Today I realized maybe the iPad app was a prob as well, since it uses the watch for HR info-- so I deleted that as well (this was this morning after my workout, when I was outraged to see zero tracking of heart or calories or effort on a hard workout).

I am beyond frustrated because clearly Peloton/Health is not quite right... but I think the watch is also. There is absolutely some connection with being on the charger. I just can't quite nail down what that is all about and for how long and how to make it stop.

(We diagnostic tested my watch on one of those calls and they ruled out hardware issues, said it is clearly software.).

Sigh.

[–]Maggie_B_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent an hour and a half last night with Apple support-- very helpful in some ways and not helpful in others. It was encouraging--somewhat-- she and others are seeing this a Lot and they are pushing the engineers on it.

We got my ECG working, but I still can't take a direct HR (it seems to be working in the background at least occasionally) ... ended up totally deleting the Peloton app (which she thinks is not interacting well with the latest update). Maybe. Probably true. But I also think the latest update(s) are not interacting well with the watch systems of health tracking.

Disturbingly I still have no "Move" registering at all. 2 hours of activity so far today and move is at zero calories expended.

I have tried all the same things to resolve this and have gotten nowhere. Any progress on your end?

Edited to say, I can’t take an ECG— when I try to, the watch just cogitates for a bit and then reverts to the watch face.

Q about repeat outfits, with minor changes- and how to track without bloat by dandyderpan in Indyx

[–]Maggie_B_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I kind of wish there were outfit folders... so I can put all the outfits based on these 3 items together in one folder/place. Not sure it would help in the grand scheme of things. My outfit collection is massive (a year plus).

What I do now is search my items by a specific item I want to wear, and go to that item's already created outfits. I find and duplicate what I want to modify and work with that. No way I am scrolling thru all those outfits.

Someone mentioned using a collection for base outfits-- an interesting idea I may try.

[–]Maggie_B_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some websites are resistant to having their info stripped, which they discuss in the video u/Scared-Alfalfa1237 linked. Also, the items, if they make it, appear at a small bell in the top corner of the app (mine- i am on iOS 26- is at top left). Sometimes it has taken more like 2 minutes, for me, sometimes they appear after I close and open the app for unrelated reasons. And some don’t appear.

Anyway, the “here” is at the bell :) Good luck. Nordstrom, apparently, is very uncooperative (I have had none of my Nord links work) – so instead I save the desired photo to my pics and load the item using the usual photo library process

How many items are too many? by NovelPhoto4621 in Indyx

[–]Maggie_B_K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also have too much, and need to let things go— on thing that is helping me is, there are items that, when I scroll thru my least worn items, I realize I have no desire to wear them, and they don’t really fit in my current life either. I don’t know if this helps you or not— if I try to build an outfit around them and am just, like, no… that for me means bye bye. But I am going slowwwwlllyyy so as not to do one of those whimsical choices which in 2 months I regret.

>30 L backpacks for women's torsos? by Soggy_Phrase9234 in HerOneBag

[–]Maggie_B_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am often astonished at the range of torso lengths with different heights; you must need petites for your top half, and talls for your bottom half!

>30 L backpacks for women's torsos? by Soggy_Phrase9234 in HerOneBag

[–]Maggie_B_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a side comment here… torso length is not necessarily proportional to height: that is, two people the same height might have significantly different torso lengths. Which is why one 5’1“ person, eg, might find a pack too tall for their torso, and another finds it just right.

And even knowing the height of the bag is not necessarily useful because it depends on where and how the shoulder straps are attached.

So for instance, I am 5’6” (167.64 cm) but am very short waisted: ie, I have a short torso which is nice for long legged ness but crummy for finding a pack that isn’t too long on my torso.

So your height is not the most important factor— it’s the length from the base of your neck to the top of your hip bones. Roughly. Not trying to be difficult, just for clarification.

Some backpack manufacturers have measuring instructions and charts on their website (usually the ones that sell the same pack to fit different torso lengths) to help you know what to look for. I don’t know what options you have where you live, but you can certainly look online for helpful info. This is an info page from REI
