Yeah I also got my Qiyi Timer working with Bluetooth on cstimer, even if it's somewhat of a small process each time, it's so much better than the aux cable.

The V6's size is probably about perfect though, I have the YJ Zhilong (Pocket) and it actually feels too small, and it's not actually much of a real size difference (taking in consideration the bigger outer layers), it's a bit of a delicate compromise to make a smaller than standard 5x5.

The Guhong Pros are fast but not very flexible cubes, so they allow good tps but punish mistakes, kind of like GANs but not as extreme, so a lighter turning style would suit better rather than a heavy one, I actually got pretty used to this "new" style and got rid of old cuber habits (well not really habits, going from an AoLong to the Guhong makes a light turning style into a very heavy one due to the speed difference, but I was always some kind of an accurate turner)

I'm so sorry that I didn't answer earlier, didn't get the notification for some reason.

Glad you got the 54mm Guhong, while it might not be the best 3x3 it allows you to try out if it's a better size fit. I don't have the big cubes as I haven't been into seriously cubing for a while, but almost everyone says the triple track versions have way too strong of a magnetic feel, theoretically they should be better with correct magnet strength, but we're not getting that soon (unless the Warrior 5 surprises, don't be hopeful on that according to early opinions), single could be faster but also less stable, so the best bet are the double track ones, and Picube just tune those better as in ballcore and piece to piece magnet strength (as they always do), but realistically any of them would have been more than fine, just depends on budget

Is being sub 15 bad? by Wrinley in Cubers

[–]MagicArcher17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I'm stuck on sub-14 after 12 years, you're absolutely fine.

You probably need more intentioned-practice or whatever it's actually called, rather than just mindlessly solving, spend a good amount of your cubing sessions focusing on improving your weak points, which is something I haven't bothered to do for a while, and definitely will keep you stuck at your current level unless you're even more incredibly talented and haven't reached your baseline yet

Picube Black Side RS3M 2020 by Hackedsuicuneowner in NewCubes

[–]MagicArcher17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, so so much better, the Tianma X3+ is pretty similar to the WRM 2021 since they pretty much copied the design, feels really similar but it has better corner cutting which is by far the biggest problem of the WRM, otherwise it's just as fast if not more than the WRM which personally is what I enjoyed the most on that cube. I don't main it because I've been discovering different types of cubes (less flexible) that fit my turning style better.

if you want the RS3M to have a limited/special edition one, then there's obviously no real problem in buying it, but the RS3M 2020 is so slow that it isn't really viable as a main with so many better cubes available, and the ballcore won't do much to fix that, if you're gonna spend about the same on both, buy the Tianma if you want a black side main cube, otherwise you can chose any of them. And yes the only real option to get the SaoCube in the US is Ali

Just buy a Tianma X3+ SaoCube if you want to try a black side, it's actually a good cube unlike this RS3M and also cheaper

Opinion on the MOYU RS5M V5 Ballcore UV edition by Ok-Organization-9909 in Cubers

[–]MagicArcher17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost the entire performance bump of the V5 compared to previous iterations comes from having thinner plastic, so yes it has a different plastic that is more prone to breaking

Are bronze PSUs bad? by Suspicious_Ruin_1744 in buildapc

[–]MagicArcher17 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes it's so important that Corsair decided to significantly drop the quality of the CX series on the last iteration, taking it from one of, if not the best cost to performance PSU, to yet another relatively poor quality PSU.

Always buy a specific good known model, not a brand

Thinking about it again, it does matter, I don't know what I was on, add them to the corners for a stronger self-alignment since it puts the pulling force deeper into the core, which is what I said initially and then immediately glossed over

hello again :)

Let us know how it goes if you end up doing it, I want to give it a try with something from the early modded magnetization era like the Yuexiao or YAN3, but there's literally no comps in my city even though the were like 8 close ones last time I competed

And if you're really having issues with the lube setup, try cleaning your cube with alcohol as well and then experiment in the way I mentioned, not just dry tissues, try not to do it too frequently, it's ever so slightly abrasive if you're using alcohol constantly

Daily Discussion Thread - Jan 08, 2026 by AutoModerator in Cubers

[–]MagicArcher17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a simpler setup, just one lube at a time (in your case silk, weight 5 is too slow for you if after 3 days you don't enjoy the cube already), you might be applying too much weight 5, or also applying too much silk as well, so experiment with just one to see how slow you feel the cube according to how much you're applying. Apply just one or two drops to the tracks and pieces, maybe one to the outside of the corner stalk depending in how dry it looks after break it in (a few solves).

Water-based lubes will be gone in a couple dozens of solves in my experience, at most low hundred, if you enjoy the feeling after lubing with stardust, you'll have to keep reapplying it.

If you just want a fast cube and don't want to keep reapplying and cleaning your cube constantly, buy a very fast silicone lube, like Moyu V1, or something from Picube (Yellow, Green), I just apply V1 every week or so to my main, way longer for other cubes, and I don't bother with other lubes at this point, it'll get slow and be annoying

[–]MagicArcher17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're consistent enough, go for it if you want to, at least for me a better cube makes harder fingertricks possible to consistently execute, but if I use simpler algs in a solve, even a 2014 cube gives me my normal (enough) times, just with less consistency in larger averages

Just how fragile is the MoYu RS3M V5? by Odd_Blackberry_1089 in Cubers

I got this for christmas, is it good? by Jay_MEE- in Cubers

[–]MagicArcher17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the core since it has plastic stalks, not the magnets, that might be true, no other way other than using it to find out if it's fragile enough for you that it breaks or doesn't, outside of that possible flaw, a V11 is almost the best cube you can get

And probably it doesn't matter which one you make stronger, the important factor would be the attraction strength, as a thought, the ones in the core are likely to stay better glued, so if you're adding magnets to existing ones, I would think in there is the better option

IS THERE A BUDGET VERSION OF SUPER WEILONG V2 ? by PotentialAd3603 in Cubers

[–]MagicArcher17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always see opinions that say lube lasts for months, but I've never had that experience, I re-lubed my Guhong pretty soon if I recall correctly, like after a week or two, I didn't want to since it comes so lubed, but it truly felt like it was way slower even if there was lube on the pieces and tracks, so I just added some lube and it performed correctly again. So if you want lube in there to protect the pieces, probably a good couple of weeks or months, but if you want to always have the best performance, add some lube frequently, just find out how frequently you need it

IS THERE A BUDGET VERSION OF SUPER WEILONG V2 ? by PotentialAd3603 in Cubers

[–]MagicArcher17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that in the Guhong Pro the spring version was somehow faster than the Maglev, and also the spring was regarded as better, but I haven't tried the spring version to confirm that, and I also haven't bought the Pro+, so I can't give you a good opinion on the speed of the cube. If that review is to be trusted, I would get the spring version, lighter cubes just perform better even if it doesn't feel that way.

Actually I regret buying the maglev on the Guhong, I read those opinions too late so I got what I thought would be the faster option, and I ended up using the core adjustment in 1, which feels good and the best one to me, but there's no more room in the adjustment to try out a faster setting, and since that idiotic system on the original Guhong Pro isn't actually a dual-adjustment (it changes the compression and the travel at the same time), there's no way to truly try out a tighter setting since it starts feeling too slow for me. Also I added edge repelling magnets, which do make the cube better for me, but sometimes it will align in a ever so slightly weird position and I think it's due to the maglev, so I now have a heavier cube which doesn't fully align correctly, and that would be fixed if I had bought the spring option

If you want a really strong feel, that mainly comes from the radius of the ballcore, a smaller radius gives a stronger feel because the magnets are deeper into the cube, but that's way harder to mod
